Staff always welcoming and caring to residents. Food at meal times a good standard. No odour smells when entering the building. Overall very happy with my mother in law's care.

My husband has advanced dementia and as his only carer, I needed a break. I knew, from previous visits, my husband would be well cared for. All staff are a credit to your company. I wouldn't hesitate to let my husband return if necessary.

Mum stayed at Brookvale for 2 weeks whilst I had an operation.
Great organisation with initial visit to assess mum right from beginning to end.
Staff extremely friendly and home was clean, lovely atmosphere and Mum felt happy to stay from the get-go.
Mum enjoyed loads of fab activities from decorating
pancakes to having her nails done and local children coming in to visit.
The food was great and Mum had no complaints.
Mum came home with all her belongings and even wants me to take her back to get her nails done!
I felt confident that Mum was looked after with care and kindness.
I would definitely let Mum stay again and she has also stated she would be more than happy to stay again.

Had to come in late notice and we have found everything very nice and welcoming. She has partaken in many activities which she wouldn't at home, which is amazing. Also found everything very clean.

I feel compelled to leave this review after my father resided at Brookvale from June 23 - November. My father went from a jolly healthy happy person to a frail gentleman that I strived to move as quickly as I could. My father's care was terrible. I complained of poor hygiene, and lack of personal care.
The
day I transferred my Father to a new care home I arrived to find my father sat amongst bin bags and boxes with his belongings and clothes crammed in, his bedding stripped and bagged. I was heartbroken to find this a total lack of care and compassion. The manager who I quote said ‘We have procedures to adhere to‘ well shame on you Brookvale. This left my Father and myself traumatised.
On arrival at the new care home on unpacking his belongings they had bagged up soiled bed sheets (disgusting). I will never be able to get this awful day out of my mind and my poor Father being treated in such a disgusting way. So do I recommend this home Definitely not, shame on them.

Our manager has confirmed that they had several meetings with you to address the complaints and concerns that you have raised. Our robust complaints procedure would have allowed you to escalate your concerns to the Directors if you continued to be dissatisfied with the responses you received at the Home. The Directors would have been more than happy to assist you and address and resolve your concerns.
The quote you have detailed above regarding our manager may have taken out of context, as I have confirmation that this has not been said.
We are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations.

I would like to post this review to warn people about this terrible place. My Dad was a resident here for a period of 5 months during which time he declined significantly. The lack of care by staff that were totally lacking compassion and skill to care for the elderly. My Dad lost so much weight because
of a lack of nourishment due to the fact he was offered such a poor variety of diet. He had a fall, which was not recorded on his notes. They did call and tell us, and assured us that he was fine. When my sister arrived later that day and asked if they had checked him over from head to toe and was assured that this had been done. She then asked if they would check again, which they did and reassured her that he was fine. Later that afternoon my Dad was having a rest on the bed and got quite hot. My sister removed his cardigan to reveal that he had an open wound which was too obvious to miss. This is just one occasion there were too many more to mention. Other residents walk around aimlessly!

Mum was only at Brookvale for a short while, but the care she was given was excellent.
All the staff were caring, and nothing was too much trouble.
My sister and I were made so welcome when we visited daily.
It felt like you were going into a family home rather than a care home, which was one
of the reasons why we had no doubt about Mum staying there.

After making the sad decision to move Mum into care, we couldn’t be more happy with Brookvale House. Mum is a wanderer and likes to constantly pack her things to go “home” however the staff are very in tune with this and help her realise she is now home.
The lovely carers are so kind and considerate
and keep us informed of everything that happens.
Pansy, with her bubbly enthusiasm, arranges lots of activities and we get monthly emails of all that is happening.
Mum seems content and settled now and we know it is the right place for her.
Overall it’s a relief for us that Mum is so well cared for and we can enjoy visiting, knowing she is calmer and safe

The care for my dad is good. I think it has taken all of us to settle him being in care. He seems happy. The staff are very hard-working and do anything to assist. I am still worried about Dad's weight and the fact that he has lost quite a lot of weight. I think sometimes he leaves his food because
it becomes cold so he won't eat it His other care is good. Overall experience rate satisfactory.
