Set in a leafy, residential area in Laindon, just outside of Basildon, Oaklands Care Home is a well presented and modern setting which prides itself on delivering high quality and person-centred residential and residential dementia care.

Inside, the home boasts cosy living areas, en suite bedrooms and welcoming dining rooms which have all been carefully designed to offer a relaxing and comfortable space for residents to enjoy. The hairdressing salon and treatment room provide further opportunities for relaxation and the lovely garden space is the ideal spot for spending time with friends and family.

My mother has been at this care home for six months now, and the care she has received has been first-rate. The home is very well run and efficient, and the staff are always very pleasant and welcoming on my visits. Mum says the food is excellent!

My family and I are extremely happy with the care my mum is receiving at Oaklands Care Home. The staff are so loving and caring towards my mum, always stopping to talk to her and give her a cuddle. There is almost daily entertainment and always something going on. Mum is well cared for and looked after.

My mother has been at Oaklands Care Home for a month now. I am so full of admiration for the deputy manager and her staff. They have all treated us with the greatest respect, kindness and professionalism.
Nothing is too much trouble, everyone is treated as an individual and care given is adapted appropriately.

Every time I have visited here unexpectedly, nothing has been too much trouble. The staff do their utmost even when under pressure.
Today I feel this is important to remember, how you are with the staff is very important bearing in mind they too are under pressure in the roles they play.

When we picked up my dad from care home he was so weak that he looked like he was from a concentration camp. He couldn't sit down anymore and couldn't even eat. We called an ambulance and they immediately took him to the hospital. The next day I received a call from the hospital that he was almost completely
dehydrated and both kidneys were damaged, also throat, and stomach.

My husband went into this home for respite on the 14th June 2023. He walked in himself, was able to shower himself, feed himself, and go to the toilet with guidance himself. He has Alzheimer's disease. On day five he took a fall, an ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital as he had banged
his head. He has now been there for five weeks awaiting the appropriate nursing home for his care. He is now bedbound, incontinent and his illness has progressed 20 fold. He has also become an aggressive man toward anyone other than the family who tries to help him.
Upon Hospital admission, it was found he has a urine infection and a very full bowel which was causing the aggressive behaviour. The home was told about his bowel problem and how to handle it and medication was given to them on admission.
I truly believe something happened there with staff not taking enough care of his needs when they were fully aware of his needs on admission for this respite.

I visited my mum and was made very welcome by the staff. I find the staff and managers very friendly. They have so much time for the residents. I can leave my mum with peace of mind. I don't have to worry.

My husband has been a resident of the Oaklands Care Home for five months, and he has settled in really well. I couldn't wish for a nicer place for him to be, as the management and the care staff are all fantastic. My husband has recently spent six weeks in the hospital with a urine infection, and during
those six weeks, the staff didn't get him out of bed once. When he was sent back to the home, I was told along with the home that my husband was bedbound, but with dedication from the staff, he was walking again the next day, for which I was truly grateful for, and he is improving all the time. My dad was recently in the hospital for a few weeks; he wasn’t allowed out of bed, so we were told he had become bedbound. On arrival, back at the care home, they had him up and about, walking. The time and care taken by the staff were second to none. Now he is up and walking; they still take the time
and care to keep him active. Brilliant staff and the home is very clean. Cannot find any faults whatsoever; thank you to all the team.

The current manager has been extremely good and since her arrival standards have improved considerably.
