Beechcroft Care Home

I would just like to congratulate the kitchen staff on Christmas Day. The dinner was 1st class and nothing was too much trouble. Well done, you're a credit to the home.

More stimulation is needed for residents.

The only problem is staffing levels, everybody is always very busy.

This care home is trying hard to do what it is supposed to do. However, certain things let it down. Staff need to be chosen better. More experienced, mature staff would be more suitable.

2, Antibiotics that are very important for dad have still not been delivered, the prescription of these was sent to the wrong pharmacy, which tried to deliver them to dads home address. (A mix up since dad has been in respite care since end of July).

Staff always pop in and say hello when they see me visiting and keep me up to date with things Dad needs.

Very good regarding staff shortages. Food very good.

I bring my neighbour to see her husband as she has no transport of her own. The staff are helpful, offer her a meal when she comes and I can help myself to tea. Her husband can be awkward at times, but the staff just take it in their stride.

My wife is a resident for more than 3 1/2 years. Well satisfied with care here.

It is dressed frequently but I wonder if the carers need to be more careful when taking residents in and out of the wheelchair as I think this is where these wounds are from.

After several issues, review meetings took place and issues are improving. The care plan has been updated. Work in progress is being monitored regularly.

Staff are kind, caring, work hard and for the most dedicated however rushed to provide support because of insufficient staffing numbers at crucial times of the day. Management is unreceptive and doesn't appear to allocate sufficient resources to meet increasing demands, leaving staff spread too thinly to carry out all tasks. Levels of care needs should be reassessed to see if all residents are suitably placed as there appears to be several with EMI needs - it is not an EMI home. Home is tired, needs rooms upgrading, carpets need replacing. Frequently smells. Facilities for residents and families - not sure how to answer as not sure what that means. Activity coordinator excellent - highly thought of by residents, very interactive with them. Have put satisfactory because there are not enough resources, including activity staffing hours to fulfil needs. Overall staff work tirelessly and are dedicated, treating residents with dignity. Care staff, domestics and kitchen staff alike under very difficult circumstances at times. My family member is happy in the home, loves the staff, is supportive of them. I see a deterioration, especially over the last six months.

The home is very good. The girls work very hard. The food is very good too.

I am so pleased with the care and attention my aunt has received, the staff are so pleasant it is refreshing to go into Beechcroft you are always greeted with a smile. The care has been excellent treating people with respect and dignity, the improvement in my aunt has been amazing.

My aunt had been in hospital for about a year and her condition had deteriorated significantly. She was reluctant to eat, drink or take medication and was uncooperative with the nurses. It was clear that she was both unsettled and unhappy and lost interest in radio, TV and reading. She received little stimulation or encouragement. Within a few days of arriving at Beechcroft Care Home all of this started to change for the better! The caring and involved staff encouraged her relentlessly and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Every situation was handled calmly and with the active participation of the staff she has now regained an amazing amount of ground. We are so happy to see the aunt we know now return to us!

My wife has been a resident in Beechcroft Nursing home since 14th May 2015 and the care she has received has been such that her health has improved 100%.

My husband is currently being looked after on the nursing side of the home he's been in there since October 2015.

All the staff are all very friendly and helpful from the nurses, carers, catering, domestic and co-ordinator.

I feel I can always approach the nurses and carers if I have any problems or concerns. The carers always show a lot of care and dignity when assisting my husband. The nurses are always there if I need to talk or I am feeling upset when my husband is not having a good day.

Satisfactory.

All services including toilet and laundry facilities are provided. Meals are served morning, lunchtime and during the day. Although smoking is not allowed there is a room to smoke for smokers.

Well cared for.
