Overview

The Review Score of 9.2 (maximum of 10) for Northfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Northfield House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.738 for Northfield House is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.738

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northfield House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 5 Target = 0.600

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.2 Northfield House has a Review Score of 9.2 (9.233) from 12 Reviews

My mother was a resident for about 2 1/2 years. In her time there she was well looked after and her room was always clean and tidy, the carers seemed sympathetic and attentive.

Thank you very much for your review, we appreciate your comments and positive feedback!

My cousin, who is a resident, has no close family apart from myself and another cousin. Both of us live at some distance from Stroud and are wholly reliant on the Northfield House staff. Welcoming and settling in a new resident in her nineties suffering from the disorientation of dementia is no easy task, but it was accomplished at Northfield House with great skill, warmth and patience. In the caring profession, some staff turnover is inevitable, but it is clear that new carers at Northfield House are brought up to a high level very quickly. The Management team, are focussed on the residents' needs and quick to respond. Northfield House is a place of great warmth.

Thank you Richard the team are very pleased to hear about your very positive experience for your relative at Northfield House.

Cannot praise everyone enough. My husband was cared for in a very kind and caring manner as were all of his relatives and friends. The staff were wonderful. We witnessed staff interactions between other residents and only ever saw kindness and care. Thank you all so much.

We are delighted that you have been so happy with your experience. Your comments will be greatly appreciated by the team at Northfield House. Thank you!

The staff display care with intelligence and with compassion. During my many visits, I had the opportunity of watching and hearing how the other residents were treated. It was heart warming. I could not have chosen a better care home for my mother in which to spend her last months. I am extremely grateful to the management and to the staff. Too often one reads or hears horror stories about treatment in care homes. Northfield is the exception. It does what it says it will do but with aplomb.

The Staff and Management Team were delighted to receive such a review and very much appreciate all the positive comments ...it makes our work even more worthwhile!
Care and consideration given to those within the home involves more than just those living there, it extends to the Families and Loved ones who also play a big part too. Thank you

My sister, who has multiple problems has been cared or in a professional, kind and appropriate way. Extra provision such as a storyteller and masseur have been made possible. Despite some bizarre behaviour from my sister, she has always been given additional help with eating and activities.

My mother has been a resident of Northfield House for almost 2 years. In that time the manager retired with her assistant. For a while, it became disjointed as a few members of staff left and consequently, new staff along with new manager were learning the ropes. I can honestly say now that the home is running smoothly and all the staff are trained and knowledgeable regarding dementia.

Thank you for your review, your positive comments are very much appreciated by our team.

I was really concerned about my nan moving into an 'old people's home' but I understood why she needed to go. In my opinion, she couldn't have ended up in a nicer place. The home is bright, well decorated and welcoming, there is always something going on. The staff are all fantastic, so kind, caring and friendly. There is a warm, family atmosphere and I know that nan is fond of a lot of the staff and other residents. When we visit my 4-year-old daughter and I are made to feel very welcome and at home. She is never "shhh-ed" or told not to do anything. It's such a lovely, happy place. I can't thank the lovely staff enough.

Thank you very much for your review, the Team at NH very much appreciate your kind comments.

My mum was a resident at Northfields House for approx 4 years. She had Alzheimers and passed away in February 2016. The staff & carers at the home treated her like a family member at all times. Treated her with love & care. Mum felt safe there. She loved all the entertainment - music, parties, games....visits from Santa! When her illness really took hold, the carers treated her with the utmost respect.

Home was bright and clean. Staff were helpful and cheerful, residents were always happy and well looked after. Rooms seen were clean and care has been taken to make them "homely". The overall atmosphere was comfortable and the staff work hard to make it a "home from home".
