Reviews

8.2 Aigburth has a Review Score of 8.2 (8.188)

The Review Score of 8.2 (maximum of 10) for Aigburth is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Aigburth in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.759 for Aigburth is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.759

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.429 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aigburth is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 11.2 positive Reviews (56 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 11.2 Target = 0.179

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Our aunt was accepted as a future resident, in an interview in her own home, with sympathetic questioning overcoming a mild resistance to leaving her own home. Her room is excellent with a mixture of her own furniture and that of the home. Her vegetarian diet is coped with. She eats in a small dining room which encourages interaction with other residents. Interaction is also encouraged in the lounge where activities are provided, quiz afternoon, songs from the past, physical activities appropriate to people with limited movement on all weekdays. Services are held but my aunt chooses to participate only occasionally. She has a specific carer but a team are also involved.
They are very sympathetic to the needs of residents (including pushing a wheelchair around in our case). They are sensitive to cleaning and toilet needs.

My aunt has been treated with the utmost care, kindness and concern since her admission in November 2016. Initially reluctant to leave her home, she has been given every support to settle into a new environment and the home's routines. She was introduced to other residents and everything was explained coherently to her. Being increasingly lonely at home, she has relished the variety of the activities on offer: quizzes, sing-songs, film and crafts. The daily sheets with meals and timetable has helped her and visitors, to understand the pattern of each day.
We, as her next-of-kin, are so very happy that her well-being is paramount and all of the staff, in their many different roles, have contributed to this. It has also been marvellous that our needs have been met too: anxieties about her settling, how she has been during the night or on days when we have not visited and help with what we could provide from her home has always been available.

The staff made our family visit to my mother-in-law really great, my son and his 18month old can't get to visit often due to distance so it was very nice for the home staff to put in the extra effort to rearrange the lounge so we could all eat lunch together and brought a tea trolley for us to use. We stayed on for the afternoon quiz which is great fun, a very good home, always clean and welcoming. Many thanks to the staff who work so hard.

My mum has been in this care home for 3 and a half years now. The standard of care has always been good and this has recently improved to excellent. A good variety of activities each day and thoughtful management of often challenging circumstances. Although my mum was reluctant to leave her home. She is now settled in a secure and caring environment which always put her best interests first.

From when my father first moved to this care home in March he has been treated with the utmost respect. The care he has received has been first class. All residents are treated with the highest dignity and best interests are aimed to be upheld at all times. Value for money is brilliant. As a non profit organisation, it's excellent value. My father feels very comfortable and has settled very well and treats the care home as his own home.

My mother has been at Aigburth for nine weeks. In that time she has been transformed. The care she receives from all the staff is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good, both in variety and quantity. She has a lovely room looking out on the garden, which she loves.
There is entertainment and activity everyday and church services twice a week. Mum has found her singing voice again!
All the staff, from the manager downwards are friendly and approachable. I can relax knowing that my mother is in good hands.

My husband went for three weeks respite and the gentle encouragement they give to be active is wonderful. The activities and entertainment are excellent, he was even encouraged to go on a boat trip and I was there when he returned tired but very happy. Some days I went and had lunch and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I certainly did, it was very tasty. My only worry is when we need respite again he will be able to return.

My mother has just completed respite care of one month with Aigburth MHA, Oadby. She has thoroughly enjoyed her stay and feels that her needs have been met with kindness, compassion and respect. The homely, Christian environment has been welcoming and the staff have made a great effort to integrate her into the daily life of the home with it's excellent daily activities. She has mentioned the high quality of the food too!
My mother has thrived due to the tireless care and attention of the staff and is looking forward to her next respite stay.

My mother-in-law was made very welcome during her recent stay. She was made to feel at home and loved the food. She was particularly happy that she was able to spend some time with her sister who is a permanent resident. We were so happy with the service that we are hoping to arrange respite care for her when we go on holiday, knowing that whilst we are away, she will be in good hands.

My mum has been in Aigburth for a year. She is happier and healthier now, a year on, than when she arrived. Her room is modern with lovely practical furniture, an en-suite, and a view of trees and abundant wildlife from her window. The outside gardens and decking area are excellent for walking, sitting in the sun, or just talking and having fun.
There are usually two organised activities each weekday and a church service on Sunday for anyone who wants to join in. There is an emphasis on musical activities, not just singing, but playing instruments and listening to guest musicians.
The carers are wonderful and create a happy atmosphere within the home. All staff, including seniors, carers, cleaners, kitchen and maintenance staff, office workers, activity coordinators and volunteers are friendly and welcoming.
I'm so lucky there was a vacant room for my mum last year.

This Home has always offered excellent service to my sister for the last three years. The Staff are excellent and very caring and listen to any concerns that might occur. They always inform me when there is need to i.e. doctors visit etc.
There is a good atmosphere in the Home which is a sign that the staff are happy looking after the residents.
I have nothing more to say other than I would highly recommend this Home.

Aigburth is a leading example of how a care home should function. It is light and airy, lovely d├ęcor, large, spacious rooms with full en-suite facilities. The standard of cleanliness is excellent, laundry care is excellent and my mother states the food is very good indeed!

Above all of this, the staff are wonderful. They are caring, compassionate, patient with the residents and treat them like their own family.

There is excellent pastoral care from the chaplain. The activities co-ordinators go above and beyond any others I have seen to entertain and involve residents in activities.

My mother was very frail when she first went into Aigburth and has absolutely blossomed in their care.

From the management, through the administration/facilities staff, the carers, laundry, kitchen etc. - everyone makes it their mission to ensure the physical, emotional and spiritual welfare of the residents is their top priority.

I am thankful for the piece of mind they give me.

My mother moved into Aigburth last June and has found the quality of care to be very good. There is a strong emphasis on person-centred care, valuing and acknowledging individual needs and interests. In particular the weekday daily programme of activities is impressive, offering a good variety of activities to participate in, which is especially important for those with limited mobility or dementia and in creating a sense of community within the home. There are also exceptionally kind and dedicated volunteers who assist in the home and staff and volunteers who work over and above the call of duty/basic roles required to build good, trusting, respectful relationships with residents and offer genuine warmth and humour which uplifts spirits, as well as making relatives/visitors very welcome. Shortly after Mum moved in there was a new cook and I have to say that the food provided is now of a very good standard and plentiful.

Modern, always clean and well designed. Very good care delivered by always cheerful and sensitive staff. My 95 year old father who is very difficult to please nowadays has been impressed by my mother's care since she went in in January and often joins her for meals and the excellent entertainment which stimulates all those involved. I looked at many homes last year and we are so pleased that we chose Aigburgh over the others.

We are generally very happy with the care at Aigburth - and really, really appreciate the care and attention of one senior carer in particular. We do, occasionally have frustrations about communications. We live away from Leicester and rely on telephone and email for contact with staff. This doesn't always work effectively. The "satisfactory" comment on management reflects the fact that there have been a number of changes over the last two years.

Wholly satisfied with the home, its situation and ambience is excellent, the decor and ensuite facilities of the accomodation are very pleasing. The attention given by the staff to my wife during a short but painful problem was second to none, they have a genuine concern not only for the residents but also for their relatives. This is on a daily basis.
