Staff are great, Sweet Honey and Empress ming especially :-) All very friendly and helpful, Mum is popular hence smiley faces when in her room. Easy to get to, always a space to park and a free COT if you want one.

When my Dad arrived at the care home in the evening, he was left on a bed with an un-inflated air mattress. When my Dad's partner visited after lunch the next day, he was still on the same mattress. He spent almost 24 hours without the air mattress. It was only when his partner insisted that action was taken to resolve this that anything was done. The air mattress machine was found to be faulty and had to be changed.

My Dad only had a few teeth and some swallowing difficulties. He was not offered a soft diet. He was not offered encouragement with managing his oral care. At one visit, his water beaker was within his reach, but his water jug was not, apparently because it may be spilt. The buzzer was not always responded to. He was not encouraged to mobilize or sit in his chair, resulting in further muscle atrophy. He was only reviewed by a paramedic when he had been in the home for 2 weeks, after his partner reported concerns about his swallowing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We were deeply concerned to read about your experiences regarding the above, uninflated mattress, swallowing difficulties, the buzzer was not always responded, not encouraged to mobilise or sit in his chair and only seen by the paramedic in the...

Visited my partner for Valentine's Day, had a lovely meal with a bottle of fizz, staff couldn't have done more to make it a lovely experience. Always very helpful and friendly. My partner is certainly well looked after. Thank you.

My father spent 4 weeks here and was admitted to the hospital as a direct result of the total negligence in the care he received. He was left alone in his room for the majority of the day (even to eat his meals). There was no social interaction. Meals often lacked nutritional value or variety. For example a meat pie with mashed potatoes, chips and roast potatoes - no vegetables (I’m serious). Deserts high in sugar. I spoke to the chef (who was outside smoking) and he couldn’t care less and blamed it on what he has been given to cook.
My father has now moved to a different care home in Winchester and is 100% happier and well cared for.

If you are considering a care home for your loved one then I explore you not to choose Westholme in Winchester.

My husband needed recuperation after a hospital operation for a broken hip, and had a small sore on his back. When he left, he was to be hospitalised for a large infected bed sore and a CT scan showed that he also had a broken back.

Overall Experience
When mum came to Westholme (Peacock) we had just been told that mum would never walk again as you could imagine this was very hard to accept, mum was very down and just wanted to come home and I feared how mum would cope with being at Westholme as she has problems communicating due to the brain damage from the stroke. Right from the moment we arrived at Peacock I couldn't believe the kindness and friendliness of the staff, they were just lovely with mum it put my mind at ease as I was finding it hard to leave her. Mum settled very well and was happy which made life a lot easier for all the family. The Occupational Therapists on Peacock were amazing with mum she really responded to them and they where so patient and caring, their hard work really paid off when against all the odds mum walked using a gutter frame, when they rang and told me I just cried I never thought this was possible after all mum had been through. I will never be able to thank you enough for all your hard work, you have an amazing team on Peacock, I would like to thank the lovely nurses and all the care team, you all run a great unit and I hope you continue to help people like my mum

Thank you..
