Situated in a semi-rural location in a friendly village in Norfolk, Ashfields is a purpose built home with a high standard of décor, spacious courtyard, pleasant gardens and modern facilities.

This home really does get the best of both worlds; plenty of local amenities yet within easy reach of the historic city of Norwich and the sea side town Great Yarmouth and its beautiful coastal resorts. They're also only 10 minutes from the famous Norfolk Broads.

The home provides first-class 24-hour residential care alongside expert care for people with dementia. They also provide care for those with a physical disability, while a team of highly-qualified and attentive staff really focuses on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person.

I didn't want to put my father in a care home, but the time had come. Ashfields is a wonderful place for my father to be, the care staff go out of their way to see my dad happy, and nothing is too much trouble. Always clean and tidy, and as for the food which is all homemade, it's amazing and dad loves
it, all staff are great couldn't be happier for my dad, he loves it there, A big thank you to everyone for making my dad so happy.

My elderly friend has been a resident at Ashfields for almost two years, since becoming unable to care for herself at home due to failing general health and mental capacity. During those two years, she has been cared for by the Ashfields staff with dignity, kindness and love. The care staff work together
to provide a very clean, comfortable, loving and family-oriented home for their residents. There is a varied programme of weekly activities which is also emailed to relatives for information, and meal menus look tempting and nutritious. In addition, I appreciate greatly the fact that the care home administrator always finds time to help with any queries I may have relating to my friend and her personal affairs when I visit. I can only admire, praise and thank all the staff at Ashfields for their patience, care and dedication to my friend and all the residents in their care.

My mother who was 103 at the time had to go to Barchester after being in hospital with an infection. The staff nursed her back to herself and she has had a wonderful time being able to be included in many of the daily activities the home provides. She has been looked after so well she has now reached
her 104th birthday. The home is clean and the food provided in the dining room or in bed is of a very high standard. I would fully recommend Barchester to anyone.

I am very pleased with my sister's placement at Ashfields Care Home. The home is very clean and welcoming. Nice atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and kind. The bedrooms, lounges and dining room are all beautifully furnished and everywhere is fresh. The meals on offer are well-cooked, varied
and much appreciated. A good selection of activities and outings are on offer for those wishing to take part. Hairdressing and chiropody are on offer too. Pleasant gardens to enjoy. The home is small which enables staff to know all residents by name.

My mum has settled so incredibly well thanks to the staff and environment of this lovely home. The cleanliness of the provision, care and dedication of staff, whether those directly involved in my mum's care or those in the office offering a kind, a listening ear when needed, are all exemplary. Activities
are varied and stimulating, and mealtimes replicate the setting of a high-class hotel so that residents feel valued. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit. A great team, well done, and thank you!

As a family, we love this place!
The staff are kind and understanding and take great care of my mam. The food is fantastic and my mam loves that she can have a glass of wine with her lunch.
Also, whenever we need to talk to anyone, they are there for us. They're all amazing!

Everything about Barchester Ashfields is superb. The staff are all incredibly professional, highly motivated and happy in their work. This is reflected in the way the residents are cared for. Nothing is too much trouble. All of our mother's medical, social and care needs were delivered to the highest
standards with excellent communication to our family. We are in no doubt that the care our mother received contributed greatly in enabling her to recover from her stroke, enabling her to go home. We are really glad we chose Ashfields for our mother and can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks to the whole team.

It was the first time I had seen my mother since the pandemic began, so understandably, I felt nervous about how she would be. I was met at the door with smiling kindness and efficiency while I took a test. And then taken to visit my mum, who recognised me, even though she can no longer speak! But with
the kindness, I want to comment on most - even though other refurbishments and arrangements are good. Kindness is beyond price. The kind of kindness that meant my mother was wearing a blouse I had brought her for Christmas but never seen. The kind of kindness that makes my mum feel safe and me supported. Thank you so much.

Helpful, friendly staff. Nothing seems too much trouble and seems very much like a large family. Even in tough Covid times, residents are being kept entertained. Always seem to show a lot of respect, understanding and care to treat people as individuals. Most of all, they have made my mum feel safe

When I can, I visit my grandad in the pod. He can't speak highly enough of how friendly and caring the staff are. It is good that we have the opportunity to see him in this way, as miss not being able to see him as often as I can. Keep up the amazing work.

My parents moved to Ashfields for emergency respite. Covid has meant we have not been able to visit to fully appreciate the care home. We have visits in the visitor suite and the staff have been superb, caring and understanding. There has been regular contact by phone and we are welcome to ring them
anytime. My mother has eating issues and the staff are constantly trying to find different food and ways to encourage her. From what we have been able to see in these difficult times I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ashfields.

I see my grandad in the outdoor pod weekly and every time he is the happiest man and always has a new story to tell. He is definitely well looked after and a lot happier than when he lived on his own. The staff are always lovely. Overall an amazing care home.

Ashfields took my mother in when she needed palliative care. She had lived in an alternative home for 12 months but her dementia had got worse and she broke her hip. After being discharged from hospital, my mother was only at Ashfields for 5 days before she passed away but the care given to her and
to us was outstanding. Had she pulled through, I would have been very happy for her to remain at Ashfields amongst such caring staff. From the admin team, who dealt with the paperwork and admission seamlessly, through to the care workers who, even in just 5 days, showed real compassion. To know that she even had a care worker with her at the end, holding her hand was most reassuring for the family. Thank you for making mom's last few days comfortable and for looking after her so well. At least her last few days were in a wonderful place, thank goodness she was not still in hospital.

Mum has now been in the care home for a couple of months. She is well cared for. She is safe. I cannot comment on the rooms or internal as I have not been in, but I am certain everything is just as it should be. More than happy she is in the best place with excellent care staff.

I have 27 years of experience in healthcare, starting from working as a Rural Health midwife in the Philippines to being hired by Barchester Health Care in 2003. I joined Barchester in 2019 and I have always enjoyed helping people. I like to spend time with the residents and their loved ones, listening to their stories and ensuring we support them when needed. 


Helping our residents settle into their new homes, and making sure they that feel comfortable and receive the best possible care is very important to me.

My name is Xen and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at Ashfields.


I have experience working in care homes in Activities leisure and lifestyle roles. In my own time, I love to go antique shopping and make crafts. 


I love being part of the Ashfields team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel its important for the residents to have the opportunity to explore new interests as well as keep up with previous interests and hobbies.
