My father went to Parkside three years ago after he was devastated by Covid. He was no longer able to walk and was in a very confused state. We were initially unable to visit due to Covid restrictions but were kept informed of his condition by the staff. When restrictions were eased and we were able to visit and actually meet the staff they were all very kind and always told us stories of how Dad was doing. Fortunately, Covid abated and we were able to visit normally. Dad was always well-turned out, happy and well fed. He often said how much he enjoyed his meals. As he deteriorated we could see how hard the staff worked to keep him happy and comfortable. He developed great relationships with them and was clearly content with his life there. I would wholeheartedly recommend Parkside as a happy, compassionate and safe place. I’m glad we chose them to take care of Dad.
The manager and all staff I have met have a wonderful with empathy and ability to understand residents' needs, which are many and varied. The respect for individuals' preferences and needs are met with understanding and good humour. I am always welcome when I visit. I am fully informed promptly on any issues or health problems. I have full confidence and trust in the knowledge that my husband is safe, well nourished, and kept hygienic. He is encouraged and takes part in many varied activities on offer. I would recommend Southway without hesitation.
As for me, 76, ex-Royal Navy many years ago where I got asbestosis, my thoughts when told I must go into a care home, terrified, thoughts of stale urine, and more. NoNoNo, excellent in every way, I look forward to every day here and am very happy and content.
I wrote a review last year when my Mother first went into this care home. She has been here almost a year and she is well cared for, looked after and I have no concerns or worries about her. She's happy, always cheerful and absolutely loves the carers. Only a slight concern I have is she doesn't appear to have Dementia as bad as the other residents so she only communicates with us her family who visit daily and the carers and other residential visitors she gets on very well with, I just wish there was someone that she could actually be more friendly with who also lives there. The other residents don't seem to communicate with her, she did make a friend who was only there for respite for a few months but has gone into another home permanently as there was not enough room for her to stay. I just hope she can return when there is a room available.
I feel at ease leaving my partner there under there care as this was a difficult time in my life.
Wonderful care home. Staff extremely kind and caring. Looked after mum so well. Would recommend highly. The staff treated mum with care and dignity, always ready to chat and make drinks and snacks available. The whole family were delighted with mums care.
I cannot recommend this home enough.
