Elmcroft Care Home is a 60-bedroom facility that was opened in 2008 in order to specialise in a wide range of care needs, including for people with long and short-term care needs, and people with dementia or physical disabilities.

The aim of a highly-trained team of staff is to maintain a homely and hygienic environment, that residents can enjoy a varied day-to-day lifestyle in, while adhering to the highest standards of modern care regulations.

Personal freedoms are encouraged within the service and Elmcroft is located close to both Brighton and Worthing, which allows for many popular outings throughout the year.

One of the main things we liked about Elmcroft when we looked around was the homely, caring feeling the home has.
This proved to be right - the staff at Elmcroft gave the best care to my dad whilst he was a resident.
They treated him with dignity and respect and really got to know him.
My dad loved
being at Elmcroft and the staff who looked after him.

I am very happy that my Dad is at Elmcroft.
He is very settled, happy and well looked after and the staff are caring, pleasant and attentive.
After caring for my Dad over the last few years myself, which became very difficult for him and for me, it was a hard decision to make for him to go into residential
care, but I couldn't be happier now and Elmcroft is the best place he could possibly be.

One year since mum moved into Elmcroft - (one year since my first review submitted, one month after she moved in) and I'm very pleased to say, there's no change from my first appraisal.
It's all very good - excellent, in fact.
Like any successful team, everyone works as they should from the team
on the front line through the chain of command to the management.
Dementia is not an easy condition deal with - let's face it, mums not easy to deal with but she's in no better care than with her carer's at Elmcroft.

My mother had been a resident for over 10 years.
Regarded Elmcroft as her home 99% of the time she was cared for with kindness and respect.
In her last few weeks, mum needed a lot more care the staff were wonderful.
I stayed for many nights and nothing was too much trouble for the staff they made
me feel welcome.
Mum had a very peaceful death. I cannot thank the staff enough.

My father was in Elmcroft for 22 months and died from Alzheimer's on 11th March 2017. My father's behaviour was extremely challenging but Elmcroft treated him with dignity and care. This home is suitable for as many reasons in that the rooms are spacious and the ensuite wetrooms as well. The home provides
plenty of room to walk around and the food is varied and plentiful guests/relatives are always welcome. The staff are varying and kind my dad was in good hands.

This home is a very good and well-run home. clean, quite and bright in fact I would even stay there myself when I get to that age, staff are well mannered and kind.
The only thing that is negative is I wish that we had more time to see mum before she passed away because I needed about half an hour
to get there 5 to 10 minutes was not enough time other than that a very good home.

On arrival I had a very warm welcome from the manager and staff. I was treated very well and had more than enough food to eat with two hot meals a day.
The staff were very helpful and the day and night nurses gave me my medication on time. The room was spacious and comfortable.
I was sorry to leave
but will be returning in August for ten days which I am looking forward to very much. Thank you.

From the beginning we have found the staff caring, helpful, cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. Mum settled very quickly and loves the company. She rarely spends much time in her room. Activities are many and varied and she likes to feel involved. Attention to detail by staff is excellent.

has her lipstick and perfume offered to her and likes choosing the days clothes. The food is excellent and mum has regained weight and generally looks more relaxed and happy. I am made to feel welcome whenever I visit. Well done to the manager and staff!

I have been privileged to be part of the Shaw Family as we strive to ensure all our service users lead a meaningful and fulfilled life right up to the end. I enjoy the challenges associated with being part of such a large, lovely diverse family. I am constantly learning and being challenged to be the best that I can be.

Hello and welcome to Elmcroft! My name is Estelle and I am the deputy manager here. I started working in healthcare whilst completing my Psychology master’s degree at Sussex University back in 1995. At that time I was a support worker in a residential dementia unit. My passion for assisting people living with dementia grew from there. Over time I progressed to team Leader, and then resource manager within Brighton and Hove Council. In 2008, before Elmcroft was even opened, I successfully interviewed for a team leader role. I was one of the very first recruits and I have worked in Elmcroft since day one and what a brilliant journey it has been! I worked as a team leader until 2015 when I became the deputy manager.


I derive such joy from making each day special for the people under my care. I love that each day is different and brings new exciting opportunities. The prospect of meeting new people, and getting to know them makes every day special. I have enjoyed supporting staff growth and development. I am passionate about training and feel privileged as I am the named dementia trainer in Elmcroft. My background in psychology enables me to support families faced with the difficult decision of leaving their loved ones in a care home. It is also beneficial to staff in my capacity as a mental health first aider in Elmcroft.

I joined Elmcroft in 2002 as a support worker. I moved to New Elmcroft once the new build was completed, 16 years ago this year. In 2010 I became one of the service administrators.


My job is very varied dealing with many aspects regarding staff, residents and relatives as well as outside professionals.


I am always happy to help with anything that I can, taking part in many events over the years, all hopefully to help maintain a happy and healthy environment, especially for our residents.
