I am confident that my mum is safe and cared for. We had to move her from her home quite quickly due to a rapid deterioration in her sight and increasing anxiety/disorientation. This was not an easy thing to do but the manager and staff went out of their way to help make this as smooth as possible.
Mum has not found it easy to adjust but any issue we have raised (such as lighting in the bathroom) has been taken on board and dealt with. The activities manager has tried to get mum involved and the music therapist has made a special arrangement to devote some 1 to 1 time with mum to tap into her music skills. There are one or two areas we think would make life less stressful for mum such as; care staff understanding problems caused by a lack of sight and adjusting how they respond to her needs (I have suggested that the sensory team would be able to offer some training in this) and a fully functioning chaplaincy service. I have found the majority of the staff to be friendly and helpful.

I cannot praise Avonleigh Gardens and the staff enough. Years ago my Dad was a resident there and the care and love he received was instrumental in our decision to put Mum in there 5 years ago (she's now 95 years old and very frail). The staff have treated Mum with care and respect and been so patient
with her (even though she would try the patience of a Saint at times!) They are also great at keeping us informed and up-to-date on how Mum is doing. The home is lovely and welcoming, very clean, the food is lovely and the residents are so well looked after. It's also a testament to the way the home is run that they have had very very few cases of COVID throughout the pandemic. The staff are all doing a great job and we would like to send them our thanks and appreciation from all the family.

I came to Avonleigh Gardens for respite after having a hip operation. I had no hesitation in choosing it as my husband had been a resident for a year and thoroughly enjoyed his stay. I have been extremely happy whilst staying here and found the staff very caring, thoughtful and friendly. I thank them

Although it was an emotional and upsetting time when my mum went into care, the staff at Avonleigh Gardens have been absolutely brilliant in helping my mum settle in, feel comfortable and relax in the friendly environment. They were also very reassuring to my family. During the Covid pandemic, we’ve
managed to communicate and see my mum via FaceTime and Avonleigh have been very obliging in helping us stay in touch. I’ve found the home very efficient on Covid regulations but still maintaining a caring and friendly attitude through these difficult times. I only have admiration for the home and staff. Fantastic team.

I have been particularly impressed with Avonleigh's handling of the coronavirus situation. The staff have been meticulous in following protocols to prevent spread and all the while caring for the residents and each other with compassion and good cheer. A positive atmosphere is one of the things that
make this such a good care home.

I brought my Mum to Avonleigh on a strong recommendation from a friend who had her Mother happily living there. We have never regretted our choice. Due to a series of illnesses and an unfortunate house fire she had spent quite some time in and out of care homes, none of which were comparable to Avonleigh.
She is allowed her independence, some of her own furniture and is safe, warm and cared for in every way. There is a wide spectrum of daily activities covering everything from Bingo/Cookery/Craftwork to visiting choirs. All residents are actively encouraged to participate. The staff do indeed deserve medals for all their kindness and outstanding care, the events co-ordinator I feel deserves a special shout out. She is tireless and amazing.
The COVID situation is handled sympathetically and visits by 2 family members allowed now.
The food is outstanding (my Mum can be quite picky, but she loves it). She is very happy and has made some lovely friends. This brings me peace of mind.

My nan has lived at Avonleigh Gardens for several years. The care and compassion she always receives is heartwarming, especially under these new Coronavirus rules. I've been able to have a garden visit and I know my nan is being cared for in an amazing way. Thank you, everyone at Avonleigh Gardens.
They are all amazing staff who go that extra mile in making my nan and others smile.

This home is absolutely amazing! The staff go above and beyond for the residents! My grandma is so happy and content! She has built some amazing friendships both with other residents and staff members! The activities they put on for the residents are excellent. The summer fairs and Christmas fairs are
really good for families to come along too.
I always come away feeling very blessed that my grandma is receiving so much love, support and care!

My Mum has been a resident at Avonleigh Gardens for nearly 2 years and I can truly say that she is extremely well cared for by the very professional and caring staff. She has severe mobility problems so requires a significant amount of assistance with all her personal care which is always provided with
respect and understanding.
I live many miles away from my Mum and I have been so grateful to know that during the COVID-19 pandemic my Mum has been in such a safe and clean environment and cared for so attentively. I have also been reassured by the frequent communication and news sent from the home.
My Mum enjoys her own company so is happy to read and watch TV in her light and spacious room but there are a huge number of activities for residents and their families to enjoy. The high-quality food is definitely a highlight and there is always a nice choice served in the attractive dining rooms. Much of the food is home-made including bread and pastries.
I highly recommend Avonleigh Gardens.

As soon as my mum went to live at Avonleigh Gardens, her health and mental well-being improved massively; she is happier and more relaxed than I have ever known her to be. This is because the carers are welcoming, kind and cheerful, and ready to help in any way they can. Everyone strives to make Avonleigh
Gardens homely.


Mum enjoys the outstanding food, which is both delicious and nutritious,


During the coronavirus pandemic, I am reassured by the measures that have been put in place to protect residents. The staff are working really hard, in very difficult circumstances to make the residents' experiences as positive as possible. The staff make it very easy for me to speak to my mum on the phone.

My mother-in-law would have been at Avonleigh Gardens (her 2nd home) 5 years in June. She came on leaps and bounds, she was treated with so much care, dignity and respect. She was always dressed smartly. She enjoyed having the banter with all the staff (there are a few special ones!) In her final few
weeks, it was really hard for us as a family because of the COVID 19 and lockdown but once again all the staff were brilliant and pulled all the stops out and we were able to her till the end, which we are eternally grateful. Thank you all so much from all mum's family.

All the staff and volunteers at Avonleigh are brilliant on a caring level, a professional level and a personal level.
They provide excellent care for the residents and go over and above what is expected of them. They have risen to this recent challenge (the lockdown situation with COVID) in meeting
for the needs of our loved ones. This is a very challenging job at times under normal situations but with the current lockdown they have been under tremendous pressure to do their job with extreme dedication and care and we are so grateful.
We equally understand the stress and pressure put onto your staff and volunteers at Avonleigh Gardens because not only have you taken the place of our loved ones' family you have equally got families of your own and loved ones just the same as us and I would like you to know how much we understand this and appreciate it. We are so very grateful to Avonleigh Gardens for the care shown to my father. Staff there have responded to all our requests with kindness and understanding. As Dad settled, lovely relationships were built with members of staff, the Chaplain and volunteers. He appreciated the various activities and
the interaction with others at those times. In particular, the weekly service has meant a lot to him. Dad has relished the quality of food, which has been consistently excellent. As lockdown happened, increased communication with families became a vital issue to sort and Avonleigh have sorted it. We are reassured by our daily contact with him.

One of the most impressive care homes I have visited. Great care is taken of the residents by the staff and it is apparent that all the staff know the residents well and respect their preferences and choices so long as they are in their best interests. Everyone goes the extra mile to do all they can
for the residents in their care. As the nation grapples with COVID-19 the staff at Avonleigh Gardens have the added burden of keeping themselves, the residents and their families safe and this has necessitated limiting visitors and the extra contact this involves with friends and relatives. They do this without us ever feeling we are ‘being a nuisance’. The staff are quite simply fantastic and we are just so grateful that our friend is able to be part of the Avonleigh family. Thank you.

During the recent COVID-19 pandemic and all the extra and challenging responsibilities which have fallen to the staff, they have shown wonderful sensitivity to the needs and concerns of families and friends who are unable to visit.
We are always greeted by friendly and understanding staff who are
doing their best to relieve our anxiety and assure us in any way they can. Whilst my father obviously is missing the camaraderie and activities he had begun to respond to so well, we know that these changes are designed with the safety of residents as a priority and are grateful for that.
Particularly helpful to us and I'm sure to him, are the video calls which are being facilitated and the playing of family messages recorded and played to Dad.
It must be so very hard for a caring staff to experience the worries and concerns both for their loved ones at home and also at Avonleigh Gardens. This is a level of professional and personal competence which we will always remember.

This home has been brilliant for my dad, particularly since the virus lockdown stopped actual visits. All the staff are really caring, and nothing seems too much trouble. They have been really helpful, facilitating phone and face time calls. Before the lockdown, there were lots of activities for residents
to enjoy which will hopefully get going again in due course.
