What a great care home. My wife has been in care at Oakdale since the beginning of the year and has been well looked after. The manager and her team are very caring and patient and make my wife feel at home. I go to see my wife every day and they make me welcome. If you are looking for care for a loved
one I would certainly recommend Oakdale.

Lovely home. Very caring staff. They went out of their way to make Mum feel welcome and settle in. Will not hesitate to use them again. They were also very welcoming to family. They provided plenty of activities which Mum really enjoyed.

My husband has been at Oakdale since June 2023 and is very happy there. The staff are caring and attentive to his health and other needs. They take the time to build relationships with residents and their families, and the whole atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The food is good, and the home is
very clean. They run activities for residents and encourage as many as possible to participate. I would not hesitate to recommend Oakdale to anyone looking to place a relative in a home.

I posted a review last August praising the care my stepmother received during her first 6 months in Oakdale. Since then her condition has deteriorated and she is now in the later stages of dementia. She is no longer mobile and sleeps much of the time. The care and compassion with which she is treated
is amazing. My stepmother is deaf, says very little and no longer recognises me. However, on my last visit in a lucid moment said quite clearly 'they're very good to me here'. It is such a comfort that she is not only looked after so well but is also happy. I cannot thank each member of staff enough.

After researching long and hard to find a good home for my sister, I went to Oakdale and chose this home.
I realised very soon that I had made the right decision.
All of the staff are very kind and caring, including the office, kitchen, activity worker and handyman staff.
The manager is very approachable
and answers any questions that are asked of her.
The cleanliness throughout the home is good and does not have a bad odour as you find in some homes.
My sister seems to be happy living in Oakdale.

My mother was in Oakdale for ten months. She was in a lovely room full of light and plenty of activities going on around. The atmosphere and homely feeling of Oakdale were just what she needed. She had caring and attentive staff, all with different personalities, which made her day-to-day life interesting.
The level of care was excellent. Her room was always clean. Her clothes were always laundered well. She had special food requirements that were always met. She has recently passed away, and I can honestly say my husband and I feel very lucky we found Oakdale and that my mum finished her days in that very warm and safe environment with such caring and lovely people.

Mum has been at Oakdale for two years and eight months, but due to covid and restrictions, it has not been possible to celebrate Christmas with her. Yesterday, as a family we were invited to the residents' Christmas party. A wonderful afternoon of entertainment, fun, Santa and a magnificent buffet spread.
Apart from enjoying ourselves with Mum as a family, it was wonderful to meet other residents with their family and friends and to see the interaction and care given by staff to the residents, was brilliant. The gifts given by Santa (staff member) to all the residents were so well thought of and from the faces of the residents, they were greatly touched and appreciated. Many thanks to you all.

From the minute my Mum went into Oakdale, the manager and her staff were amazing. It was hard for us to decide whether a care home would be the right option for Mum for respite as she has vascular dementia. What was supposed to be three weeks turned into three months. We cannot thank the staff for looking
after Mum so well. Would not hesitate in putting mum there permanently if needed.

This is a small care home and as such has a friendly family atmosphere.
Staff are friendly and know the clients well. They are aware of clients individual interests.
They will do their best to accommodate these.
Communication is sometimes an issue but always gets sorted out, as do personal belongings.
Staff
are willing to assist in helping relatives to gather appropriate information when needed.
I have also been allowed to eat with my husband, free of charge and have taken home cooked food and summer picnics.

What an amazing home is Oakdale! My mum was a resident there for almost 11-years, and I've always been treated as much a part of the Oakdale family as Mum was. Their personalised care and love for each and every resident is remarkable, and any little concern is always looked into immediately. The whole
ethos of the home is to be person-centred, and the staff are keen to work with families to provide as positive an experience as possible for the residents. The home is always clean and sweet-smelling, the residents in clean clothes every day and well-groomed, the staff always smiley and welcoming/encouraging - and the food: not only always beautifully presented on the plate but delicious too!

Like everyone else, I'm sure, I've always been made to feel that Mum was special to Oakdale. And recently, the manageress has gone over and above the call of duty to support me and another family member and to help secure funding for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.857)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.857) out of 10 for Oakdale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.857 for Oakdale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (406 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 469 Ratings = 4.857
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakdale Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
