Brother-in-law was in Harker House for two weeks and absolutely loved it. He was treated extremely well and encouraged in all aspects.
In my own words "I was lucky to get a place here and I don't want to leave" Sadly, he passed away recently.

Highly recommend Harker House.

Harker House is such a pleasant care home. All staff are welcoming and very attentive when it comes to the needs of the residents. Managers go above and beyond to fulfil everyone’s needs. The Christmas fayre was amazing to see and be a part of. Lots of people, everyone was happy and the money raised has gone towards the amenities fund for the residents to give them a better quality of life. They have a good choice of activities, from seated exercises, bingo and outside entertainers on regular basis and something I haven’t seen before; a giant tablet. Very clean and always smells nice. Decor is very up to date.

Harker House is excellent. The staff are always friendly as are the residents. The two in the deputy manager's office are excellent. The food is excellent, plenty of choice. The rooms are comfortable, especially the beds. The entertainment is excellent, I get happy tears and sometimes I will join in. Having the call buzzer is excellent, they are always there. I feel it's always easier at Harker House.

My grandad has been in Harker House since late last year and myself, and my family cannot thank or praise the caring staff enough. My mum is more relaxed that he is receiving effective, and person-centred care. A lot of our family work in Healthcare all holding different frontline positions, and we acknowledge the hard work that the staff do.

My mum spent the last two years of her life at Harker House. Both the family and her were reluctant at first for her to go into care but it was unsafe for her to remain in her bungalow. From the very first day she was made welcome, and after the initial upset at leaving her home she soon settled in and was very happy there. All the staff are very friendly and caring and all her needs were met. The home is clean, the food very good and management is exceptional. My family and I have no hesitation in recommending Harker House to anyone considering a home for their loved one.

My Father spent two and a half years at Harker House before he passed away in June 2022. The staff were unbeatable. He was in the dementia unit and their tireless work through the covid pandemic must earn each a medal for care and devotion to their residents. My father had his quality of life lifted with the 24/7 care he received and if it wasn't for places like this he wouldn't have had that extra two and a half years if he had stayed in his home. I hope Harker House and all the other care homes get the funding from the government that they richly deserved. On behalf of my family thank you for all you did for him.

My mum has been a resident at Harker House for 2 months now. We had previously had a dreadful experience of a temporary care home after Mum was discharged from hospital. So making a decision for her to remain in a care home was extremely difficult, and probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but from my first conversation with the manager here, to viewing the home, and subsequently mum moving in, all my fears and concerns have been allayed. From the moment we arrived, we were met by the manager, deputy manager and care staff who could not have made us feel more welcome, and even made us laugh! All the staff, have been extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and have cared for my mum with the utmost professionalism. Mum has settled well, and I am always kept up to date with her welfare. Myself and my family are able to visit whenever we like, including with Mum's dog! I feel happy and confident that mum is receiving excellent care at Harker House.

Both the manager and deputy manager were waiting for my grandmother to arrive on her first day. They welcomed her and my parents. A very warm, inclusive and friendly atmosphere. Viewing to admission took only two days, and amazing support and consideration were given during this time. My grandmother was playing bingo with other residents by the time my parents left. Such a relief to the family knowing she is being cared for as family.

My father has been at Harker House for the last 2 weeks from the time he was welcomed by numerous members of staff as well as the manager and assistant manager he has thrived and has been looked after more than myself and the rest of the family could have wished for.
The manager and all the staff are a credit to their profession giving not only my father but all the residents we have seen their undivided attention, the food and beverages being top-notch even down to the residents being able to help themselves to fruit and snacks at any time of the day or night from the numerous snack stations around the home.
The whole home, grounds and even the car park are extremely well kept and having spoken to the manager there are even plans for raised planters so the green-fingered residents can tend their own garden.

During the day the residents are kept occupied with bingo, music, quizzes and much more all the family are so glad he is being cared for so well in such a safe environment.

My Dad is on the dementia unit and he is very happy and well looked after. It is so much better for him to be in a Care Home rather than at home with carers coming in. He has company all of the time, or if he wishes to be quiet, he can go to his own room.
During lockdown, the staff gave him love and affection which we were unable to give him physically. Telephone calls or video calls are good, but not as good as a hug.
The carers do a wonderful job and staff have made Harker House into a "home from home".

Well done.

I worked at Harker House for 3 years, the staff, the management and the atmosphere was unbeatable. Everyone was so dedicated to providing such a high level of care and support to those who couldn’t achieve this independently. We were like a big, happy family at Harker House and I will never forget such precious memories we all shared. Harker House will always have such a special place in my heart. It taught me how to grow and develop my career into what I have always dreamed of doing. There is such a huge range of activities and the food all the residents love them! The home is managed exceptionally well and I remain grateful for all the support the management team have given me.

My Mum came to Harker House from another residential home where she was not happy.
Since arriving at Harker House Mum has had nothing but praise for the management and the staff for the wonderful care and support she receives. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are responsive very kind, friendly and attentive.

Myself and my siblings could not be happier with her care and would highly recommend Harker House to other families looking for great residential care.

Grandad came to Harker House during the Lockdown in 2020 and it was hard because of the restrictions to visitors but the staff were wonderful and made Grandad really welcome and gave him much reassurance during his time at Harker House was really well cared for and seemed happy. Every time our family visited Grandad and the residents they were always treated very well and with dignity. I am very grateful to all of the staff for everything they did for my Grandad. It is a really nice home.

I have worked in care since 2007, starting off as a care assistant and progressing into my current position. I have experience of working in various care settings and my last role before joining the team at Harker Houser was as the Manager of a home providing dementia care.

I absolutely love how varied my days are and how rewarding it is to make a difference to residents’ lives by providing good quality, person centred care.
