My dad stayed at Oakdale for 4 years. He was very poorly when he went in but was really happy there and so well looked after. I can't talk more highly of all the staff, especially the management.

I live in New Zealand and I have every confidence and peace of mind that Mum is not only receiving the best care, but seems very content and relaxed. I have visited in June and have been in Oakdale every day at various times. The staff are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. I love the way the staff continually interact with the residents if only a small touch when passing. I love the way you are made to feel like a part of a big family, but their focus remains with the residents. Healthy, nutritious, varied food. Stimulation. Lovely, I am booking my place.

I find the staff to be extremely caring, friendly and helpful. Whenever I have had any concerns, they have always taken them seriously and put my mind at rest. I know Mum is in good hands at Oakdale. I'm really impressed with the communication at Oakdale. They always let me know if they are concerned about Mum and keep me informed as to what is happening.

My Nan has been a resident at Oakdale for over a year now and I cannot find fault. It is always clean and staff are always ready and waiting to help. Staff are kind and friendly and always remember family members of residents. There is also excellent entertainment on hand.

My Wife attends Oakdale Residential home 3 days per week at their day centre from 9.30 - 6.00. She originally attended another one, but after 18 months they suggested Oakdale because they thought that, due to my Wifes deterioration due to her severe Alzheimers they would be in a better position to cope. She has been there approximately 6 weeks and since then there has been a big improvement in her behaviour, which is because of the stimulation she receives from the staff as well as the very happy situation the staff create. I cannot thank the home enough for the massive improvement in my Wifes condition.

We were reticent about placing mum into a care home but since she moved into Oakdale, we have been delighted by the care she has received and the improvement we have seen in her overall wellbeing. Her appetite has improved and she has benefited from the regular attention she receives and the structured environment and activities provided for the residents.

Whenever we visit mum, any of the staff are able to tell us how mum has been and where she is. She has a good relationship with all the staff and enjoys their company. The general atmosphere in Oakdale always welcoming and friendly and relatives are always made to feel at home. The food always looks very appetising and everywhere appears very clean.

From our experience, we would have no hesitation in recommending Oakdale. The care mum receives and knowing she is in such good hands and safe gives us great peace of mind.

My wife first came to Oakdale for daycare to give me some respite, and I must say everybody from management to staff has been absolutely fantastic and supportive of both me and my wife.

My wife is now a full-time resident of Oakdale and the settling in period has been hard for my wife and I, mainly because of my wife's challenging behaviour, but management and staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty and I cannot thank them enough.

The home helped arrange taxi transportation of the client from her home to Oakdale Care Home for a trial 3 week period. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and the client was quickly made to feel "at home." We enjoyed lunch with the client, joined by two of the staff before saying goodbye. It was a welcoming and friendly introduction.

I was most impressed by the genuinely warm and caring welcome we had when we first introduced our relative to Oakdale Residential Care. On the subsequent visit, we were delighted to see our relative looking happy and healthy. We were able to talk privatively to the Manager and to our relative, then a joint meeting which was friendly, compassionate and productive. The whole atmosphere was one of fun, enablement and care.

My mum is in latter stage Alzheimer's and has been attending Oakdale Care Home 3 days a week as a day resident from April '17. The staff at Oakdale are very caring and this gives me piece of mind that she is being looked after which enables me to continue working. They are very flexible with the time I drop off / pick up my mum. Also, I know that if I have something on at the weekend, I can take her there, which allows me to continue doing things with my family.

She has also stayed at Oakdale for Respite Care for two weeks, while we were on holiday, which was very appreciated as they know her and she is happy there, which let us enjoy our holiday without worrying about her.

On visiting one sister for three years, when my second sister needed care, my whole family were happy when told she could go into this care home and join our sister.
The staff are so caring, the food is excellent. A perfect and safe home, lovely craft days to keep residents 'on the ball'. Visitors are made very welcome.

Couldn't wish for anything better.

Mum has recently become a resident at Oakdale after a few months as respite day care.
Since being a resident mum has improved in her mobility, eating and seems extremely settled.
The manager has gone all out to make her feel settled and has given excellent support to us, her family, very efficient.
There is never a shortage of staff who are always willing to help and make us all feel comfortable.
We were allowed to personalise mum's room with pictures, photos and plants.
There's activity planned, old-time music and specialised books for the residents, with interactive rooms and quiet rooms.

All in all very, very delighted with Oakdale and the manager and staff go all out and over and above care of duty.

My husband left hospital and was taken to Oakdale in May. Within an hour, he looked cared for - clean, shaven, dressed in pyjamas and had a look of inner peace. The frightened look had gone from his eyes and he was relaxed.

No one could have done more to make him feel comfortable and "at home". Unfortunately, his illness had become so severe that he died. I was so glad that he was in Oakdale for his final 3 days. I have no hesitation in saying that I have never seen another care home give such loving care, kindness and dedication to help both residents and their families.

Reply from Melanie Tucknott, Home Manager at Oakdale Care Home
Thank you for your very kind words, it means such a lot. It was a real privilege to get to know you both, and to be there for you when we had to say goodbye. Oakdale's door is always open for a coffee, or a chat - you are always welcome. I wish you nothing but health and happiness
Fondest wishes

What a wonderful care home. All the people from the person in charge, to every member of the care staff, are incredible. From the time I first set foot in the place, I had a really good feeling. The friendly nature of the staff, the atmosphere, the activities for the residents, the food choices, the choice of lounge to relax in, to the chilled approach to families and visiting are brilliant. Quite simply everything you would wish for when your loved ones need to be cared for.
The care staff are just so attentive, caring, compassionate and went out of their way to ensure my mother in law settled in.

Such a relief and comfort to know she is in good hands.

After 3 months of caring for my friend who lives in Upminster, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, it was evident he needed care and I was so lucky that a room was available at Oakdale in Benfleet, where I live. What a lovely care home it is, bright, cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. The relief of knowing he will be well looked after is wonderful. I cannot thank them enough for all their dedicated care and attention to my friend. Plus I can visit anytime. I would definitely recommend Oakdale to anyone. Thank you.
