I am so thankful we found Hollymede Cottage, my mum stayed there for the last 18 months of her life. The manager and her team are totally dedicated to making the residents feel loved and happy whilst also encouraging them to have fun by joining in the numerous activities. Mum loved the banter and the endless cups of tea! When my mum passed their care and compassion exceeded all expectations and their support to me and my daughters will always be remembered and appreciated. It is a huge decision to place a loved one in care but visit Hollymede and meet with the manager and her team as this will certainly put your mind at rest.

My mum has been a resident of Hollymede for 7 years now. I moved Mum from a larger home. I am grateful every day that we got her a place at Hollymede. The feel of the place is warm, friendly, inviting, happy and homely. Mum's needs have changed several times over the 7 years and Hollymede have been able to adapt perfectly. The staff are absolutely wonderful from the top down. I cannot recommend them enough. Everyone is extremely gentle, kind, compassionate and so caring. I love visiting Mum, all the residents feel like they are my relatives as you get to know everyone. There are brilliant activities catering for everyone and excellent entertainment. Every possible occasion and major event is celebrated. There is always something going on. I cannot praise the manager and all the team enough for their amazing care, kindness, emotional support and advice. I thoroughly recommend it. The food is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. It doesn't feel like a care home, just home. Thank you so much.

We decided to move our mother from a very expensive “5-star” care home, because she wasn’t getting the care she needed, to Hollymede Cottage. Whilst its decor didn’t hold up to the five-star home its care and homely ambience very much surpassed it. The carers stayed at the home for a long time and took the time to understand my mum's complex needs. Sadly, after more than 5 years at the home, mum passed away last March, at the age of 93, her care was faultless and she was loved and comfortable throughout her passing. We were always made to feel welcome and part of the family. I will forever feel grateful. Thank you

Finding Hollymede Cottage for my mum to be cared for in her last years was without a doubt the best decision we ever made for her. The moment my dad and I arrived to look around, without giving prior notice, it felt like a family welcoming us into their comfortable home. We seriously cannot fault the care, attention and kindness they showed to my mum who unfortunately had dementia and was a resident at Hollymede for over six years. All of the staff go out of their way to make it a comfortable, happy environment to live in and family are encouraged to call in at any time to be included in their loved ones' lives as much as they can. You are constantly kept up to date with things, health, care, meals being served, invited to join in with various social gatherings and they cater as much as they can for each individual resident. Having experienced so much in Hollymede with my mum, I can honestly say that if I ever needed residential care I would choose Hollymede for myself! 100% recommend it!

A lovely, friendly atmosphere. Very caring staff. My aunt was very happy here. Lots of lovely photos taken by staff of her dancing, singing, painting, crafting. Her health deteriorated quite suddenly and she was cared for with love and kindness. Her end of life care was was exceptionally good. Couldn't have asked for more.

My aunt has been in the home for the past 5 years and we have nothing but praise for how they have looked after her. I would highly recommend Hollymede Cottage to anyone who has the difficult decision to put a loved one in a care home. Like anyone we had worries and concerns when she first went in, but Hollymede is more like a 'home' than a care home. The carers are amazing as are the chefs in the kitchen. It's just like a big family. The staff go above and beyond, even going out of their way in their own time to purchase clothes on our behalf for my aunt, nothing is too much trouble. They are approachable, knowledgeable, and have always put our minds at rest if there are changes in my aunt (physically or mentally). The care home manager is always sending us updates and photos which is greatly appreciated. Myself and my family couldn't recommend this home and the staff highly enough. We feel very lucky to have my aunt being looked after here.

We found and chose Hollymede Cottage for my father, he has been living there for nearly two years now, and during this time his general health has improved vastly. There are home-cooked meals every day at Hollymede from its own kitchen and chef. My father is happy there and very well looked after. He is always clean and comfortable when I visit him, and his room is also comfortable for him and a good size. Hollymede is a smaller care home and is a home for my father now, I've found every member of staff there truly caring professional and would recommend Hollymede Cottage.

When my grandad had to move into a home straight from the hospital I was worried however as soon as we came through the front door my worries melted away within an instant. My granddad has been here since the end of August and we feel so lucky he got placed here. The staffing team are all so lovely and cares about the residents. It now feels like we have an extended family.
We couldn't have been luckier, I think my nan is still looking over her husband and made sure he went somewhere he would be looked after just as we do.

1000% recommend Hollymede Cottage.

Overall Experience
Hollymede Cottage is a small care home. My initial impression was that it certainly doesn’t have a clinical feel. I think this, the experienced staff and the standard of food are the main reasons my father settled in so quickly.
From the top down the staff are professional and friendly. Continued development and training are encouraged. Above all, they genuinely care for the residents. Meals are nutritious and maintain a high standard they are all cooked in-house.
All the resident's needs are catered for including visiting chiropractic and hairdressing. There is regular entertainment which everyone including families is welcome to enjoy. As such all are made to feel welcome and part of the wider family.

In particular, I value the fact that It is possible to discuss any problems or questions with the house manager. She is approachable and often her experience has proved invaluable.
