Some members of staff need to be trained in considering different relationships between relatives and residents and not make judgements as they do not know the full circumstances of the families.

The home itself is clean and bright and welcoming and nicely laid out.

My Aunt became a resident on a respite care basis in October 2021. She was made to feel very welcome and comfortable at Bethune Court and over Christmas requested that she continued to live there on a permanent basis.
The room is lovely with a sea view which mirrors the view from my Aunt's flat. The home has allowed her to bring her own furniture, pictures and photos into the room so the result is it feels like home for her. She praises the staff's care and the quality of the meals. She has had a fall but staff are on hand quickly and call paramedics to check everything is OK. The care plans are available to view on request.

For me, as her niece, the helpfulness and kindness of the staff have been a major benefit. They always have time to talk whether it is to me when I telephone or when visiting my Aunt in her room. The home is professionally run. Their policy for Covid-19 security is good.

The care of my wife is excellent with only minor glitches, one of the carers treated my wife roughly when dressing her (believed to be agency). All the staff are caring and attentive to my wife's needs as her Alzheimer's progresses eg moving her to a separate dining room because she was unhappy with the noise in the main dining room and embarrassed at her inability to feed herself. Provision of dedicated help at mealtimes also chowed carers were observant and responsive to residents needs. All the staff/carers are friendly and approachable and act promptly on requests my family and I make. Responsive to Covid-19 has been very good and clearly designed to safeguard residents.

Approachable, friendly staff.

Mum seems well cared for and I know she is safe. It's difficult to assess all areas as due to covid, I've not been in the home apart from the visiting room.

I have nothing but praise for Bethune Court. They have looked after my parents, both of whom have/had complex healthcare needs, since April 2019. My father died earlier this year at a time when the staff were stretched almost to their limits with the physical and emotional challenges of caring for frail elderly people during the height of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the kindness they showed to all my family was a huge comfort to us all. My mother continues to benefit from the staff's gentleness and compassion and from the efficient and professional management of the home. As a family, we simply don't know what we'd do without Bethune Court.

My dad has been in Bethune Court for two years. He has a lovely room looking over the sea and he loves the garden when the weather is warm. The staff are fantastic, really friendly and caring and extremely competent (there is a very low rate of staff turnover so they know the residents and genuinely care about them) it's a modern building, nice and light and airy. Food is good (especially the home-made cakes) and there is a full programme of activities for the who want them. I can't recommend it too highly.

My mother moved here in May and although she struggles being away from home she has settled well. The staff have a big part to play in this as they are extremely friendly, helpful and kind. There are plenty of activities for her to get involved in, a varied menu with good quality food and her flat has a view of the sea. I am very happy with the choice of residential care for my mother.

I think Bethune Court is the best I have ever seen. I was a nurse and I have worked in loads of nursing homes and I would say this is the best by far. I hope if I have to go into a home I hope it is this one or one which is the same. I would tell anyone to go to this home if needed. A1 Gold Star.

My mother accompanied by my father, went to Bethune Court for two weeks respite care after a traumatic stay in hospital. The excellent care she received whilst there made a considerable improvement to her mental and physical appearance within only a week. In fact both my parents looked better than they have done for many months when they left to go home. As a family, we are very grateful to all the wonderful people who work there.

My Overall opinion of Bethune Court is very positive. The staff, both in the office and on the caring side are always friendly and supportive. Dads care, as far as I know, has been good and he very much enjoys the food. On the negative side, he has lost many of his own clothes and quite often is dressed in clothes we have never seen before, but I gather this is a common problem in Care Homes. The manager has a hands-on approach and has always been very responsive to any concerns we have had. I have had the experience of other Care Homes and Bethune Court is definitely up there.

Due to the Pandemic, I have not been able to visit my mother during the past year as I do not live in England.
I have always been informed about her falls by phone and other information has come regularly by email.
Monitors have been installed in her room so they can react quickly.
I have found all the staff friendly helpful and caring when I have spoken to them.
A member of staff has taken her to recent medical appointments for me and my mother has remarked how kind and patient they are.

The standards of hygiene must still be high and the safety of the residents seems to be a priority through this pandemic.

I recommend Bethune Court it's a high standard.
The staff are very accommodating to my mother-in-law. The care is outstanding. The communication to us (the family) is second to none.
We know everything that is going on in these difficult times.
We know how much our mother is cared for, we have been allowed to use technology to see and speak with our Mother.
She seems to be thriving without our visits due to the care and support from all their staff at Bethune court.
When we were allowed to visit. Bethune Court is exceptionally a clean environment. The aromas of good food being cooked as you walk in the door.
Also, the weekly themes are amazing.
Daily activities on offer too.
As a family, we could walk away with a free conscious knowing our Mother is supported and cared for in a clean and happy environment.
A great relationship with our Mother, Bethune court has been her family in these uncertain times.

We cannot thank Bethune enough for their hard work and support in this pandemic.
