Bartlett's, Portway Rd, Stone, Buckinghamshire is a wonderful place should you be looking for a place to ensure a loved one gets top-class care and friendship. I could not recommend them highly enough. They are a wonderful team who make sure everything is just perfect for your loved ones.
In life, you have to make several really difficult decisions but probably I believe the most difficult one involves a loved one who is now unable to look after themselves anymore.
Most probably they have lived in their present home for many years and your concern is how will they accept having to move away from their home. Will they feel that by moving them into a assisted living or residential care home that you no longer care for them, not that you want what is best for them. Most importantly will they settle in.
It most certainly is a very difficult decision to make. We faced this decision 3 years ago and decided to leave our friend in her own home with 24hr care.
This proved to be a bad decision on our behalf, the care package fell well short of that promised. The turnover of care workers was unbelievable and this was really confusing to her. Her appearance slowly went downhill as did her health.
We were recommended Peveral Court Care by a friend so we visited Bartlett's Care Home in Stone Buckinghamshire. From the moment you drive in through the motorized iron gates and walked into the beautiful building you had the feeling that this was a very special place. The management and staff are so friendly and the ambience of the place is excellent.
The decision was taken that our friend would be far happier living there and be far better looked after than the care she was receiving at home.
Within a few weeks of living there, her appearance and health improved. She had her hair and nails done regularly by the visiting hairdresser. Her clothes always looked clean and well pressed. She was now looking like the old friend we all knew and loved.
When I visited her at her own home during the last few months she lived there she would become very cross and frustrated at the point of me having to leave. I never experienced this during her living at Bartlett's and she really enjoyed living there.
Nothing ever seems too much bother for any of the staff. They always seemed to be happy and enjoyed working there and the majority of them have worked there for several years. It was always a pleasure when visiting to have a chat with these lovely people.
To our relief with the excellent kindness and care she received she soon settled in and appeared to be very happy at Bartlett's.
The dining rooms with the white tablecloths had a hotel feeling and having eaten there on a few occasions the food was very good and well presented.
On one occasion, 6 of us sat down with her for a pre-Christmas Dinner with a nice wine and the staff made sure that it was special for us all There is regular entertainment and different activities for residents to help keep them occupied. The Summer Garden Parties I attended along with the Christmas Parties were very enjoyable. The impromptu Cabaret performance by the staff at one of the Christmas parties brought big smiles to all of our faces. Bartlett's staff make sure that every resident and their families have a great time at these parties.
It was a great relief for us to know that our friend was happy there and most importantly knowing that she was receiving the excellent care she deserved.
When ever I visited her, within minutes of arriving, a member of staff would offer me a drink.
The care and friendship she received during her stay at Bartlett's before her death was excellent.
The last few weeks of her life were made as comfortable as possible and with dignity by all the caring staff.
You will not regret entrusting your loved ones to Bartlett's, in fact like us, you will wish you had probably done it earlier.

A Big Thank You To All The Wonderful Staff For Your Professionalism In Caring For Her.

My father in law and mother in law were welcomed into Bartlett's after increasingly struggling to manage at home. Every effort was made to help them settle in, including a thorough assessment of their needs both as individuals and as a married couple. They were able to move familiar and loved belongings, such as items of furniture, and paintings for the walls, and were able to create a small sitting area in the larger of the two adjoining rooms. We have seen a huge improvement in their physical and emotional well being. My mother in law feels safe in the care of the staff and we no longer receive the distressed phone calls which were frequent prior to admission. Father in law has taken longer to settle but has been helped by the patience and understanding of all the staff. Both now enjoy the daily activities, and he has been encouraged to try and use his talents to teach an art class to other residents. We have been welcomed as a whole family and are very happy with all aspects of Bartlett's care.

In the past I have seen/heard of the 'conditions' at care homes. So when in October 2017 my mother needed to go to a care home. I devoted considerable time to check references etc to make sure my mother got the service she deserved.

Bartlett's provided a level of care that I did not know was possible. After 5 months of visits I am completely sure that the below scoring is an accurate reflection of the realities of service provided at Bartlett's. I live far away so it is a great relief to know my mother is so well cared for.

We were seeking a suitable care home for my father as he had had a number of falls at home and this combined with diminishing capabilities through dementia, necessitated greater care than could be provided by daily visiting carers. Immediately we entered Bartlett's we had a very good impression - which remained with us for the entire 12 months of my fathers stay. His care at Bartlett's was everything we'd hoped it would be and his eventual passing in November 2017 was handled with great dignity and consideration, both for my father and the family. I would highly recommend Bartlett's to anyone seeking a safe and caring environment for elderly family members.

My experience was wonderful. My father has late stage Alzheimers and I had been looking after him at home for over a year thinking I would never find anywhere that would look after him like I did. How wrong I was, Barletts and the staff are outstanding with Dad's best interests the priority, however, they also look after me as it has been a big wrench.

The staff are very well trained and know how to deal with dementia in the residents. The manager runs the home with such enthusiasm and drive, she is a complete star. I would not think twice to recommend Barlett's.

Always greeted by warm, friendly staff on every visit. Never seen the home untidy or unclean. The staff are exceptional and all genuinely care for every resident. We visited other homes before and this stood out for being so much better in every way.

Entertainment and events are always being arranged, whilst individuals' needs are met. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful for residents, sitting out in summer and looking onto in bad weather to see horses and manicured lawns. Beautiful.

Most important the staff always use my wife's name. She has improved in appearance and mood, even making jokes with family. The home is so so clean and m wife's room could not be better. We always seem to be offered tea, biscuits or cake. My wife and I both feel at home at Bartletts Residential Care Home. The standard is excellent.

We had to make the decision to put my grandad in a home. He is very special to us so it had to be a good one as his dementia got worse and he kept falling. We visited half a dozen and this was head and shoulders above the rest - no comparison.

It hasn't let us down - it is so homely we're always made to feel welcome they have events/activities on all the time and look after my grandad amazingly well. We love being involved and they keep me well informed about his health and we really couldn't wish for more. I would recommend this home in a heartbeat and the staff are so friendly and they bend over backwards to make him happy and safe. In my opinion, I don't think you could find better.

My mother in law was at the home for 3 years.
She was well looked after in every respect.
The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble.
Unfortunately, she passed away on 2nd July this year but her care during her final days was second to none.

My mother went into Bartlett's Residential Care Home when she was 100 years old after she had a fall at home and broke her hip. We did not think that she would live for long after the operation as she was in a bad way. However, due to the high level of care that she received in the home, she lived until she was 103 years old and recently passed away. I cannot praise the staff enough for the wonderful care she received and for the entertainment provided and the superb food supplied which is cooked fresh every day by the chef. I would thoroughly recommend Bartlett's Residential Care Home to anyone looking for a superior home.

The care my Granddad has received since joining Bartletts has been wonderful. The work these guys do in Bartletts is truly amazing. Sometimes care homes don't have the best reputations and I will be completely honest, personally having had no experience with care homes previously, this was what I expected to happen across most of them. This couldn't have been further from the truth with Bartletts. They are patient, fragile, understanding, and complete experts in their fields. Another thing I love about Bartletts is, being a visitor myself, the way we are treated. Nothing is too much trouble and you feel like you are getting special treatment, but that's just the way they treat everyone.

I couldn't recommend Bartletts any higher for anyone considering care homes, especially for people with Dementia.
