Sanctuary Care’s core value is about enriching lives, and this is a value I share. I’m passionate about providing a stable, caring and responsive environment for the people we support, as well as enabling residents to be the best versions of themselves.
I’ve worked in adult health and social care since 2001, and over recent years I’ve managed services for people with autism and learning disabilities.
Joining Sanctuary Care has given me a new and exciting challenge, one that I’m hugely enjoying.
I joined Regent in 2017 as a Team Leader and I have been Deputy Home Manager since 2020.
I began my career working in retail management and it wasn't until 2003 when my mother passed away from cancer, I decided a complete career change and embarked on my journey in care.
I thoroughly enjoy my role at Regent, making a positive difference to our lovely residents' lives and supporting their families during the decision process of placing their loved ones into a care home.
Working at Regent is like having an extended family and we have an amazing team to enrich our residents' lives.
When you meet activities coordinator Helen, she exudes so much energy and passion it’s easy to see why she’s stayed at Regent Residential Care Home in Worcester for 13 years.
“I absolutely love it,” she says. “It’s arriving in the morning and seeing the residents’ faces light up as they say ‘what are we going to do today?”
For Helen, the most important part of her role is knowing she is enriching the lives of her residents every day.
She says: “I love that when I go home, I know I have made a difference in someone’s life. Whether that’s compassion and being there, having fun or helping someone to do something they thought they couldn’t do, the feeling is incredible!”
Knowing that I'm helping my residents maintain such a good quality of life is a great personal achievement. Supporting them to live independently and boosting their morale is a great feeling.
I like to think outside the box. Life isn’t box-shaped, it’s a kaleidoscope of shapes and colours, like us all.
