The resident was fully able to make their own decisions, and we respected their autonomy in line with our duty of care. While we understand the family's concerns, our approach was guided by the resident's rights and preferences. There are instances where family's expectations may be unrealistic e.g. reducing number of falls even further. We regret that we were unable to fully meet the family's expectations in this case.Written evidence was provided to CQC contradicting your claims above. Regarding your comments on pain relief, we understand how important timely medication is, especially post-surgery. Unfortunately, we must adhere to strict regulations around the storage and administration of controlled drugs, which can sometimes lead to unavoidable delays. We appreciate how frustrating this can be and will continue to review our processes to ensure the best possible experience for our residents. With regard to meal times, we recognise that an early supper may not suit everyone. A light menu is available 24 hours a day on request, we appreciate your feedback and we will make this clearer in our welcome guide.
