Normanhurst Residential Home, located in the quiet tree-lined area of Castle Hill, near Maidenhead provide provide dementia and residential care. The building dates back to the 19th century, with wonderful views and convenient access to nearby amenities, including a short walk to the town centre and leisure facilities.

Life at Normanhurst is built around a philosophy of providing seniors with a truly happy and secure homely environment that allows service users to remain active and independent with a strong emphasis on personal choice, privacy and dignity.

Service users are encouraged to participate in as many activities as they are capable of, these ranging from person-centred exercise, games and relaxing in the garden to musical events and regular outings. There are also regular visits from the hairdresser, chiropodist, the local library, musicians and local churches.

My mum was a resident at Normanhurst for a year.
This is an outstanding residential home. The level of care my mum received, at all levels, was second to none.
The manager and her team run a lovely, friendly home with a lovely family and personalised feel. There are lots of activities, parties, barbecues and outings for those who are able.
When my mum became unwell and had to be admitted to hospital, the manager visited her and helped with feeding and drinking. When she returned back to Normanhurst, it was apparent she was at the end of life.
The staff could not have done anymore in terms of their kindness, respect and dignity shown towards her, and to myself and my family, in the last weeks and days of her life.
My mum had a very happy time at Normanhurst and I will be forever grateful and reassured that in her final year she was so well cared for.
I work as a GP, but have no affiliation or professional association with Normanhurst. I would recommend Normanhurst without reservation.

My mother has now been at Normanhurst for several years and is extremely happy and settled there. The staff are wonderfully supportive and caring with her and keep me very well informed of all medical issues. There are various organised activities throughout the week and a hairdresser visits on a weekly basis. The meals are prepared and cooked to a very high standard. On the strength of mums experience, my aunt has recently joined her too. I would unreservedly recommend Normanhurst to anyone looking for a care home.

My mother, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident of Normanhurst for just over two years and during that time, I have always been impressed with the level care she receives. Apart from suffering from dementia, my mother has other age-related illnesses and I do feel that her health has improved since she has been at Normanhurst. The staff are extremely caring and friendly and I am always kept informed of my mother's welfare. As a relative, I am free to see my mother at any time of the day and I am always made to feel very welcome when I am there. The meals are cooked fresh every day and plenty of drinks are always available for the residents.

Thank you to all the staff at Normanhurst for looking after my mother so well. I really do not know what I would do without you!

Mum is always kept clean, her room is spotless. The staff seem to know how to handle mum, she has severe Alzheimer’s and can be difficult at times. They are always very friendly and we are kept informed of any changes in mum’s care.

My mum, who was a dementia patient, was really "cared" for by the owner and her wonderful team at Normanhurst for some 9 years. We were able to visit her at any reasonable time, without notice, and have no hesitation in offering our fullest recommendation. I will always be immensely grateful.

Every time I come to see my mum there is always a warm welcome. When I ask about how she has been getting on the management and staff can always tell me. If there is a problem then I am kept informed which reassures me that she is always well looked after.
When I am with my mum in her room there are always staff making sure she is okay. Seeing the same staff on a regular basis gives continuity and consistency to my mums routine.

Normanhurst Residential Home has a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. A dedicated staff team work together to provide excellent care for each of the residents, knowing them as individuals and responding to their needs with dignity, care and attention. The home is clean, fresh and well maintained. Appetising food is offered. I am confident that my mother is safe and well cared for here.

My 92-year-old mother is receiving excellent care at Normanhurst. There is a very friendly atmosphere in the home and the staff and family owners are very caring and ensure the residents are well looked after and happy.
The home is very comfortable with nice food. My mother particularly enjoyed sitting out in the sunny rear garden last year and cannot wait to do the same this year.

Mum has been a resident at Normanhurst Residential Home for 8 months, and she has settled very well due to the care and kindness of the owners and care assistants, who work tirelessly to make sure that all the residents are, clean, comfortable and settled.
The activities are good and often have people from outside the home to come in and entertain the residents in various ways, such as musical performances, indoor bowls, singing and other various hobbies.
The rooms are clean and tidy, beds made every day, mum has her own bathroom and toilet, they also are encouraged to bring various personal belongings from their own homes.
The food is great, freshly made by the cook in the kitchen, and smells wonderful when you visit near mealtimes, varied menus every week.
My wife and I are so pleased with high standard of care all the staff provide, and they always have a cheery smile and a warm greeting when we go to visit.
Keep up the Good work!!!

Mum has been at Normanhurst for five months. During these five months, with the excellent care in a safe and loving environment, Mum has settled in very nicely. No more terrible mood swings. She is very calm and happy now. It is obvious that Normanhurst has made every effort to individualise her care. Her needs have been carefully evaluated and provided. For example, specially cooked Chinese food are often provided to her; the staff chose activities that Mum still enjoys doing and which may help retain her functional abilities as long as possible, such as making Chinese dumplings in the kitchen, doing number board, coloring, doing very simple sums, reading Chinese newspaper and magazines etc. Every time when we visited mum, the care home is always clean, and the staff are always smiling and caring. We feel very relieved that mum is in good hands.

Normanhurst provides an outstanding level of service. Care is first class and very personal as well as completely professional. The staff, including the owner are always available and delightful. There is a real homey atmosphere and the rooms are pleasant and bright.

I cannot rate them highly enough and have already recommended them to others and will do so in the future.
