Elmcroft Care Home is a 60-bedroom facility that was opened in 2008 in order to specialise in a wide range of care needs, including for people with long and short-term care needs, and people with dementia or physical disabilities.

The aim of a highly-trained team of staff is to maintain a homely and hygienic environment, that residents can enjoy a varied day-to-day lifestyle in, while adhering to the highest standards of modern care regulations.

Personal freedoms are encouraged within the service and Elmcroft is located close to both Brighton and Worthing, which allows for many popular outings throughout the year.

My mother is a long-term resident at New Elmcroft Care Home. She has always been well cared for and very much loved by the team of carers. During the Covid-19 epidemic, they have been extremely conscientious in keeping the home clean, safe and arranging contact via Skype. The staff are always very welcoming.

My aunt was a resident; on the 10th February she celebrated her 100th birthday in the home, the home was so welcoming, staff went above and beyond to make her day special; sadly she has since passed away but the memory of day was made so very special for all who attended.

I visited my friend recently and I had a nice welcome from all staff very impressed with the place. The manager spent time to take me around. My friend mentioned how he is engaged in activities, socialising with other residents and outings. My very good friend said he is well looked after and enjoys
the varieties of meals. I highly recommend the home to anybody wishing a safe place to be looked after.

Best care home in town, I visited my friend who now lives permanently in New Elmcroft care home. I was so happy for him and felt so overwhelmed seeing him well looked after by professional carers and the Manager is so lovely and caring, she is even a chef on weekends, hats off to the team at New Elmcroft.
I highly recommend this home for respite or for a long stay, you will never be disappointed, the environment and staff are so welcoming. Thank you so much for all your help to the community.

The home seems to keep the usual excellent record. We do stay a long time when we visit and can see how it is run efficiently with no rushing and the staff always give a lovely welcome and always say hello. I have no worries about my husband being in New Elmcroft. As I always say, it comes from the
manager and the staff who need a huge appraisal for all their hard work.

I was very impressed with the care and diligence given to my mother-in-law. I felt she was looked after and was allowed her dignity. I also felt many attempts (some successful) were made to involve and engage her. The atmosphere in the home was always upbeat and positive and matters were dealt with

My sister has been at here at Elmcroft since the end of October 2018, and so far I'm very pleased how she is treated, she is happy there and enjoys the daily crafts and afternoon entertainment. I try to spend time in the day area with the others so I can meet her new friends. The food what I've seen
has looked lovely. The place is clean and bright.

Hello! My name is Tiny. I joined Shaw healthcare in March 2021. I have enjoyed sharing both happy and sad moments with our service users, their families and my colleagues. I have been privileged to be part of the Shaw Family as we strive to ensure all our service users lead a meaningful and fulfilled life right up to the end. I enjoy the challenges associated with being part of such a large, lovely diverse family. I am constantly learning and being challenged to be the best that I can be.

Hello and welcome to Elmcroft! My name is Estelle and I am the deputy manager here. I started working in healthcare whilst completing my Psychology master’s degree at Sussex University back in 1995. At that time I was a support worker in a residential dementia unit. My passion for assisting people living with dementia grew from there. Over time I progressed to team Leader, and then resource manager within Brighton and Hove Council. In 2008, before Elmcroft was even opened, I successfully interviewed for a team leader role. I was one of the very first recruits and I have worked in Elmcroft since day one and what a brilliant journey it has been! I worked as a team leader until 2015 when I became the deputy manager.


I derive such joy from making each day special for the people under my care. I love that each day is different and brings new exciting opportunities. The prospect of meeting new people, and getting to know them makes every day special. I have enjoyed supporting staff growth and development. I am passionate about training and feel privileged as I am the named dementia trainer in Elmcroft. My background in psychology enables me to support families faced with the difficult decision of leaving their loved ones in a care home. It is also beneficial to staff in my capacity as a mental health first aider in Elmcroft.

Theresa Mcarthur

Job Title: Service Administrator Joined: 2002

I joined Elmcroft in 2002 as a support worker. I moved to New Elmcroft once the new build was completed, 16 years ago this year. In 2010 I became one of the service administrators.


My job is very varied dealing with many aspects regarding staff, residents and relatives as well as outside professionals.


I am always happy to help with anything that I can, taking part in many events over the years, all hopefully to help maintain a happy and healthy environment, especially for our residents.
