MHA Aigburth is a care home designed to provide a welcoming and vibrant environment for all its residents. Located in Oadby, Leicester, the modern, en-suite accommodation spread across three floors, the home caters to a range of needs including advanced dementia and residential care for 56 residents.

The en-suite bedrooms are complemented by comfortable communal lounges, a sensory room, and a coffee bar that doubles as a space for family gatherings and celebrations. Regular visits from a chaplain provide multi-faith services, while one-to-one activities are available for residents who prefer quieter, personalised experiences.

The lovely gardens are much more than just outdoor spaces, they are places to relax, connect, and enjoy nature. Beautifully landscaped and maintained by volunteers, the gardens offer a peaceful haven for residents, complete with vibrant flowerbeds, shady seating areas, and accessible pathways.

My aunt is content and well looked after. There are so many activities that my aunt can't find the time to participate in them all! I don't live locally and so it is reassuring to know that the staff will call to let me know of any changes to my Aunt's medical condition. The home is very clean and all
of the staff are lovely.
Reply from Naeema Adam, Administration Manager at AigburthThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're really pleased to hear that your aunt is happy and well cared for, and that she's enjoying the wide range of activities on offer. It's also great to know that our communication gives you reassurance, especially as you don't live locally.

The care and support my Mum receives at Aigburth continues to be excellent
All staff regularly consider and respond to her changing and complex individual physical and mental health needs . Recently she has struggled with chewing and swallowing so her food has to be minced or soft.Great consideration
has been given to ensure her meals remain tasty and satisfying eg .adding toppings of melted cheese or alternative desserts such as individual portions of Tiramasu !
Many thanks to all the kitchen staff for their care and creativity !
Also Mum's faith is respected with Catholic priests visiting Mum for communion and prayer aswell as the attention of the kind regular chaplain.
These are just a few of the many ways in which quality of care at Aigburth remains ( after over 10 years of my Mums residency), exceptional .
Reply from Naeema Adam, Home Manager at AigburthThank you so much for your lovely feedback about your Mum's care at Aigburth. We're really pleased to hear how well the team continues to support her changing needs, and we'll be sure to pass on your kind words to the kitchen staff and wider team. It's also great to know that her faith and spiritual needs are being respected and supported.

Mum frequently tells me 'I can't fault the home'.
I visit Mum a number of times a week. I am always greeted by all staff irrespective of their role in a warm and friendly manner. Staff extend a similar warm welcome to Mum's elderly sister to ensure her visits are a positive experience. I think Mum
is living in a supportive and caring environment and after each visit I leave in the knowledge she is safe, well looked after and comfortable. I feel very fortunate to have found Aigburth House The staff group and volunteers deliver a very high quality service to create an inclusive needs led supportive environment for all residents in their care
Reply from Naeema Adam, Administration Manager at AigburthThank you for sharing such kind and reassuring feedback. We are delighted to hear how happy your mum is at Aigburth and that both you and your family feel so warmly welcomed by the team. Your comments about the care, inclusivity, and supportive environment mean a great deal to us and will be shared with our staff and volunteers. Knowing that you leave each visit feeling confident in your mum's comfort, safety, and wellbeing is truly rewarding for us all.

From the admissions process to resident care, the team at Aigburth have been outstanding. Mum's room is bright and well appointed. The staff are outstanding with excellent processes for exchange of information between shifts to ensure round the clock efficiency and continuity of care. The home is clean
and the air fresh. Visiting is a pleasure. Everything Mum needs is provided, with an excellent range of entertainments, trips, and services available to residents.
Mum initially moved to Aigburth for two weeks respite care, but within three days of being there she made the decision she wanted to stay.

Over the past two years my Dad has received the most wonderful care from the staff and volunteers at Aigburth. The care and support he is given is second to none and he loves the company. It has been a joy to see all the enrichment activities that are provided for Dad and the other residents including
music therapy, outings to a member of staffs allotment, visits from John the animal man and concerts. Very quickly Aigburth has become a home from home, not just for Dad but our family and friends when we visit.

Mum is so happy and content at The Aigburth. Her room is perfect, her care is second to none. Love seeing the photos of her enjoying the activities. She loves the garden and we walk around it every time visit. I feel she is totally safe and looked after. I don't worry at all about her. It is always
clean, tidy and very welcoming. I am so glad we found this care home for mum I cannot praise it enough. Thank you everyone for being so caring and looking after my mum. X

My mum actually went into the Aigburth after my sisters and myself heard good recommendations about the care home ( mum was in a care home close to her actual Melton Mowbray home)
Mum as dementia.
We weren't disappointed with the care and attention mum received once admitted .
The staff are first
class and the facilities are second to none .
Mum goes out on regular trips from the home and events are regularly held actually in the home .
We are kept up to date on how mum is doing and if we want to ask any questions a member of staff is always on hand to handle our query .
All this really helps putting us at ease that mum is safe and well looked after on her current journey .
We all would recommend the Aigburth .
The following categories on ' Treated with dignity '
and ' Safe /Security ' are paramount.

Great experience settling my dad in as a new resident, the staff liaised with the hospital he was being treated in and made sure the transfer went smoothly and that we as a family were kept informed at all times. The staff were very welcoming when my sister & I visited to look at the home (we could
tell straight away how lovely everyone is). Then when we visited when my dad had moved in, it was clear how much effort the staff were putting in to make him and us feel welcome.

My auntie moved to Aigburth in February. She was with drawn and wouldn't leave her bed. But with support from a grate care team they have brought her back eating drinking and being part of the Aigburth family. It's all down to the care and support she has been given over the past 7 months. I am very
grateful for the work they have done with my auntie. Thank you.

The residents are well-respected and well looked after by the staff. They all go the extra mile to make every day as good as it can be, even if the resident is having a difficult day. There are lots of activities including day trips even for those with additional healthcare, cognitive or physical needs.

As soon as I made my first visit I was impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the home. I still think that, after my wife has been in a short while. My wife is very well looked after, great care is taken over her medication, everywhere is spotlessly clean, the garden is attractive and well
maintained and the food is good. I can't fault anything.

My Mother really likes the home and is well looked after even when she has a problem. She has been out on various occasions organised by the home and has alwas enjoyed them. She also has 'games' in the home occasionally winning!
She has asked for different things for lunch and people has produced them
for her (and others).
I and Brother and sister visit her when we can and take her out too. When we are in the home the employees are all friendly.

A warm welcome is always present from the care and administrative staff. We are never made to feel that we are inconvenient.
The property is clean and well maintained. The gardens are particularly well maintained and are a credit to the volunteers. We really look forward to taking Mother for a walk
around the gardens and we all feel refreshed by it.
Mother seem totally satisfied with her care and eagerly awaits each meal.
The senior care staff seem to have a good appreciation of Mother's medical needs and seem to be managing her problems appropriately.

My Mother has been in Aigburth Care Home since October 2021 and is settled and comfortable there and that home has an excellent team of staff supported by many volunteers and an active Friends of Aigburth group. There are many staff members who have been there a long time and are prepared to do extra
work above their call of duty. Indeed the deputy manager and a senior carer are carrying out the redecoration of the Treetops Lounge there in their own time. The success of the home is due to it being a Methodist Home and my Mother and other residents there have known the home since it was built in the 1960s and were active in the Friends of Aigburth and supporting events there since that time before becoming residents there themselves. It is important that there is both a Sunday Service and Midweek services there every week and the chaplain there does a good job, and as a Methodist member myself I'm encouraged to continue to be involved in helping at the home as far as I'm able to do so.

It was a difficult decision to move Aunty into a dementia care home, away from her locality, but Aigburth, over the last 18 months, has allayed our concerns. The staff are all friendly and approachable and most importantly Aunty is very well cared for and respected as an individual.
Aigburth maintains
very good communication with relatives and is a lovely place to visit.
Information shared and involvement encouraged by relatives, as well as varied enrichment activities for residents, is so positive.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.893)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.893) out of 10 for Aigburth is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.893 for Aigburth is calculated as follows: ( (410 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 459 Ratings = 4.893
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aigburth is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
