I was very concerned about putting dad in a home but the level of care/service has been unbelievable and dad is so happy there. Its the staff that make the difference from the cleaning, cooking through to management nothing is to much for them and all make dad feel welcome.

Not only is Stowlangtoft Hall a beautiful old building but the nursing home is run by people who genuinely care and strive to do their utmost to look after their residents as if they were members of their own family, going above and beyond. Moving my elderly Dad in for the final months of his life was
definitely the best decision we made.
Reply from Charlie Diamond, Marketing and Communications Lead at Stowlangtoft HallThank you for your heartfelt words. We're truly honoured to have cared for your dad and grateful for the trust you placed in us during such an important time. It means so much to know he felt supported, cared for, and treated like family. Your kind feedback will be shared with the whole team at Stowlangtoft Hall.

Kind, caring and considerate staff. Responsive, engaged management and a calm , civilised environment. All set in a beautiful building surrounded by lovely parkland. Many of the bedroooms are very spacious with great outlooks, and the large rooms of the public areas mean it never feels overcrowded.
Staff are friendly, cheerful and provide a happy environment. My father is well looked after and feels cared for and safe.

Both my parents are residents of Melford Court. They moved in a few months ago. Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive as they have transitioned into their new home. It has not always been easy, the communication between the staff and myself has been excellent, I always know what they are doing
to help my parents settle in. I visit often, and there is a warm welcome everytime. There are a wide range of activities, the residents are given a timetable so they always know what is happening for the week. The home has been very accommodating with regards to food, Mum & Dad are vegetarians, they have had several chats with the chef, and, after a few false starts, are now very happy with what is on offer. It has not been an easy few months, but with the help of everyone at Melford Court they are now settled and happy.
Reply from Lynn Pereira, Marketing and Content Executive at Melford CourtThank you for sharing your experience. We know that moving into a new home is a significant step, and it is reassuring to hear that your parents have felt welcomed and supported as they settled into life at Melford Court. Keeping families closely involved is very important to us, so it is lovely to know that clear communication has helped you feel informed and reassured throughout. We are also pleased that the activities and food arrangements are now working well for your parents. Hearing that they are settled and happy means a great deal to the whole team.

Care staff are brilliant. Nothing too much trouble. Had one incident with a nurse telling me mum she didn't have to go to hospital. She (mum) smelt really bad she had CDIFF. I overrode her, and my mum although bed ridden is happy and well. If I had listened to the nurse my mum would be dead 1 1/2 years
ago. Prices could be a little lower especially when some residents hardly eat much food. Nurses should listen to carers as they know that residents need.
Reply from Lynn Pereira, Marketing and Content Executive at Melford CourtThank you for sharing your feedback. Were delighted to hear your kind words about our care staff and their dedication to supporting residents.

We appreciate you highlighting the importance of strong communication and teamwork when it comes to residents health needs. Feedback like this helps us continue improving our practices and ensuring that nurses, carers, residents, and families work closely together so every decision supports the best possible outcome. We also appreciate your comments about pricing and food needs, and well keep this in mind as we review our services. Thank you again for your thoughtful insights and for the trust you place in us.

I cannot speak highly enough of Stowlangtoft Hall and the exceptional care they provided for my mother during her final months. From the moment she arrived, the staff treated her with genuine warmth, dignity, and compassion. The building and peaceful surroundings really add to the welcoming environment,
making it feel less like a care facility and more like a home.
The level of care was outstanding. The team were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure Mum was comfortable and well looked after. They made her feel valued as a person, not just a patient. The chef cooked her special meals, as she could only eat soft food, and he popped in often to see if she'd liked it.
As a daughter, I felt completely supported. The staff communicated openly with me and made me feel welcome when I visited.
I would recommend Stowlangtoft Hall to any family looking for compassionate, high-quality care. They made a profound difference to us that I will always be grateful for.

I am satisfied with Melford Court. I do think the rooms are very small. Would be difficult for patients to bring their own furniture. There is sometimes a lack of communications when the next nurse takes over due to something not being recorded.
Reply from Lynn Pereira, Marketing and Content Executive at Melford CourtThank you for sharing your thoughts with us. While this isnt reflective of our usual experience, we really appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Were always looking at ways to improve communication between shifts and make sure residents and their families feel fully supported. Your feedback helps us keep Melford Court a welcoming and comfortable home for everyone.

My dear friend has been receiving care for his complex needs at Melford Court for the past 6 months, and I couldn't be more happy with the care he is receiving. As an experienced nurse I notice everything! Melford Court has an open door policy led with compassion and kindness by the very professional
manager and deputy. From the greeting as you enter the home nothing is too much trouble.. very quickly you become relaxed knowing that your loved one is safe with a knowledgeable multidisciplinary team.

My father was a resident at the Stowlangtoft Hall from July to August for end of life care, during the time we received nothing but excellent care and compassion from all at the Hall. My father received excellent care throughout a very difficult time and as a family we also could not ask for more.
The time every member of staff gave us and extended family who visited was very much appreciated and made those last few weeks easier knowing the care being received was exceptional. Thank you to all concerned.

Stowlangtoft Hall

from Fiona S (Cousin of Resident) published on 12 January 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin was in Stowlangtoft from March until November. She wasn't the easiest person, but her care was exemplary throughout. She was unable to walk and mainly bedridden, but she was kept immaculately clean and warm, and latterly had to be turned frequently so there were no bed sores. The food she
had was of excellent quality, very varied, and her dietary requirements were constantly monitored. The nurses and carers really looked after her, had time for a chat, her laundry was lovingly washed and ironed. The cheerful greeting one had from everyone was amazing - and this included the people doing maintenance jobs. The managers always had time to discuss things and reassure me if I had any concerns, and always agreed to any suggestions. It really is a wonderful place, with lovely bright rooms and stunning views. I am just so grateful that she had such a high standard of care throughout her time in Stowlangtoft Hall.

My Dad has lived in Manson House since February 2024 and he is very well looked after by the staff. When I visit, the staff are always very friendly, helpful and chatty. Manson House itself is a lovely building, with plenty of sitting and meeting areas for residents, and beautiful gardens. Also the
central location in Bury St Edmunds is great for my father because he still likes to go out for a walk around town, or meet friends.

My parent has been in Manson House for 3 years, experiencing the original charity management, the transition to a commercial operation and the first commercial sale.
As an approach to time, care and interaction between staff and resident, commercial operations cannot compete with a charity, but Manson
House continues to develop in excellence.
The kindness and dedication of the Carers and Seniors at Manson House is second to none. Taking the time to get to know family members as well as the resident. Annual Reviews are thorough; informing of health developments, GP and hospital visits swift and reassuring. The rapport with NHS services excellent, always calm in the event of emergency.
The property is a pleasure. Domestic staff are helpful and cleanliness high. Fresh food is nutrition researched and excellent: Delicious treats for visitors now, too.The activities team is kind, creative and inclusive. Admin and management approachable, engaged and prompt. Christmas joy is spread here
