I was very impressed with the care and diligence given to my mother-in-law. I felt she was looked after and was allowed her dignity. I also felt many attempts (some successful) were made to involve and engage her. The atmosphere in the home was always upbeat and positive and matters were dealt with promptly and discreetly. Thank you.

When I came here I was frightened. But now I am happy and contented and I don't like singers but everything else is lovely.

My sister has been at here at Elmcroft since the end of October 2018, and so far I'm very pleased how she is treated, she is happy there and enjoys the daily crafts and afternoon entertainment. I try to spend time in the day area with the others so I can meet her new friends. The food what I've seen has looked lovely. The place is clean and bright.

My dad is in New Elmcroft and it is the most wonderful home. My dad is happy, the staff are wonderful and they have a wonderful rapport with my dad.

I feel that they really know him well. The home is very clean and welcoming. It is bright and the atmosphere is so friendly. I cannot recommend New Elmcroft enough. I leave from every visit feeling relaxed, knowing he is in safe hands.

The standard of care in New Elmcroft is exemplary from the office staff to the management someone is always available to talk about concerns. It's so clean and the food is good. Overall it makes me so happy to have my husband in the care of such wonderful staff who genuinely care about their patient's health, welfare and happiness.

New Elmcroft continues to meet and exceed my expectations on almost every front, particularly the care and clinical/medical side. The centre is always spotlessly clean, the food is excellent and staff attentive.

If there was one thing I would wish for it would be that New Elmcroft had its own minibus so that short day or 1/2 day excursions could be more frequent.

I attended the residents Christmas party in December 2018. Wonderful food, very good party with live music. Staff dressed as Santa's helpers - a real effort was made by everybody to join in the festivities. Some residents were dancing and many joined in with the singing. All had good fun.

The staff at New Elmcroft really do go the extra mile, make the last years of these elderly folk as pleasant and homely as possible. I honestly think the residents have a better social life than me!

Overall Experience

On arriving at New Elmcroft for the first time, my partner was apprehensive, tearful but within a few hours, the nurses and carers had her feeling at home and over her 3 day stay, she settled in, made friends and enjoyed her stay. To Elmcroft staff, all are very professional and they are a credit to you. All are so kind and caring. You do not need 200 words, just one EXEMPLARY.

Good purpose-built residential home. Bright and cheerful staff. Good one to one attention between staff and residents and good activities. My mother spent a weeks respite stay which was an experience for her. She was I think the only resident who could move around on her own. Perhaps not the best place for observation. A lot of food thrown away. Suggest smaller portions for residents.

My friend was sent to New Elmcroft as respite care for one week. During that time I visited on 4 occasions and was impressed with the fabric and cleanliness of the facility but above all with the knowledge, skills and attitude of all grades of staff. He developed a VTI after admission and this was professionally dealt with promptly and the appropriate care given.

My profession for a few years was that of a registered nurse and laterally inspecting nursing homes in Scotland. I am impressed with the service you give.

Estelle Ramet
Estelle RametJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2008

Hello and welcome to Elmcroft! My name is Estelle and I am the deputy manager here. I started working in healthcare whilst completing my Psychology master’s degree at Sussex University back in 1995. At that time I was a support worker in a residential dementia unit. My passion for assisting people living with dementia grew from there. Over time I progressed to team Leader, and then resource manager within Brighton and Hove Council. In 2008, before Elmcroft was even opened, I successfully interviewed for a team leader role. I was one of the very first recruits and I have worked in Elmcroft since day one and what a brilliant journey it has been! I worked as a team leader until 2015 when I became the deputy manager.

I derive such joy from making each day special for the people under my care. I love that each day is different and brings new exciting opportunities. The prospect of meeting new people, and getting to know them makes every day special. I have enjoyed supporting staff growth and development. I am passionate about training and feel privileged as I am the named dementia trainer in Elmcroft. My background in psychology enables me to support families faced with the difficult decision of leaving their loved ones in a care home. It is also beneficial to staff in my capacity as a mental health first aider in Elmcroft.

Theresa McarthurJob Title:Service AdministratorJoined: 2002

I joined Elmcroft in 2002 as a support worker. I moved to New Elmcroft once the new build was completed, 16 years ago this year. In 2010 I became one of the service administrators.

My job is very varied dealing with many aspects regarding staff, residents and relatives as well as outside professionals.

I am always happy to help with anything that I can, taking part in many events over the years, all hopefully to help maintain a happy and healthy environment, especially for our residents.

Hi and welcome to New Elmcroft. My name is Katy and I am part of a two-person team in the Admin Office. Together we handle the day-to-day running of the office and offer a friendly greeting to anyone coming into the home.

The best part of my job is interacting with the home residents and their loved ones, making sure that I am available to help with anything needed and always with a big smile.
