However, it has been frustrating and upsetting during the pandemic not being able to have face to face visits (we have regular video chats). I look forward to visits being allowed by the home, especially as my mum is above ground floor and bed bound and therefore window visits would be very difficult.
They have been very supportive of what mine and my uncle's circumstances have been and knowing he is looked after 24/7 and he doesn't have to worry about anything is a great comfort. Magnolia House have been exemplary in their conduct and dealing with the Covid19 virus. Always with the residents best interests at the centre of every decision made, trying to keep residents safe. Social media posts show the activities within Magnolia HOuse and it's nice to see the staff engaging with all the residents and having fun.
I have only had 1 visit since my mum's admission and did not enter the home due to COVID restrictions, hence I am unable to rate some of the areas asked. I can only say that my mum looked lovely, stress-free and happy. Something that I have not seen in her for the last few years, it gives me so much peace of mind knowing she is settled. Amazing hard work by all staff!
The staff are always cheerful and respectful to residents, still trying to create activities within the home to entertain everyone in a covid safe way.
My 96 year old auntie has been in Magnolia House for 9 years now, we have always found it to be a very welcoming, extremely well run care home. The staff are always very caring and my aunt us really happy and content staying there.
My mum has been a resident at Magnolia House for 18 months, she is always treated with care and respect. Although we have only been able to have window visits for the last year due to covid restrictions, the staff have always been very accommodating. Mum had a spell in hospital last year in May, obviously no visiting in the hospital either. Magnolia House were kept involved in the situation all the time and made covid safe arrangements for her to be able to return safely to Magnolia. Mum is always happy and gets on well with all the staff and carers. I would highly recommend this care home and count myself lucky that they had capacity when Mum was no longer able to look after herself or with carers in her own home due to Alzheimer’s. Thank you to all the staff at Magnolia House, you’re doing a great job, especially under these very difficult times for everyone.
As a family we were reluctant to put our Mum into a care home. Sadly her illness and day to day needs became unmanageable and we decided on Magnolia House. We have been more than happy with the care and attention she has received and despite the restrictions of Covid 19, we have had window visits and video calls to keep in touch. Mum seems happy and settled, is always immaculately dressed and well-nourished. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are kind and sensitive to all her needs.
I thought Magnolia House dealt very well with the Covid19 Pandemic.
I found my mum's care to be above and beyond. She was extremely well looked after. The staff are fantastic and we know she was well-loved. Mum was previously struggling at home and very anxious but all this went when she came to Magnolia. She felt that it was her home and we were more than happy with the way she was treated. They are always pleasant and friendly and it shows with other residents there too. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. Thank you all so much for continued support, it has meant so much.
The staff was friendly and caring, as well as the building being a very homely and welcoming place to live. The other residents have a good community which is easy to integrate into and make new friends. We were pleased with the services provided to our great grandmother as she seemed fairly happy in her six and a half years of residence at Magnolia House.
Staff had always been supportive/attentive of service user. They were considerate of need. The room was always clean and tidy. As visitors, we were treated well. Everyone was always friendly.
My grandmother was looked after in this home for over 7 years. She was well looked after particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. This care home had no cases of coronavirus which we were all very grateful for.
A very caring home where the residents are given lots of TLC!
I often volunteer to help out at the Summer events and parties. The events are always fun for the residents and their families, and I look forward to a time when I will be able to return to help with these events. The premises are safe and secure. I have occasionally brought in my dog for the residents to see and have cuddles with. The residents always look happy and always enjoy the events and activities that are being held. Magnolia House is clean and tidy, and the gardens are beautiful. I have always found that the staff are friendly, professional, polite and helpful.
During COVID, the care home and staff gave my father the best care, for which I am very very thankful. I wish to thank the manager and all of the staff who cared and supported my father. A shame, due to COVID, that my dad and others did not get to enjoy the activities the care home offers.
Magnolia House has looked after my Grandma for a number of years. She is not far off turning 100. Having lost my own mum in her 40's, my Grandma is extra special to our famìly and she's always been there for us. We don't live in Hull so it's important for us to know Grandma is safe and well cared for. Magnolia House went the extra mile to bring Grandma home from hospital after a chest infection a couple of years ago when the hospital had given up on her. They gave her TLC and brought her back to us when the medics had thought this was not possible. During lockdown we have been delighted with the service from one of the ladies who has helped one of us to video call Grandma each week, translating our conversations when Grandma cannot hear us. Staff have gone out of their way to not only look after residents but also entertain them whilst relatives cannot visit inside the home. This has given us peace of mind that Grandma is safe. Thank you to all the staff for giving your all at such a difficult time.
My overall experience is very good. The staff are caring, efficient and helpful as is the management. The facilities, food and rooms are good. I feel my mother is treated with kindness and dignity at all times. All the staff have been excellent and gone the extra mile in these difficult times of Covid-19. An excellent care home.
My sister suffered a major stroke leaving her wheelchair-bound and only use in one arm. However, her brain was not affected. The high level of care required was excellent - because she needed people to talk to, the staff also became her friends. Activities were varied and in spite of the logistical difficulties, staff took her to the theatre, cinema, shops and places of interest. From my visits, I was able to witness the care and dignity shown to her, whilst staff were under constant pressure from the calls for assistance from other occupants. I am so pleased she spent these last few years at Magnolia House - with family unable to visit due to COVID-19 she at least passed away with friends at her side. A very caring and lovely home.
I have been very touched by the professionalism and devotion the carers have given during these very traumatic times. They have come together and worked as a team supporting the residents and each other. I am sure that they have discovered qualities that they didn't know they possess. It has made my life easier knowing that Mum has this caring support whilst I am unable to visit.
It was a very difficult decision to have to make, but the right one for Mum. Magnolia House has been the best decision we have made. She is well cared for and even through these difficult times when we have not been able to visit in person, they have enabled us to maintain contact and ensure that we can keep in touch and see mum on Face time, which we are so grateful for. Super clean, friendly and relaxed - definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for the right ‘home from home’ for their loved ones.

Meet the Team (1)

Lindsay is one of life’s all-rounders! She began life with Park Lane Healthcare working in the accounts department, handling all the residents’ families’ queries, fee payments, bills we had to pay and a myriad of other things too. She even used to organise all our special award days that our top performing staff receive for their efforts, many of which go way beyond the call of duty. If all of this was not enough, in her own time she studied at Lincoln University and gained a degree in social work, such was her calling for looking after the elderly and vulnerable in society. All of this led to her joining our regional team, ensuring our homes were compliant in all aspects of care delivery and it seemed the most natural thing in the world to place her as manager at Magnolia House when the position became vacant. Although a large home and with its large challenges, Lindsay works tremendously hard at all times to ensure that every resident feels that little bit special.
