Avonleigh Gardens

I would not hesitate in recommending Avonleigh Gardens from management to cleaning staff they are a fantastic team.

On visiting my father I find all the staff without exception to be caring and helpful both to my father and myself. As I reside in Australia I telephone and speak with my father and staff on a weekly basis. The staff are empathetic. My father is now on end of life care and I can't praise the staff high enough. Thank you Avonleigh Gardens for caring.

My Mum was in Avonleigh Gardens for just over two years. The staff could not have been more caring, especially at the end to both my Mum, her family and visitors. The kitchen staff did their best to encourage her to eat and all her needs were met both socially and personally. She was happy and settled there, which was a great relief to me. We could visit any time and made welcome, given updates by staff even before she was ill.

The home now has a new and very experienced manager whom I met at an introductory meeting yesterday. Her long-term vision for the home is to make it the best it can be and I have every confidence she will achieve her goal. I know my mother is in safe, caring hands which is reassuring for me.

The staff and caring and very understanding of residents' needs and nothing is too much trouble for them either in the care of the residents or the support of the families. A wonderful home with equally wonderful caring staff.

Staff are kind and respectful to residents but my mum was often on her own in her bedroom for long hours. She couldn't remember where other rooms were. If I took her to the lounge, there would only be 4/5 people there and no one spoke to her. She did not receive regular bathing as she refused, (it was too much trouble for her but I think more pressure should be exerted). The day before she died, her fingernails were very long and filthy, so I cut them. My mother was totally blind and I don't think staff were used to dealing with this.

My mother, aged 97, thought Avonleigh was wonderful. Plenty of space, staff on hand when necessary, warm and comfortable. Meals really good especially breakfast choices. Staff very caring and helpful. They didn't 'talk down' to residents they were also very welcoming to the guests/visitors. Well done Avonleigh, Mum will be very happy to go there again anytime for respite care. The carers told her they would be very happy to see her again which in turn made her and myself very happy to know that.

The standard of care was excellent. All the staff couldn't do more to make you feel at home and that includes visitors and the volunteers were second to none. I cannot praise this care home enough. I have already recommended Avonleigh Gardens to everyone I know and I will always consider the staff as friends and if ever I need a care home it will be Avonleigh Gardens.

My mum stayed in Avonleigh Gardens for three weeks respite. During her stay, the staff have been very friendly and helpful. Her room was lovely, large and had a great adapted en-suite. The meals were very nice and Mum enjoyed the company of the people that she met. I would recommend Avonleigh Gardens in the future.

My dad has been a resident here for over 18 months, Dad is settled very well and this makes me so happy. He looks really well and is looked after like we wish our families to be. The care staff go that extra mile. I would defiantly recommend Avonleigh Gardens. Fantastic care home with amazing staff.

My friend was a lady in her late eighties when she entered Avonleigh Gardens. She was already suffering from Alzheimer's Disease which over four years she was a resident gradually got worse. At all times she was treated with great care and respect and made comfortable at the end of her life. At all times the staff were caring and compassionate and treated her with kindness and respect.

My sister has been in Avonleigh Gardens for 11 weeks for respite and I have found the place clean and tidy and the staff are very caring and always up for a laugh. My sister is very comfortable there.

The staff are very sensitive to her needs and are willing to oblige her.

Mum passed away in November. She was happy at the home and had lived there for nine years. I was happy with the service and she was treated with total care, dignity and respect from all the staff.

What I could not understand was nobody from the home came to her funeral. I had left a message with a care worker, but this must have been overlooked, I was very upset about this.

My mother in law has been a resident for 3.5 years until her death. We have observed staff responding with patience and respect to the different needs of residents. The staff learned our names and made us feel part of the family. As needs changed they consulted us and suggested ways to improve her quality of life.

Her room was comfortable, warm and clean. The staff cared for her personal hygiene and selection of clothes and her appearance. The food was well prepared and adapted to meet her needs. Regular meetings for relations were open to ideas for improving the care. Mother in law enjoyed the weekly worship with the chaplain and the activities provided by entertainment.

During the last weeks of her life, the staff ensured her comfort insisting on support from the GP and community nurses when needed.They put in extra resources for her and staffing to ensure the smooth running of the home whilst caring for our needs as we spent precious time with her.

I feel that the layout of the downstairs does not lend itself to being easily accessed from lounge to lounge for my Mother, who whilst ambulant, walks very slowly with a Zimmer frame. The corridors are long and all rooms lead on to the corridors which makes identification difficult again for my Mother who is registered blind and is 93yrs of age. The staff are very helpful and assist as well as they are able but due to the number of other residents with more pressing needs they are always fully occupied. My recommending it or not would depend on the capabilities of the prospective service user.

We are very grateful to all the staff and am sure that dads care is in good hands. I additionally find the home well run, clean and good at providing a mentally stimulating environment for older people.

I find the location and staff very efficient and provide excellent care for my relative, I have always been treated with courtesy on the occasions of my visits and the standard of care for my relative is considered to be completely satisfactory.

I would recommend Avonleigh to anyone looking for top quality care for their loved ones.

This care home provides excellent services for its residents. I have peace of mind knowing that my Dad is safe and lovingly cared for by people who take a genuine interest in his well-being and are helpful and approachable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Avonleigh Gardens to friends and family.

My mum has been a resident at the above care home for approximately 2 years and has received excellent care. We have been kept well informed of anything in connection with mum and her care. Excellent care, can't thank them enough.
