I cannot thank the Old Vicarage Care home staff and managers enough for their brilliant care of my mother from the moment she moved in to their care for her and support for me during and after her passing.

Mum was happy and well looked after with dignity and unfailing compassion from what I observed during my visits.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care and support at this home. The staff are exceptional. The ability to connect with mum has been truly remarkable + reassuring. The team consistently show kindness and genuine compassion, + understand 'personalised care'. The home is clean, comfortable with a warm, homely atmosphere. Activities are plentiful to keep residents engaged and stimulated. Most importantly my mother is happy here which says everything about the home's dedication and care. I would highly recommend it.

My husband attends Old Vicarage Care Home for day care 3 days a week. He really enjoys his visits. I have found the staff to be friendly, understanding and professional. The meals are very good and activities are well organised. I am pleased with the care my husband receives.

The OVC home could not have been more caring to Mum and helpful to us two sons over 6months.
In particular they coped admirably with the dementia and loss of filter that got ever worse in Mum. It was so reassuring that they did not force her to move to a nursing home for Mum's last weeks.

Highly recommend!!

The Old Vicarage is a beautiful old building with nice views either overlooking the main church in St Neots or their large garden, in a quiet road off the high street.
My late mum who had dementia had been a day guest at The Old Vicarage one day a week, for a year before needing to become a permanent resident.
I had been used to overseeing her care at home but in her new home she was in safe hands with their manager, deputy manager and all of the staff.
Mum fitted in well with the other residents and liked to sit in their quieter lounge. She took part in the activities and loved their little dog.
I can't thank the carers enough for the care and attention they gave mum. We were particularly touched how much love they showed her when she was passing.

Your loved one will become part of The Old Vicarage family if they move here.

The Old Vicarage Care Home provided a much needed day care facility for my father twice a week. The staff are extremely caring, taking the time to get to know my father in order to be able to give him the care, respect and attention he needed. It took him a while to settle in due to his dementia and Alzheimer's however the patience of the staff and their ability to encourage him to get involved in activities is a testament to the high level of care they provide. Being able to see him joining in with activities on the social media platform was a lovely way to understand what he had being enjoying whilst he was there as he was unable to communicate this verbally to us. As a family we can not thank all the staff enough for looking after him the way they did during his time there.

My mother has lived at The Old Vicarage for 2.5 years now and the care and compassion has been excellent. All the staff are considerate of Mother's needs, yet seem to be able to gain her cooperation in a loving manner as I never could. Because the home is fairly small, it has a lovely atmosphere and I can visit anytime either in Mum's room, in the garden or borrowing a wheelchair to take her out. Very happy with Mum's care and dreading the day that she may need to move into a nursing home.

My mother spent approximately 18 months in The Old Vicarage. She was well cared for especially during the last few days of her life when she was on end-of-life care. Having full mental capacity she was able to instruct the staff on her needs.

My mother spent 18 months in this care home before her death in April 2024. She had moved to the care home following a fall at home. She soon settled in her lovely room overlooking the garden. Her every need was attended to and she enjoyed her chats with the staff, who recognised that whilst needing assistance with washing and dressing she wanted to stay as independent as possible. My family will be forever grateful for the care and attention given to her.

My mother spent the last 20 months of her life in Old Vicarage Care Home. It is a unique home, small, intimate with knowledgeable staff and a stable workforce who seem to all enjoy their work treating residents as family. The end-of-life care given to my mother in the last few weeks of her life was exceptional. Mum was on the whole happy and any gripe was quickly responded to. A dedicated team and high level of care.

The Old Vicarage Care Home takes fantastic care of my nan. The staff are so caring and attentive. She always says how much she likes the ladies who look after her. I like them too! Somehow they all know my name and what I've been up to. The Facebook group through Covid was brilliant and it's still so nice to see the activities the staff put on. The home itself is in great condition and always lovely and clean. I highly recommend it! Thank you.

I visited The Old Vicarage at the time of the jubilee celebrations and was impressed at how caring the staff were and attentive to all. The residents I chatted to all said how they loved the care home and what a wonderful place it was. It was evident that this was a happy place. My friend has excellent care there by staff for whom nothing is too much and they are always there to help.

Review from Robin N (Husband of Resident) published on 17 August 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The Old Vicarage Care Home is conveniently situated to me and allows me to maintain contact with my wife on a regular basis. The Home is small and very family orientated, meaning that the residents are the family and the staff work in their home. This approach seems to have the desired effect. My wife was a day service user for a short while but her condition and behaviour deteriorated and it became necessary to find her permanent care. The Home had a vacancy and took her in. She has been in their care since early March 2022 and she has settled very well. The staff are very caring and the residents are their first priority. The home is clean and well maintained and my wife seems to enjoy the meals. When I take her out for a coffee or a walk she is never apprehensive or anxious about returning. I would recommend this Care Home and do meet other people who have very high opinions of it. I feel confident that my wife is receiving the best care possible.

My wife was only a resident at The Old Vicarage Care Home for 5 weeks until she had to be transferred to hospital, where she passed away 4 weeks later. During her time at the Old Vicarage, my wife was very well looked after, staff were caring, the facilities good and very clean, the food was excellent, and the whole home seemed very well managed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone looking for similar care.

My mother was under the care of the Old Vicarage Care Home for 10 months before she passed away, recently. The home is very well managed with the care of its residents always a priority. When you enter the building, there is immediately a sense of it being a homely place. It was always spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and perfectly suited to its residents with good home cooking, the sort of food which they would have been used to at home. There was always a good range of activities on offer to keep the residents occupied and stimulated. My mother's bedroom was clean and comfortable but did not feel like a hotel bedroom and there was plenty of room to put personal things. The staff in the home were very caring and were able to provide any equipment to improve comfort and care. I could not fault any aspect of the care which my mother received in the Old Vicarage Care Home.

We always welcome any kind of feed back from family/friends and would like to say thank you for your kind words. As always we strive to make our home as friendly and welcoming as possible and take great pride in the way we look after our 'extended family'. It really is a home-from-home with great care staff, happy atmosphere and excellent food.

Overall Experience

My mother moved to the Old Vicarage in February 2021. She was immediately made very welcome and quickly joined the home community. She was extremely well cared for - particularly important given the current pandemic. I was continually kept advised of her wellbeing and health and was able to visit as agreed by the Care Home and current restrictions. Over the following weeks, Mum's health slowly deteriorated but the home was mindful of additional support and comfort required - the carers were particularly kind and attentive. The home is expertly managed and all carers appear to have the comfort of the residents at the forefront of their care. Mum passed away at the end of May and again, the home could not have been more caring. I am particularly mined of a quote on the main staircase that reads something like - 'this is not our place of work, but your home in which we have the privilege to work' (not an exact quote but the sentiment is obvious).

Reply from Kelly Payne, Registered Manager at The Old Vicarage Care Home

We are very grateful for the kind comments from the family of this resident. It is and always will remain to care for all of our 'family' to the best of our ability and to ensure we truly make this their 'home'.
