My nan has been here at Ivy Banks for a week at respite. I have been really pleased with how friendly and welcoming the staff have been with her and she tells me every visit that everyone is really nice. The home looks and smells clean, their meals look really nice, we visited when there was a roast
and it looked lovely.
My nan was anxious and missing home but I talked to staff who reassured me it was shortlived and settled well. I would recommend them and thank the staff for their care.

Thank you vey much for your kind words. Your nan is an absolute delight and we were very lucky to be able to care for her, albeit for a short time. We look forward to welcoming her back if we are needed.

Since my mum arrived at Ivy Bank we as a family are very pleased with the care our mum receives. The friendliness of the staff and management. If we have any worries or concerns, once raising them, they are dealt with promptly. Also, the introduction of social media has allowed mum's family who can't
visit to see how well she enjoys her life at Ivy Bank. Thank you one and all at Ivy Bank you are all great.

I am pleased to have chosen Ivybank for mum. The staff are so kind, caring and fun. There are always lots of activities going on and nothing is too much trouble, It means a lot to know mum is safe and cared for. I visit 3 - 4 times a week and I am always made to feel welcome and offered refreshments.

My wife has been in Ivy Bank for five years now. The home is an excellent place for my wife, who has vascular dementia. The staff are very caring and treat my wife with patience and dignity, she can be very demanding. The home is very clean and tidy and the food is excellent. The home is managed well
and I have no issues in how it is run.

My grandad has been treated with care and patience during his four weeks respite. Staff are kind and have looked after him well. Communication is good, and nothing seems too much bother for them; they are happy to take calls and for us to check in with them regularly. Rooms are nice and clean, and security
seems good. Some residents with accessibility issues may struggle, so would be worth checking with providers before their stay.

I am so comforted by the fact that I know Mum is being well cared for. As I dont live in the UK, I can't visit and be involved as much as I would like. On my last visit, the staff were so welcoming and supportive, and their warmth and care for my mum really shone through. It is very clear that the home
is well-run, and the staff care for the residents. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I found from the very first time I brought my husband to Ivy Bank that the staff were very caring. Two of them met us first as we parked the car and helped us inside. Since he has been here, they are always considering his welfare, not only his but my welfare also. They are all very kind and caring.
Thank you.

I needed to place Mum into respite for 4 weeks as I was away on holiday. Mum has 3 forms of dementia and was scared about going into any home as she was hurt badly in the last rest home ..the home and person have been dealt with severely.
We were warmly met by a lovely lady, who explained how things
worked and what activities were available.
When I was away I made the decision to ask if Mum could stay permanently as I wanted to be her daughter again and not her carer. At home she wasn’t taking medication, eating properly even though I was cooking fresh for her.
She had horrific hallucinations which I was beginning to struggle to comfort her. Circumstances beyond my control I couldn’t keep Mum safe anymore. Ivybank has literally given me my life back and allowed me to be Mums Daughter again. She’s safe, clean, well-fed and treated with dignity. A detailed diary is kept on all residents. Food smells absolutely delicious. The home smells homely, not stale like some other rest homes.

Since coming into Ivy Bank a year ago, Mum has seemed happy, and the outburst she was previously having, have lessened (she has Alzheimer's quite advanced). Due to Covid, we have not been able to view the home fully or see Mums room, but when we have visited, Mum is always clean and tidy, and all staff
we came into contact with have been brilliant with her. She is treated with respect and dignity, and we feel Mum is in safe hands.

Very impressed with the improvement in activities. The staff are always ready to listen to any concerns that we have and act accordingly. The fact that there has been no COVID-19 in the home is a huge plus and peace of mind to family and friend of the residents.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.550)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.550) out of 10 for Ivybank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Ivybank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ivybank Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
