Anchor’s Bethune Court in St. Leonards-on-Sea enjoys a location close to the seafront and is within a short distance of the attractions offered by the seaside town.

The home supports older people to live a comfortable lifestyle in single en-suite rooms and continues to welcome new residents.

The home strives to deliver a range of residential care services, including convalescence care, respite care, trial stays and long term care for those who can no longer look after themselves.

The care provided by the staff at Bethune Court is excellent. I cannot fault the kindness and patience that they show to my mum and all of the residents. The home is clean, safe and secure. There is very much a can-do attitude and every attempt is made to keep all residents engaged regardless of their
level of need. I would not hesitate to recommend the home and in fact, I have done so.

Mum has been at Bethune for over 18 months now and we have been delighted with the care she has received. The staff are wonderful, kind, caring, professional, patient and very respectful of Mum's wishes and needs.
There are many activities Mum can join in with if she wishes and we have been able to
put items of Mum's own furniture, ornaments and pictures into her room so that it feels familiar and like home to her. Bethune has a happy, family atmosphere and we are so pleased that Mum is being so well looked after.

I am so grateful to have been able to find such a lovely care home for my father. The members of staff are genuinely happy, welcoming and friendly. They are exceptionally caring and act on any requests or queries posed to them. The premises, both externally and internally, are clean, bright and cheerful.
The building is kept at a comfortable temperature.
My father has picked up physically, mentally and emotionally since becoming a resident. He is well cared for – daily washes and shaves, regular enjoyable meals, frequent cups of tea with biscuits and a full laundry service, including regular changes of bedding. There is a comprehensive timetable of suitable activities for residents to take part in.
It appears to be not just a lovely place for the residents but also a lovely place to work.

The care for my aunt has been excellent throughout the time she has been in the home. Staff are caring and thoughtful and my aunt's needs are always uppermost in attention.

It is always a pleasure to visit Bethune Court, and despite one disappointment and one major inadequacy, everything else is excellent. Bethune Court is bright, clean and very welcoming. The staff are extremely friendly, they provide excellent care, and they go the extra mile to support the needs of
the residents. However, a large unexplained increase in fees has been disappointing. The one major failing is that the food is very poor in both the quality and the quantity offered to the residents. Nevertheless, I very much agree with one resident who commented that residents can be themselves there and enjoy the company of fellow residents, and this together with the excellent care provided makes Bethune Court highly recommendable.

Our residents are encouraged to provide feedback on our menus and all our food is freshly prepared, to suit individual dietary requirements and preferences, with second helpings being offered to all residents. I regularly sit with residents at mealtimes to ensure that they are happy with their meals. Our fee increase reflects higher costs, such as energy and other essentials. This also supports payment of the real Living Wage to our care colleagues, to ensure we can continue to provide high quality care. I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mum has received since she entered Bethune Court two years ago. The kindness and respect shown to all residents are wonderful and our whole family is enormously grateful for the gentle and positive care mum has received. The staff are switched on, engaged
and obviously proud of the high professional standards and ethos they have created. I would recommend the home to anyone looking for a safe place for their loved ones.

I love my room, it is very comfortable with a nice view.
I enjoy the activities especially when we all sit and chat. I love playing scrabble.
My family can come anytime.
If I was at home, I couldn’t manage. The food is so good I have tea and biscuits and I have put on weight!

Some members of staff need to be trained in considering different relationships between relatives and residents and not make judgements as they do not know the full circumstances of the families.
The home itself is clean and bright and welcoming and nicely laid out.

My Aunt became a resident on a respite care basis in October 2021. She was made to feel very welcome and comfortable at Bethune Court and over Christmas requested that she continued to live there on a permanent basis.
The room is lovely with a sea view which mirrors the view from my Aunt's flat.
The home has allowed her to bring her own furniture, pictures and photos into the room so the result is it feels like home for her. She praises the staff's care and the quality of the meals. She has had a fall but staff are on hand quickly and call paramedics to check everything is OK. The care plans are available to view on request.
For me, as her niece, the helpfulness and kindness of the staff have been a major benefit. They always have time to talk whether it is to me when I telephone or when visiting my Aunt in her room. The home is professionally run. Their policy for Covid-19 security is good.

The care of my wife is excellent with only minor glitches, one of the carers treated my wife roughly when dressing her (believed to be agency). All the staff are caring and attentive to my wife's needs as her Alzheimer's progresses eg moving her to a separate dining room because she was unhappy with
the noise in the main dining room and embarrassed at her inability to feed herself. Provision of dedicated help at mealtimes also chowed carers were observant and responsive to residents needs. All the staff/carers are friendly and approachable and act promptly on requests my family and I make. Responsive to Covid-19 has been very good and clearly designed to safeguard residents.

Approachable, friendly staff.

I have nothing but praise for Bethune Court. They have looked after my parents, both of whom have/had complex healthcare needs, since April 2019. My father died earlier this year at a time when the staff were stretched almost to their limits with the physical and emotional challenges of caring for frail
elderly people during the height of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the kindness they showed to all my family was a huge comfort to us all. My mother continues to benefit from the staff's gentleness and compassion and from the efficient and professional management of the home. As a family, we simply don't know what we'd do without Bethune Court.

My dad has been in Bethune Court for two years. He has a lovely room looking over the sea and he loves the garden when the weather is warm. The staff are fantastic, really friendly and caring and extremely competent (there is a very low rate of staff turnover so they know the residents and genuinely
care about them) it's a modern building, nice and light and airy. Food is good (especially the home-made cakes) and there is a full programme of activities for the who want them. I can't recommend it too highly.
