Family-run Moat House Care Home offers award-winning affordable luxury in the beautiful conservation area of Burbage village, Leicestershire.

Wellbeing and happiness is at the heart of the home and dedicated activity coordinators provide residents with a daily fun, engaging and stimulating social programme designed to encourage a fulfilled, happy and enriched life.

In the dementia care suites, residents have access to sensory areas, reminiscence activities and memory boxes. With its own minibus, Moat House residents frequently get out and about on day trips to places of local interest.

Well-equipped facilities include spacious, tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, a traditional pub, hair salon, and lifestyle kitchens where residents are encouraged to assist with everyday tasks such as making a cup of tea or laying the table for dinner. My mother-in-law somewhat reluctantly went to Moat House for convalescent care following a hip replacement. Right from the start, her view of care homes was changed completely. Moat House was more like being in a good quality hotel! The care was absolutely excellent - caring without being intrusive
or overpowering. Food of a very high standard, and they actually listened to what she wanted, especially concerning portion size!
There were plenty of social activities available, should she have chosen, and definitely allowing for residents being lively and interested, rather than jollying them along like children or holiday camp residents.
She wouldn't be afraid to go back, should the need ever arise.

My mother has been a resident at Moat House for the last six months and in that time, her care has been exemplary. I cannot thank the care team enough, for their patience, kindness and knowledge to keep her well and happy. I enjoy visiting daily as it feels like a home from home, everyone's so friendly
and I see the high quality in care is constant. The surroundings are very pleasant, beautiful gardens, trees and in the centre of the village for walks, church, lunch and places to visit. My mother has her own garden area from her room, which she loves. Food excellent, with choice. Lots of activities to take part in, the place buzzes with positivity. The building is maintained to a high standard, plus they are very accommodating in how you would like your room arranged, furnished. We have also viewed other homes and more expensive locally. Highly recommend.

Staff are attentive and professional. My father enjoys the company of the staff and feels very content at Moat House. He is still very much able to maintain his independence and personal choices but feels safe during the night and at times when he is tired knowing staff are always available to support
him. As a family we can visit any time and take him out. Staff always ensure he is ready to go. They also arrange appointments such as eye, ear tests and GP visits. This all helps to give us peace of mind that his health is being monitored.

After having a hip replacement operation I needed 24/7 care on being discharged.
I am 84 years old and live alone.
I knew I wouldn't be able to manage because I have to use crutches.
I booked myself into Moat House and it's the best thing I could have done.
I have been cared for in the most professional
manner from top management to the care assistants, cleaners, kitchen staff.
If you are looking for 5-star hotel treatment for yourself or a family member, Moat House is the one.

From the initial interview/viewing prior to mother's entry, to her departure, she was treated with great respect and care from all the staff at Moat House.
Being a very independent woman, mother found relying on other people difficult to accept at first, but the staff allowed her to have some independence,
which added to her happiness.
The atmosphere created at Moat House by the surroundings, the lack of odours so often found in other care homes, and above all the quality of staff makes Moat House a wonderful place to live.

My mother moved into Moat House Care Home several years ago. She died in February 2017 aged 92 years. My sister visited several times each week and I visited periodically. We found the staff very caring, supportive and friendly. My mother was very happy there. The staff cried as the hearse left for
my mothers funeral. Very moving. Well done and thank you.

Nothing was ever too much trouble and the fact that the staff were able to make mum comfortable, hourly in her last days, in her own room and not carted off to hospital meant so much to us all, as it fulfilled her wishes.
Family on 24-hour vigil were always offered food and drink which was so appreciated.

Mum moved to Moat House 12 months ago. She has been living in care homes since March 2011. This is our third home with the previous two left due to poor care, attitude and standards. Since moving to Moat House the care and home is 200% better than experienced previously. Excellent staffing levels, care

My mother was a resident at the Moat House for just over one year. Overall I was very happy with the care she received. Unfortunately, with advancing dementia, Mum was reluctant to participate in activities and didn't really appreciate the food.


When I visited at meal times I was always impressed

with the standard of the food. As I visited the home most days I got to know staff very well and was generally very impressed. I am very grateful to the Moat House for the care my mother received in the last few weeks of her life. All carers showed compassion and made it possible for my mother to die in the restful, calm environment of a care home, rather than a busy hospital.

My great aunt and great uncle have both stayed at Moat House in the past few years. Sadly my aunt passed away in 2015, but as she was so well looked after and seemed to enjoy her time there so much, as a family we thought it was just the place for my great uncle to stay after he had a fall recently
until he recovered. They both really liked the staff who are all lovely and were able to make lots of new friends and were able to retain a lot of independence despite their need for care. All in all, I think it's a wonderful home and would highly recommend it. Every time I visited either of them I always felt it was a very welcoming place and the quality of care was excellent.

Moat House provides a safe and homely environment. The staff are attentive and have worked hard to make my Aunty feel settled during a turbulent time for her. Eating adequately is a big issue for my Aunt and the staff have been caring and supportive in their approach. The variety and availability of
food is top class - nothing seems to be too much trouble.


There is a wide range of activities which residents are encouraged to participate in - we haven't yet visited the pub, but I am sure that will be on the agenda soon.


The administrative staff were helpful in making arrangements for moving into Moat House and were able to provide reassurance. In our situation, they worked hard to provide a quick solution in a crisis situation.

I visit Nan weekly at different times on different days. Every time I go, there is always an activity going on where staff are the 'heart and soul' leading and supporting residents in participation. Staff are always bright and cheery, flexible and accommodating. I often join Nan for dinner and they

The staff are always really pleasant and friendly and my uncle is well cared for and happy. Every time we visit, Moat House is clean and tidy and all the residents are happy and comfortable. The rooms are a good size and the en-suite facilities well designed to meet the resident's needs. We particularly
like the well designed communal areas but especially like the 'Memory Box' containing items personal to my uncle.
It is such a good idea to have meaningful items around to personalise his environment.

From the initial enquiry every effort was made to make my parents and family part of the Moat House experience. They quickly settled in with support from all the staff. Despite difficult times with my mother the staff remain professional and involve family in decisions to be made. Records can be accessed
at anytime. 24 hour access to the home helps due to the distance I have to travel to the home. All staff including cleaners, cooks and care staff appear friendly to both my parents and family. The grounds are a delight to walk round.

My parents have been cared for now for a few months. Nothing is too much trouble and myself and family are always made to feel at home. As we have young grand children the aviary and gardens are always popular to visit. We recently had a family birthday party in the 60's kitchen.
