Harbour Rise

My mother moved into Harbour Rise four weeks ago it was a huge wrench for her to leave her home and the country she had lived in all her life. When we arrived there was a welcome card and flowers in Mum's room. Mum has Alzheimer's and does not realise the level of care and support she needs in it's early days for her. The staff are lovely and doing all they can to make her feel at home she has a board in her room reminding her when my daughter and I are visiting which helps. As the weeks move on Mum is becoming a lot less anxious she tells me the staff are lovely the food is good and everyone is very kind. I can see for myself Mum is very well looked after and that is a great relief to me. Living on her own at home Mum's anxieties were through the roof for the first time since I can remember Mum is not biting her nails which is a clear indication to me she is feeling a lot less anxious. My daughter is painting her nails next week she has asked for pale pink nothing gaudy.

Over these past five years Harbour Rise turned a difficult and frightening situation for our family into a calm and peaceful solution to all our fears. We are eternally grateful for the way they loved and cared for Mum and Dad. Thank you.

I cannot thank you enough for taking such wonderful care of my father before he sadly passed away peacefully at the end of August. All of your staff were incredibly kind and caring. You welcomed him into the home with open arms and went above and beyond to ensure that his last few days were as comfortable as possible. Your staff were all Angels. You then took sure great care of my mum at such a difficult time, with endless hugs and cups of tea. On top of that your staff always asked me how I was when I came to visit and you made the rest of the family so welcome. It has not been an easy few weeks, but you made my life so much easier, as I knew my mum was safe and happy. She made so many friends. She cried when she first went in, as she did not really want to be there, but then she cried when she left, as she felt such a part of the family. She is still coming back at least one day a week to meet up with the friends she has made. She loved the food, especially the homemade rice pudding!

My mother was a resident for just three months having come from a different care home, but the positive difference in her confidence and happiness cannot be understated. As her time there was during the more stressful period of the pandemic, it is a testament to the owners (very hands-on and very attentive to her needs) and all of the staff. My mother went from very unhappy and depressed to the most positive and happy I have known since I was a child. I cannot thank or recommend highly enough the home and its entire team. Should I find myself or any of my relatives in a similar position, I would not hesitate to use the home's services again. Genuinely outstanding in every way.

The activities are amazing, there is always something going on, and the residents have a great time. I can without any doubt recommend Harbour Rise to anyone that has a loved one that needs caring for.

My dad has been at Harbour Rise since 2019. It was a difficult decision, but his care since the start has been outstanding. The staff (many of whom have been there for a number of years) have all got to know dad really well: they know he likes his food, watching sport, taking part in quizzes, singing along to the entertainers, and watching the passers-by from the balcony. The carers put on an amazing range of activities in the lounge, and there is no end to the stimulation residents receive. Harbour Rise was brilliant during the lockdowns: they quickly organised visiting pods, and a booking-in service meant that visits could go ahead regularly. We are kept fully up to date with dad’s medical needs, dental appointments, chiropody and barbering – all taken care of by HR. The accommodation is modern, light and airy, and spotlessly clean. I would have no hesitation in recommending Harbour Rise to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.

I am writing to say I was very pleased with the way Harbour Rise Care Home cared for my dear friend who spent some considerable time at the home. On my visits, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and my friend always looked well cared for. I could ask any questions and always had honest answers. So I always had peace of mind knowing that my friend was in safe hands. I would definitely recommend Harbour Rise to anyone having to consider a home for a loved one.

If you are at all worried about moving your loved one into a residential home I can assure you 110% you will not have anything to worry about at HR. They become your family. Thank you Harbour Rise for all your efforts.

Sadly we lost our precious mum in March this year. Words can not describe just how grateful we are as a family for the wonderful care that mum had during her stay at Harbour Rise. Many of the staff became her 'friend' as she would say to us. Harbour Rise is a lovely place for someone you care about to spend their final years knowing that their standards are very high, and the staff very caring. Thank you to each and every one of you who took such good care of our mum.

Mums end of life care was superb, delivered with care and compassion, Mum prided herself on her appearance the staff even made sure she had her earrings and necklace on at all times, her skin routine was maintained too. All this whilst delivering pain relief and support, family visits were facilitated and nothing was ever to much trouble. My family and I will be forever grateful for the respect and dignity shown to Mum in her last days.

Unfortunately, following an awful UTI in the previous July, the dementia had crept in, as it does, and this caused the chain of events that led to her passing. We were blessed to have been able to spend every day of the last two weeks with her, saying our goodbyes and sending her off peacefully to be with Dad again. For that opportunity and everyone's kindness at that time we will always be grateful.

My Mum and I are extremely pleased with the care given to my Dad. Harbour Rise spots any abnormalities if they should arrive and treatment is given promptly. We have known the home for many years and we would not wish Dad to be anywhere else. The staff are very helpful, friendly and caring and we have got to know them all very well over the years, they are like family to Mum and I. The home is always spotless and so clean, it's impeccable. My Mum's mobility is limited and we have carried out different visits throughout the Covid pandemic. We have had window visits, used the homes visiting pods and also used the Harbour Rise cafe which we book via the office. The home has been exceptionally well organised throughout Covid. It has catered extremely well for everyone's needs, ensuring safety for all, we have supported the home in whatever way needed and will continue to do so. 100% satisfaction from our family and we cannot thank everyone enough at Harbour Rise.

My 96-year-old mother has been at Harbour Rise for a couple of months now and we are so, so happy and relieved that she is there, in safe hands and being so well cared for and looked after. Mum became unwell and had to spend some time in hospital. I flew over from Canada to take care of her because after years of being fiercely independent and determined to look after herself (and not wanting to bother others) she needed help. Harbour Rise rightly has a fabulous reputation and the response and follow up from all the wonderful staff was absolutely superb. We were fortunate that space became available and Mum was able to join this wonderful facility. Thanks to everyone at Harbour Rise for their kind understanding during this difficult time of transition. All of the dedicated staff show love, respect and understanding and help to provide a happy, safe, entertaining environment for Mother. Attention to detail is excellent. In fact, outstanding all around.

Harbour Rise proved to be the best choice of care home to look after my uncle. Every member of staff was respectful to him and he very much appreciated their kindness, help and support especially as he became older and his needs became greater. He really enjoyed the entertainment provided, in particular the sing-a-longs. There is a bright canteen and social area plus another cosy room with a bar where the residents can just relax and have a tipple. Overall, in my experience, everyone was professional, efficient but also approachable, always pleasant and very caring.
