Overall Experience

My Mother had lived at The Crown Rest Home for four years before she died. She was very content living there, and to the best of her ability making friends with other residents and the staff. I was so relieved to see her relaxed and happy whenever I visited. She aways need encouragement to join in anything taking place in the home, but joined in she did. She got the stimulous and companionship she never had at home . I was concerned about her growing isolation, and growing care needs which, even with help from carers coming in to see to her daily needs, it was getting to the point mum's quality of life would be so much improve in a care home. I visited many homes and The Crown came out tops. The Home's activities organiser doing a fabulous job keeping everyone active and entertained. Even when mum was dying the care she recieved was excellent, the whole team were all so attentive to both mum and myself. Could not have asked for better care.

Review from L F (Cousin of Resident) published on 30 January 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I visit my cousin most weeks and spend approximately two hours in her company. Most often we sit in one of the communal areas so I feel my general comments are based on what I see whilst there. There feels to be a 'family' atmosphere with lots of positive, often lighthearted, interaction between carers and residents. Knowledge of individual needs, and acceptance of different personalities, creates such a friendly, homely environment.
On arrival I am warmly welcomed each time by the office staff; the manager then gives me an update on how the previous week has been, generally, and then mentions any particular worries my cousin might have. This is really helpful if reassurances might be required. Having visited for a number of months and seen how my relative has been supported and eased into this major change to her life, I am full of admiration for the staff. The comment

" I wouldn't want to move anywhere else " says it all. A contented resident.

The Crown Rest Home cared for my father in law and now a neighbour & friend. There is always a warm, caring atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional. Activities are held regularly and the residents are encouraged to attend village gatherings when they take place, which adds to the homely feel.

The care received to a very good friend of ours for the last 11months was outstanding in every way.

The staff were so kind and caring and nothing was too much trouble for them, even providing lunch for his wife on her visits to the Crown which was very much appreciated.

Mum had an outstanding experience in The Crown.
She received excellent care during her two week respite stay.

This was facilitated by the Managers and carers giving her a warm welcome and a clear care plan; which enabled her to settle quickly.

The transition back home was excellent. We look forward to a further stay going forward.

The Crown is a lovely homely environment, well run with excellent local Carers.

Thank you

My mother has been at The Crown for 18 months now and is settled and happy there. The staff are very committed to providing a good service and someone is always available to speak with and communication with the senior staff is outstanding - everyone takes the time to make sure my mum is looked after 24/7 and that I and my family have peace of mind.

My dad has been at The Crown for over two years. The Crown have adapted his care as necessary. Now he is almost bedbound they take the time to make sure he does not feel isolated and he knows there are always people around him who care. This includes everyone there, the manager, care staff, cleaners and cooks. Thank you for providing exemplary care to my dad.

My mother has been in the care of The Crown Rest Home for the last 4 years and 5 months and has received excellent care during all this time. When she arrived it was under the previous ownership. When ownership changed I did wonder what would happen but all the high standards have been maintained. The staff are excellent and do their best to meet all Mum's care needs. There is a beautiful garden which Mum loves sitting in when the weather is good. The home is always very clean and tidy and the residents seem to enjoy being there. Food is also very good. A big thank you goes to all the staff.

My mother has been a resident at The Crown Care Home for over 2 and a half years, having moved there when it became clear she was no longer happy living alone. She is well settled there, and the staff care for her wonderfully - adapting to her changing care needs with compassion and kindness. I am kept well informed of where her care needs are, and the home responds positively to new adaptations to care plans.

I am so pleased I chose The Crown Rest Home, for my partner to spend the last few months of his life in. The care he received was outstanding, the staff were amazing and a call sent them to the room where he was, as he was not able to press the call button. He didn't want for anything, if he had an accident, it was dealt with quickly and into fresh clothes. The meals that he was offered were outstanding. There were activities for those who could take part, BBQ in the summer, entertainment, dogs and donkeys came to visit, special days for Birthdays.

My mother has been a resident there for the last year and has settled in quite quickly. The staff are attentive, very friendly and thoughtful with regard to my mother's needs.
The activities are varied and fun, along with little trips out to tea dances and art clubs for those who are interested.
There is a lovely large garden for sitting out in during the summer, plus gardening activities again for those who enjoy planting flowers.

Being a small home, all the residents know each other which adds to its homely feel and atmosphere.

Overall Experience
Mum spent the last 7 months at The Crown, moving her from a home in another town. The level of care The Crown provides is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble, the staff are lovely, genuine, compassionate and caring, the previous home is seriously lacking in comparison. Mum felt settled and well looked after. We were able to take her own furniture in and make her room her own. What struck me was how clean the home is, absolutely spotless and odorless. Whenever I went into the sitting room other residents were gathered and they all seemed so happy and content, often doing activities or chatting, such a lovely atmosphere. A special thank you to two members of staff in particular who were there for Mum throughout her stay and particularly took great care of her in her final days.

One thing to mention, when my mum arrived it was under new ownership, my concern was it may not maintain the high standards it had a good reputation for, but I didn't need to worry, the place has been outstanding from the start.

Right up to the point when my father passed away, he was looked after incredibly well. He felt cared for and secure. The staff kept us informed of his condition and were hugely compassionate to us when he died.

The Staff at the Crown have been looking after my father for the past two years and also my mother before she died, nearly four years ago. Last month, my father had his 95th birthday and all the staff made a tremendous effort to make it memorable for him. He is extremely well cared for by all the staff and every effort is made to look after him in a first-class and caring way. He is encouraged to integrate where possible and his key worker works with him to widen his experiences. For me the best testament for the Crown is that many of the staff looking after him so well now are the same as those who cared for my mother, this shows that it is a happy caring environment for staff and residents alike.

My mother spent the last five months of her life in The Crown Rest Home. The care she received was exceptional, the staff demonstrated genuine affection and respect for her and were a great comfort to our family during the emotional period at the end of Mums life.
The standard and quality of the meals and the cleanliness of the building is outstanding and the surrounding gardens are immaculately kept.

My family will always be grateful for the care, attention, love and support given by the staff.

We couldn’t be happier with the care, kindness and nursing expertise offered by The Crown Rest Home. The liaison with our local surgery was effective and efficient, ensuring Mums medical needs were met swiftly. The communication with us, as a family, was so good too. During difficult times of Covid, rigorous procedures were in place to ensure the safety of all, but with this came reassurance that Mum would be safe. We were also so well supported as a family. Very quickly, with snippets of interests noted, conversations soon developed to settle Mum and make her feel safe and develop a sense of belonging. The Crown is a wonderful home, and it goes without saying, it’s spotless! The care and compassion of the staff were so comforting. The Crown really is a very special place to be, with wonderful staff and the best care.
