I came in for respite after a long stay in the hospital. I have been well looked after by all the staff. The activities provided much enjoyment and have played a big part in improving my mobility.

I should have met up with management before I came in. I knew nothing about it, not even how much they charge! Took a month to settle down, but very good staff encouraging me all the way.

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you hadn't had the opportunity to meet with the management prior to moving in the care home. But, since moving in you have met with the manager. It is unfortunate that the booking was made by your family and not yourself. It is nice to see that you are enjoying yourself, being in the company of others, and we are happy that you have extended your stay.

The patience and care of all the staff have made my stay here very pleasant. I have been confined to my room largely because of my immobility to walk easily, but the carers pop in and look after me always cheerfully.

My mother resided at Richmond Village Nantwich from June 2019 until she passed away in January 2023. She has a lovely room at Richard Village looking out onto gardens that were beautifully maintained. The care provided by the staff was exceptional and it was lovely to see the same carers still there from year to year. They all got to know my mum well and were very much in tune with what she needed. Despite my mum not being very positive about socialising and activities, the staff continued to gently encourage her to mix socially and try new things which she always enjoyed in the end. Mum enjoyed the fact that she could choose to eat in her room or in the dining room. Both her en-suite room and the entire building were kept immaculately clean and were beautifully furnished throughout. When Mum first moved to Richmond Village, she had some mobility issues and age-related memory loss. Towards the end of her stay, she was unable to leave her bed and sadly had dementia. Regardless of her health and abilities the care extended to her was wonderful and I am so glad that we chose Richmond Village.

I spent a month in respite here after having a difficult operation on a hip replacement this was February 2022 I went back to my home then had another difficult time, depression and a stroke when I ended up in hospital. Fortunately Richmond Care Home was able to offer me another space/room. I was in despair and the whole place with the wonderful staff offered me support, care, time for me to talk out the issues, good food, opportunities to share in with activities and learning to join in and move on to laugh and find joy in life. Thank you. You have all been such giving people, understanding and responding to my needs. I am ready to move on but want to stay as independent but within the caring family of Richmond. This is hope for a mid-80-year-old with a happy family without overwhelming my ageing demands

My 95-year-old father has been at Richmond Villages Nantwich for about six months now, having arrived to convalesce after a hospital stay following a broken hip, followed by Covid then pneumonia. The staff have been extremely supportive allowing him to settle in, then gradually encouraging him to participate in more activities as he grew stronger, more confident and recovered his health. He has complete trust in the levels of care and all the staff that he encounters at Nantwich. And as a keen cook and baker, he fully appreciates and welcomes the food that he receives. We regularly join Dad for lunch in the restaurant and the Bread and Butter pudding, in particular, is excellent!

My mother has suffered from sight loss recently and has been very confused and distressed.
All the staff have been absolutely wonderful with her showing endless kindness and patience and constant reassurance.

The staff have also liaised with me frequently and shown me the same kindness. I live 250 miles away so I can't be with my mum as much as I would like but the staff have kept me updated with Mum's care and have been available on the phone whenever I have wanted to talk to them.

Since losing Mum to suicide in January life has been extremely difficult for Dad, he is terminally ill with pulmonary fibrosis and relies on oxygen. Since moving into Richmond Villages Nanthwich Dad has been given so much care by such a lovely friendly team in beautiful surroundings. He'd previously lived in our family home for nearly fifty years with Mum and family. This was an easy move for any of us. We now feel six months on this is the best place with the best care! We as a family would highly recommend. Thank you to all who have cared for us.

I feel comfortable well looked after and safe. The surroundings are beautiful and I like to be able to see the general public. The activities are poor and they don't stimulate people or enhance people's skills. Especially people who have sensory deprivation such as hearing or sight impairment.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident at Richmond Villages until January 2022. On the numerous occasions we visited, we found the staff to be very knowledgeable, experienced, polite, caring and helpful, this was always supported by my mum in conversation. There's a full programme of events arranged to keep everyone busy and active and, most importantly, socialising. The home was always very accommodating to special requests, an example is when I asked could I arrange a meal/party to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. They offered me the use of the main restaurant dining area and were quite happy for me to bring in a meal from the local fish and chip shop, her favourite treat. One important thing I observed during the four years my mum was a resident was a very low staff turnover, this provided her with a stable care environment delivered by familiar faces, aspects that definitely helped to reassure her.

After injuring my back/spine in a fall I spent 15 days in hospital. As I live alone I decided that a short period of rehabilitation at Richmond would be beneficial in adapting and regaining confidence. It has worked well for me. I found the staff extremely friendly, cheerful, caring and ready to help. The atmosphere was positive and the surroundings conducive to a good recovery. The food was very satisfactory and my room was comfortable and generally well-appointed. Altogether, I am sure the time at Richmond has benefited me greatly.

My brother and I can't praise and thank the staff at Richmond Village Nantwich enough for the huge amount of care and support they have given to us and our elderly mother and father. We needed a quick response to place our mother in care when our father was hospitalised. Our mother has really benefitted from the care and love she has received and she's laughing and smiling again. We then had to find a place for my father, when he was discharged from hospital and Richmond Village worked really hard for us to get my father into the same home so our parents could be together to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary. We can't thank you enough for the care, support and advice you have given to us at what has been a stressful time for our family.

Richmond Village is a very well established multi-faceted care village, which offers independent living - which Mum did not experience - supported or assisted living, which gave Mum the self-confidence to live at home easily whilst still doing many of the things that she used to and care.
From day one, Mum felt at home at Richmond Village, in part because of the feel of the place, in part by the ability to live independently whilst still being able to socialise with other residents and in part due to the staff.
The staff throughout were always friendly, knowledgeable and genuine - always pleased to see Mum or help her live as independently with an appropriate level of support as possible. Nothing was too much trouble or could not be done.

Latterly, the move from independent living to care was seamless and Richmond delivered on all their promises when Mum first moved in and she was supported and looked after in a really dignified and caring way, throughout.

Richmond Village, Nantwich is the gold standard of Care Homes. Yes, it's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for. This I have especially seen during the Covid-19 outbreak where the love and care of the Residents have been outstanding. Richmond Village has ensured that during the lockdown all families and residents have been able to keep in touch via video link, email, Facebook etc., plus have been sending out regular letters to families keeping us up to date about what's happening regarding testing, entertainment and other news. They have also ensured that if I need to contact them to ask anything at all, there are open channels of communication at all times.
Richmond Village is a safe and happy environment, and I hate to think what the situation would have been like if this had all happened a year ago when they were still independent living - especially as I live 200 miles away.

Thank you to the team at Richmond Village for being the best at what you do.

Reply from Nicola Jackson, Senior Village Adviser at Richmond Villages Nantwich

Thank you so very much for this lovely review Samantha; your words mean such a lot to us and will be shared with every single member of the village team.
