David had 2 weeks Respite Care in Ashfields in February 26. He was made very welcome and the staff were all very kind and pleasant, responding to his needs. He was able to have visitors at any time throughout the day and they were able to eat alongside him in the Dining Room.
David was taken on a trip to a local pub and there were activities available every day that he could engage with

Ashfield's also offers a monthly Dementia Cafe which we will attend as it will keep David in touch with staff and residents, which will be helpful when he next stays

My step-dad moved into Ashfields early January 2026. The care he's received so far has been excellent in all respects. All the staff seem to be so positive, committed, professional and most importantly kind and patient, both to stepdad and to myself - everyone ranging from the hands-on nursing and care staff, to the chef/kitchen team, laundry room, entertainments team, cleaning, Admin office, Reception and the manager has been consistently superb - and have made the transition so much easier than I thought it would be. The home always looks and smells very clean. Menu choice excellent. Stepdad enjoys the food. Rooms are modern and bright. Visiting is very easy, and it has been lovely to see him clean and smartly dressed at every visit. Also, great to see him joining in with lots of activities and having a much better quality of life than he was having at home. Overall a very kind, and well-organised environment. Not the cheapest, but worth the extra. Thank you everyone there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially tracking down lost items.
David was happy and well looked after during his prolonged respite care. He enjoyed being taken out in the minibus to visit shops and garden centres.

Mum was welcomed to Ashfields in November and seemed to settle well. She has enjoyed some activities and is no longer lonely she still asserts her independence but accepts help better than she did in her own flat.

Family and friends have been made to feel welcome and visit regularly, seeing her much improved from previously. All the staff are approachable and caring and try hard to accomodate her wishes.

To all prospective residents, family and friends, may I say that Ashfields Care Home in Rackheath is a little gem. I hope that this review will assist you in a shortcut towards a place of care of your choosing. First on my list of recommendations is that good quality of care is displayed by regular staff who provide consistency and familiarity they are very patient and treat all residents with dignity 10/10. The staff are flexible and work as a team with good management in a friendly environment. Ashfields is clean and secure with good facilities in a nice setting. The whole team are always helpful over any concerns that relatives may have and are proactive.

Hi, I have visited a couple of friends weekly in October and they find the care home excellent with most helpful staff. I too have found the staff all helpful and willing to help. As my married friends are fairly new residents it's reassuring that they have both settled in well. Excellent.

The home always looks clean and tidy when I visit. The staff are kind and treat the clients with care and dignity which I think is very important.
As a visitor I am always welcomed and I feel very relaxed on my visits.

My brother gets on well with the staff and loves a joke with them. I have noticed that there is one residents that he seems to have a problem with.

My husband has had 2 weeks respite care at Ashfields. I looked at a number of homes before choosing this home, but were particularly impressed by the warmth and friendliness shown to us when we looked round.

All the staff, whatever their role, are dementia trained, and there is an atmosphere of calmness and warmth at the home, and it is very well managed by the enthusiastic, friendly and very professional manager. Although the external appearance of the home is not so prepossessing, inside it is light and bright and well-maintained, with 2 lovely lounges and attractive dining room. There is a lovely garden and many cafes nearby for a family visit. But we were particularly impressed by the high standard of care and attentiveness to his needs,. There is a good range of activities and a very pro-active activities co-ordinator - she managed to persuade even my husband to join in at least some of them!

I would recommend the Barchester Ashfields Care Home based on my experience this year with the care of my father who suffers from dementia and is no longer mobile. The caring staff are kind and attentive and they are also well organised. The management team is supportive and helpful with responding to my questions and keeping in contact with me. Although my father is not yet able to enjoy all of the activities on offer he was pleased to sit in with a music session (visiting musician) last week and get his hair cut at the salon within the care home. The home is clean and well appointed, and the food is also very good. Overall, I think that the care home staff are doing a great job with residents that need patience and understanding and I am pleased that my father is in their care.
