Honey Lane Care Home provides award-winning, residential care for individuals living with dementia. The home supports those aged under and over 65, including residents with a diagnosis of early-onset dementia or experiencing memory loss.

The skilled care team, led by qualified Dementia Interpreter Angela Sacks, ensures that residents live meaningful lives by receiving person-centred care, stimulation, and social interaction. This is reflected in the home’s numerous award wins, including being national finalists at the 2025 Dementia Care Awards, and rated in the UK’s Top 20 Mid-sized Care Group 2025 by carehome.co.uk.

The vibrant atmosphere at Honey Lane is unlike any other care home, and residents are encouraged to spend their days engaged in purposeful activities tailored to their interests and abilities. These include music and movement classes, reminiscence activities, animal therapy, and weekly outings in the home’s minibus.

Sensory Namaste Care sessions offer daily soothing hand massages, calming aromatherapy and sound therapy, delivered by trained team members to promote relaxation.

Underpinned by strong community links and innovative partnerships, Honey Lane hosts a dementia support group, a Make-a-Wish initiative, and its own ‘Little Honey Bees’ intergenerational project whilst welcoming visits from local schools and charities.

Honey Lane is laid out on one floor, enabling residents to move easily and safely around the home with direct access to the beautiful central garden that offers a tranquil space, and a kitchen garden where residents can get involved in a variety of gardening activities. Dottie, the therapy cat, also calls Honey Lane her home.

The team receives extensive on-going training and professional development to support all residents to live well.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
We had issues with staffing levels, general cleanliness and communication between the care home and the residents family. The first two issues appear to have been remedied. There is at times still lack of communication between the home and the residents family, particularly when requesting feedback
on some personal issues relating to our family member. We have recently had issues (on 2 occasions) where our family member's specific personal aids went missing, which were not noticed by the staff (it would appear) and by the time a family member noticed the aids were missing, they cannot be found. We are however happy with the care given by the staff to our family member.
Reply from Karen Dean, Manager at Honey Lane Care HomeWe are really glad that we were able to work with this family to ensure that all of their concerns were addressed and they were happy with the outcome. Mums hearing aid was found, it was very well hidden ! We always strive to deliver an excellent level of care to our residents and support their relatives through their journey.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.786) out of 10 for Honey Lane Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.811 for Honey Lane Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (190 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.811
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Honey Lane Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
