My husband has been here for respite for three weeks this year (3 times). He has always been relaxed about coming back and when I have spoken to him on the phone he is always calm. I cannot speak highly enough about the standard of care he always receives and the rooms (private and public) are clean and well maintained. The staff are helpful and ready to go that extra mile. An excellent care home.

The staff were friendly and attentive at all times. They really made an effort to help me through my respite stay. The quality and presentation of meals could be improved. Desserts were good but the main courses were very ordinary. To all the staff who looked after me, please extend a great big "thank you".

This has been my first stay in a care home and I have found the time and experience above and beyond any preconceived any expectations I may have had.

All the staff were very courteous, friendly and always willing to go "the extra mile" to fulfil any requests or needs.

My partner has been in Elmcroft for almost 3 months. The decision was made as I could no longer provide the care he needed. From day 1 I have found Elmcroft to be very welcoming. The food is brilliant and my partner is very happy.

My mother has been in Elmcroft for respite and assessment by social services. We were both very happy with all aspects of the home and care provided. She was sorry to leave today when she moved to her new permanent home.

My mum spent 2 and half years at Elmcroft and loved every minute of it. She was very ill with Huntington’s Disease and had 2 different types of cancer, however, my mum still classed herself as lucky because the staff looked after her so well.
She was always looked after in a very dignified manner.
As a family member, it was such a relief to know that mum was looked after so well and when I left after visiting mum, I knew she was in such safe hands.

I would highly recommend New Elmcroft to anyone.

With no previous experience of a care home, I am very pleased that my husband is a resident at present in New Elmcroft. All the staff are extremely helpful and very caring of my husband and always friendly and cheerful, this helps us so much. We have been on an outing, where we were well looked after and really enjoyed, it was like a tonic for us both.

Dad thrived at New Elmcroft during his week's respite care. He was engaged, through activities and staff, stimulated and cared for. He ate so well, he put on half a stone, a minor miracle. The staff were not only kind to him but to us, his family, who were upset at him having respite but now we are firmly of the opinion we would not want him to be anywhere else for respite or full-time care. Thank you so much.

My husband and I came down to visit our brother-in-law.

We had difficulty finding the nursing home but on arrival, were met by the manager who made us so very welcome and made us tea and biscuits. All the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere of the home with country western music playing was so "homely". We took my sister to see her husband (she is in another care home) and the staff gave us a quiet room to be together. Thank you for a very enjoyable visit.

My father-in-law has the privilege of a very short 10-day stay at Elmcroft Shoreham before he sadly passed away. The family have nothing but praise for the staff/manager who showed us and my father-in-law the utmost care, compassion, respect and dignity at the end of his life. Thank you.

Estelle Ramet
Estelle RametJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2008

Hello and welcome to Elmcroft! My name is Estelle and I am the deputy manager here. I started working in healthcare whilst completing my Psychology master’s degree at Sussex University back in 1995. At that time I was a support worker in a residential dementia unit. My passion for assisting people living with dementia grew from there. Over time I progressed to team Leader, and then resource manager within Brighton and Hove Council. In 2008, before Elmcroft was even opened, I successfully interviewed for a team leader role. I was one of the very first recruits and I have worked in Elmcroft since day one and what a brilliant journey it has been! I worked as a team leader until 2015 when I became the deputy manager.

I derive such joy from making each day special for the people under my care. I love that each day is different and brings new exciting opportunities. The prospect of meeting new people, and getting to know them makes every day special. I have enjoyed supporting staff growth and development. I am passionate about training and feel privileged as I am the named dementia trainer in Elmcroft. My background in psychology enables me to support families faced with the difficult decision of leaving their loved ones in a care home. It is also beneficial to staff in my capacity as a mental health first aider in Elmcroft.

I joined Elmcroft in 2002 as a support worker. I moved to New Elmcroft once the new build was completed, 16 years ago this year. In 2010 I became one of the service administrators.

My job is very varied dealing with many aspects regarding staff, residents and relatives as well as outside professionals.

I am always happy to help with anything that I can, taking part in many events over the years, all hopefully to help maintain a happy and healthy environment, especially for our residents.

Hi and welcome to New Elmcroft. My name is Katy and I am part of a two-person team in the Admin Office. Together we handle the day-to-day running of the office and offer a friendly greeting to anyone coming into the home.

The best part of my job is interacting with the home residents and their loved ones, making sure that I am available to help with anything needed and always with a big smile.
