a choice of 3 lounges plus a conservatory and the residents or visitors could go out into the garden to sit on several benches/eating arrangements. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I was able to spend more time with my husband than I had at home, as I had to do everything there. I had no support being the sole carer. My husband cooperated better with Aden House staff and I felt from the outset he was in loving hands and in a loving atmosphere. The management and the nurse had a very good grasp of his complex medication regime and this gave me confidence that he would take the medication as prescribed which was not always the case at home.

Some of the staff were rude and unpleasant. He was dirty every time I visited with faeces on his hands and clothes. Staff said they couldn't clean him due to aggression. Care records did not once record staff going back and trying again when Dad got agitated by strangers trying to wash him in an unfamiliar environment. There were no de-escalation techniques or basic dementia communication. The home manager said she didn't know about my dad's 'behaviours' but my dad does not behave the way he did in that home when in the community. He was like a caged animal, unstimulated, ignored, and showed no care. They also put 'DNACPR' next to Dad's name when not discussed with me. He is 75.
