Mum is 82 and has dementia, and became a resident of Mountbatten Lodge in October 2022 after sadly having to leave her home of over 50 years. Right from the start, it was clear that the Lodge was absolutely the best new home that she could have. Beth and the whole team provide an excellent and attentive standard of care, being at all times sensitive to Mum's needs and dealing with any problems thoughtfully and compassionately. There are an excellent number of activities taking place, including many where relatives can join in. The standard of food is very good, and the home is orderly and clean at all times. The family are also kept immediately up to date if Mum has any health problems. It makes such a difference to the family to know that Mum is being well looked after and is happy; the genuine compassion and care of all at the Lodge shine through in everything they do. I cannot praise the Mountbatten team too highly or thank them enough.

My Dad came in for respite care 3 weeks ago. Thanks to the amazing care of all on his wing he has settled in very well. We have had an excellent experience of Mountbatten Lodge , as my mother-in-law has been here for just over three years, based on care she receives from Beth and the team we were very happy that Dad was able to come in for respite care. Beth and all the team are amazing with their care, attentiveness and patience shown to our family and all the other clients that they look after. Thank you all so much for looking after Dad and Mum-in-Law in such a lovely way.

Father seems quite content where he is. He never wants to participate in the activities. I feel they have a lot going on for the residents. He enjoys his meals. Welcoming staff when I visit. They make a fuss on birthdays, Christmas etc.

Both of my grandparents live at Mount Batten Lodge, and I can honestly say the care they receive is exceptional. The staff are person-centred in every sense they support not only the residents but also family members, making us feel included and reassured.
Whenever there are changes in health or condition, risk assessments are put in place quickly and action is taken without delay. This responsiveness gives us real peace of mind. What shines through most is the compassion: the team genuinely care for residents, understand their individual needs, and treat them with dignity and respect.
As a family, we feel fortunate to have our loved ones in a place where professionalism and kindness go hand in hand.

Thank you!

My mum Christine has received brilliant help, as she was very depressed and overwhelmed by grief. Mum was doing well; however, on 4th January 2026, mum broke her hip. Since coming home from the hospital, mum has had a memory problem and is scared. However, the staff are taking control at home. Thanks to Beth and the Team.

So I am actually the great-granddaughter-in-law of two residents in your care home and we come to visit as often as we can. Since our great-grandad has been moved here, he has flourished and come alive! Whenever we visit, the care home is clean, the staff are always smiles and really polite and friendly and I love that our great-grandad is safe and well looked after. Like I said, he is full of life and humour. My great-grandmother-in-law is in a different part of the care home due to having different needs from grandad. Even as challenging as nanny has been, the staff have still been smiles and supportive and given advice and their input to what needs nanny may have. The manager of Mountbatten is a wonderful woman who answers any query we may have, quickly and professionally but also making it feel like we're one big family just talking to friends or family. It's a wonderful place and I would highly recommend this place to any loved one who may need it.

My dad moved into Mountbatten Lodge 10 mths before we sadly lost him in march. We as a family cudnt have asked for a better home and staff to trust with our dad. Some of the staff we became so close with which helped us a great deal some days..we will always be grateful for their amazing staff and care they gave to him. You wouldn't want your loved one in a better home than this. They are treated with such love and dignity and visitors are too. Everything they do is with a smile on their face..the residents are so happy here and my wonderful dad was too

Mum didn't want to go into a care home; however, from the first phone call of enquiring to visiting for a look around, I was put at ease, treated with respect, concerns listened to, and reassured. All members of the staff greet you with a smile and make residents feel welcome. Likes/dislikes, home comforts encouraged. Family members never made to feel a nuisance, always have time to listen. Rooms are always clean, as are all general areas, maintenance staff, and housekeeping, like new friends. Pleasantly surprised by how many events are available, and the staff are so enthusiastic. Excellent. Would definitely recommend. Well done to high-quality staff, approachable managers balance so right. Long may this last!

Mountbatten Lodge is an outstanding care home. My mother has been a resident there for over 18 months. It's well run with staff who really care. They see understand residents are doing and make sure everything possible is being done to make them as healthy and happy as possible. There are regular activities and events meaning we regularly see photographs of my mum looking happy as she gets involved with activities organised by the staff and sometimes taken to activities off site including a visit to the seaside. The manager recently went on maternity leave but that didn't affect the levels of care being provided - testament to the strong caring culture she has created. Prior to choosing Mountbatten Lodge we visited 6 care homes in the area - Mountbatten Lodge stood head and shoulders above the rest.
