Overall Experience

My 94-year-old mother had to isolate for 2 weeks when she arrived at the home in April. It has taken a while for her to settle, but I have always felt that she is being well cared for. I have found all the staff from managers and office staff to carers to be extremely friendly and helpful. On a few occasions I have had concerns about Mum's health and my worries were listened to and dealt with as soon as possible and in a very caring manner. I do feel that the staff care about the residents and want the best for them.

I have always found the staff to be friendly and caring. I haven't been in the care home when there have been any activities or at mealtimes and haven't been to my friend's room so I can't comment on that. As I don't pay for her care I don't know about value for money but I will say my friend is always happy, definitely well-fed and generally content. She has also stayed safe during the pandemic so this home is doing something right.

I cannot praise the manager enough. She is so loving, caring and empathetic and went out of her way to help move my mum from Hampshire to this absolutely fabulous care home. Since my mum has arrived she has flourished even though she does not want to be in this kind of situation. Her health has improved remarkably. The carers are all so kind, helpful and caring. The menus for the residents are second to none and all of this is made possible by their excellent manager. I cannot praise them enough.

Greeted with a smile on each visit, consistent in approach. The staff tend to be the same and so familiar with my mother and her needs. Also indicated staff must be content. Price-wise quite favourable compared with other homes.

On boxing day, my mum had a fall, hit her head and broke her wrist. The staff called an ambulance and made sure someone was with her until an ambulance arrived 4 hours later. They kept her calm and reassured her while she waited. The manager has arranged for me to have a covid test so that I can visit her and reassure her as she recovers. I can't fault their care for her and I'm grateful for the professionalism of the manager and all of the staff.

After visiting the care home for a period of time throughout January, I would have to say that the staff, facilities, food and Manager of the home are all great and understanding. before we visited I always was a bit concerned about care homes, but after being here my opinion has changed. Thank you.

Mum has settled in so well here and she smiles a lot and has made friends. The home is clean and she is well kept and always looks nice. Staff are approachable and really good with the more difficult ones. Staff always have a smile on their faces. Mum now joins in activities including gentle exercises, she said she is happy what more can I say but thank you to all at this home.

Extremely polite and friendly staff. The home is really clean and fresh smelling. The furnishings are attractive and the garden well-tended. Observed a rather demanding resident being dealt with in a kind and respectful way. Generally very impressed.

Review from Lorraine J (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 December 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Our overall impression of this care home is excellent. Where I have rated good in the options is because I feel there is very minor room for improvement.
Care and Support - All the staff without exception are kind, caring, patient, considerate and professional. The reason for the Good rating is because I feel ideally there should be more staff to deal with the complex needs of residents. I appreciate this is a funding issue. A big thank you to all.
Facilities and Activities, Alos a quite family room for special occasions - Again funding issue, maybe some very simple exercise equipment, Breathing pets, visits from school children@

Overall I believe the food to be nutritious and I get the impression there could be more variety.

Overall very good. I do think more could be done to encourage physical exercise, (and I do know that is very difficult, esp, with some of the more vulnerable or weaker residents) such as small pieces of gym kit e.g. Small cycle pedals that residents could use while sitting etc.

I think the overall care is very good. My mum has settled in very well and it's comforting to know she is getting well looked after. I think staffing levels could be better at the weekend as the staff look to be stretched. I would like to see the reception manned at all times. I visited at the weekend to find my mum sitting on her commode. I would prefer and I'm sure she would as well that visitors are made aware of her circumstances so we don't just walk in on her.
