Care Homes Owned by Stow Healthcare Group in Suffolk

Very good experience at Brandon Park at all times, when I visit my wife Carol.

My mother in law has been at Brandon Park for over two years now as her Alzheimers has progressed. We are so grateful for the kind and efficient care she receives. We visited several care homes in the area but the caring atmosphere at Brandon Park stood out to us. The staff are so cheerful, calm and kind.

6 full days at home. Observed that about 90% of time no support staff were present on the 1st floor and residents' alarms were on constantly and no one responded. This home is badly understaffed with care staff. The few care staff present are professional, conscientious and caring, but under pressure. Communication between staff is a problem. My mother had to wait for unacceptable lengths of time to be changed and moved and ended up in tears, which we both found distressing. I involved the home manager, who was not much bothered. Agency staff employed who destroy plumbing by flushing inappropriate waste down loos. Lift to 1st floor has a door fault so it will not work. I have walked upstairs many, many times to move lift to ground floor. Fault neglected for months with no explanation. Curtains in dining room falling off rail. Mother gives me many complaints when I visit. Hard work for residents and relatives. Such a relief to leave! Need to do a lot better given fees. laundry is not processed efficiently. laundry is not returned correctly to Room 6. There is no proactive staff retention policy Good Staff leave.

Although she has been unable to take part in everything that's on offer and make new friends with the other residents, due to her being on end of life care and bedbound, I have no doubt that she would have enjoyed it all very much.

My husband was nearing end of life when he moved into the care of Stowlangtoft Hall. It was a traumatic time for us both. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, keeping me well informed of emerging issues and provided the best possible care in what could sometimes be trying and ever-changing circumstances. The home always looked very clean and well kept - not easy in a building of considerable age, decor and rooms were of a high standard, and the grounds of course were expansive and picturesque.

As his family is all based overseas it has been very hard for us to be away from him at this time, and knowing he is in such safe hands is a real comfort. I cannot overstate the quality of the care and the warm, supportive nature of the whole team. We visited in July and have been so impressed and grateful to see him in this environment as such a hard time. I could not recommend Brandon Park more highly.

And they love dogs too :)

My wife has P S P which I know is hard to deal with but as soon as we stepped foot in the nursing home we felt a sense of professionalism. All the staff seemed happy and approachable and they soon had us settled in. The grounds and buildings are very pleasant and parking and access easy. I am thinking of extending the booked respite as I am pleased with the start of my wife's stay. Please keep up this fine work.

The ambience of the home was of warmth and pleasantness, my visitors remarked on this. The help with the bath was excellent, and a treat as a usual constant shower room user. The shower room pump had a few hiccups, but was promptly being reviewed, the room itself was very good and spacious.

Thank you to all the staff at Brandon for their support of both mum and us as a family.

My Dad was admitted to Stowlangtoft Hall for End of Life care for only a few weeks and was already bed bound, the staff treated him with care and respect, the room was clean and tidy, they communicated with us as soon as he was in their care and the compassion they have shown since his passing has been excellent

I was very concerned about putting dad in a home but the level of care/service has been unbelievable and dad is so happy there. Its the staff that make the difference from the cleaning, cooking through to management nothing is to much for them and all make dad feel welcome.

Not only is Stowlangtoft Hall a beautiful old building but the nursing home is run by people who genuinely care and strive to do their utmost to look after their residents as if they were members of their own family, going above and beyond. Moving my elderly Dad in for the final months of his life was definitely the best decision we made.

Kind, caring and considerate staff. Responsive, engaged management and a calm , civilised environment. All set in a beautiful building surrounded by lovely parkland. Many of the bedroooms are very spacious with great outlooks, and the large rooms of the public areas mean it never feels overcrowded. Staff are friendly, cheerful and provide a happy environment. My father is well looked after and feels cared for and safe.

Both my parents are residents of Melford Court. They moved in a few months ago. Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive as they have transitioned into their new home. It has not always been easy, the communication between the staff and myself has been excellent, I always know what they are doing to help my parents settle in. I visit often, and there is a warm welcome everytime. There are a wide range of activities, the residents are given a timetable so they always know what is happening for the week. The home has been very accommodating with regards to food, Mum & Dad are vegetarians, they have had several chats with the chef, and, after a few false starts, are now very happy with what is on offer. It has not been an easy few months, but with the help of everyone at Melford Court they are now settled and happy.

Care staff are brilliant. Nothing too much trouble. Had one incident with a nurse telling me mum she didn't have to go to hospital. She (mum) smelt really bad she had CDIFF. I overrode her, and my mum although bed ridden is happy and well. If I had listened to the nurse my mum would be dead 1 1/2 years ago. Prices could be a little lower especially when some residents hardly eat much food. Nurses should listen to carers as they know that residents need.

I would recommend Stowlangtoft Hall to any family looking for compassionate, high-quality care. They made a profound difference to us that I will always be grateful for.

I am satisfied with Melford Court. I do think the rooms are very small. Would be difficult for patients to bring their own furniture. There is sometimes a lack of communications when the next nurse takes over due to something not being recorded.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Maple Memory Centre at Brandon Park for your loved one. My mum has been a resident for over 12 months now and staff go out of their way to make her feel happy, safe and loved. The staff are fantastic.

To be completely honest we have nothing but good things to say about everyone that works at Melford Court. Each and every one of the staff are kind, friendly and caring. We visit every day and the staff always take time to speak to us and let us know how Dave is doing.
