Review from Nikki P (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 March 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I have just moved my father out of Park View after a disappointing respite stay. Issues included:
- He was discharged from the hospital without any medication, and despite the care home having a list of his pre-hospital medications, they failed to arrange any in the nearly four weeks he was there.
- As someone with POA, I requested a copy of his care plan. I was told it may be delayed as it needed to be "redacted by head office." Nearly two weeks later, I still haven't received it, nor am I clear about why/what needed redacting - despite this being crucial for making informed decisions about his care.
- My father asked often to go outside, only to be told they were "too busy". While I understand care homes can be stretched, it was frustrating to see staff sitting on their phones during visits, rather than engaging with residents.
- His house keys were left in another resident's room, and almost all of his clothes were lost.

I hope this feedback encourages some improvements.

Very active care home that genuinely care. There is always something different going on and every effort is made to engage as many residents as possible. All the staff including the carers, cleaners, laundry lady and management take a real interest in each resident.

Such wonderful staff and very good front of house manners on the phone too. Very informative, helpful and pleasant. I am glad my mother is being cared for by such professionals as she deserves in her twilight years.

The staff look after my mother-in-law very well. She has now been in Park View for over three years and we are very happy as to how she is looked after. Communication with all staff members is excellent. The home is always welcoming and spotlessly clean. Weekly activities take place and you can see from the photos how much the residents enjoy them. My wife and I live a long way from Essex, so it is satisfying and rewarding to know that she is being looked after in very safe hands.

We cannot recommend Park View more highly.

Since the recent change of management, there has been a noticeable change in staff attitude, and as the recently resurrected social media shows the activities enjoyed by the residents are enjoyed by all. Puts a smile on my face! Definitely a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Dad has found it more enjoyable.

Park View took a lot of stress out of the difficult time. They were patient and looked after Mum well. They were friendly and communicative. Mum built a good rapport with the care team and was happy in her time here. They also helped me understand the system and ensure we knew what was happening. The only thing, the afternoon music in the lounge, wartime tunes, Mum is rock and roll and folk so it didn't interest her at all.

After a 4-week stay in hospital following a fall at home, my wife was transferred here where she was well looked after by the kind and caring staff who attended to her every need. Although bedridden, she had her own room with en-suite facilities. Unfortunately, she passed away in the middle of the night on 9th December 2023 and the care home staff made all the necessary arrangements. This is an excellent care home and is well recommended for the caring staff and all facilities.

We were very hesitant about Mum becoming a resident here (like everyone I am sure).

She took a while to settle in but, after a while, she settled, and is happy and cheerful. She broke her hip and was in hospital for about a week, but Park View have been marvellous with her.

The care home is always happy to accommodate any requests. During Covid they were exceptional in the care of the residents, they had a no visitor policy even before lockdown, which I believe saved lives. A party was held for the queen's jubilee and it was lovely, the staff worked hard to make it a success.

This is such a lovely home and Mum is very well cared for. Couldn't wish for a better place or her. All the staff are so caring and friendly and try their very best to entertain the residents. They put on a jubilee party on Thursday and it was brilliant. Mum has dementia so to see her singing and smiling was quite emotional. What a great queen for the day! Well done to you all.
