Review of Moorgate Lodge from Ruth B (Sister of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I came to a meeting about changes and improvements to communal areas of the home. The manager explained things thoroughly and clearly, including health and safety procedures which will be in place during the work. I have visited many homes and I am continuously impressed by the staff and the quality of care given to my brother, and also to the standard of decoration and communal facilities in the home. Far better than most.

Reply from Sandra Hustwick, Director of Quality at Moorgate Lodge

Thank you for your kind words. I am so pleased that you found the meeting helpful and informative. The improvements to the ground floor are in progress. It will make a huge difference and we are hoping it is not too disruptive.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I cannot praise the staff at Moorgate Hollow enough! My mum has only been a resident a few months but from the moment I walked in, I felt such relief as I knew within seconds that she would be well cared for and I would not be spending my days worrying about whether she was happy and safe. Since she has been there, she has been on trips out, including the seaside this week, and has even been out on a one-to-one basis with the manager. There are so many activities for residents within a homely environment which is exceptionally clean and welcoming. My mother has put on weight and is no longer showing signs of agitation, which she previously exhibited. Moorgate Hollow has given me peace of mind and has given my mum a place where she is respected and treated as an individual. I cannot praise the manager and staff enough.

Although my mum's stay in Moorgate Lodge unfortunately lasted less than 3 weeks, the care and compassion afforded to her by all the members of staff was wonderful. The care manager operates an open-door policy, which we found reassuring. From day 1, she ensured mum's wishes were adhered to. All she required was to be kept 'clean, comfortable and quiet, and she was. The members of staff were always on hand with offers of tea and coffee, and even the occasional hug when required! Thank you all

Review of The Hall Residential Care Home from H B (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum moved into The Hall recently. Moving into a care setting from her own home was difficult for her but all the staff have been incredibly friendly and supportive during the transition process. Mum is enjoying the range of activities available. She is also enjoying the food. The staff are extremely professional and seem to be very knowledgeable and have intervened very promptly when my Mum was unwell getting the GP to see her very quickly. Overall the difficult transition into residential care has been relatively smooth and I have confidence in the team's ability to provide good care for my Mum.

Review of Croston Park Nursing Home from Scott W (Son of Resident) published on 9 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Due to a broken arm, I had to source respite care for my mother whilst preparing her to go home. I found Croston Park the most suitable for her after visiting a couple of others in the local area. I found from my first appointment with them a very friendly and caring atmosphere, staff who go above and beyond for each resident. Any challenges that I had regarding my mother during her stay, were quickly communicated to me and at no stage did I feel like I had to drop everything and go and resolve, this was a massive weight off my shoulders and the care home allowed me the time to source the aftercare in the correct manner. Up to the point of me taking her back home, I simply, cannot fault Croston Park. Thank you to all members of staff for your efforts, it is greatly appreciated.

Our lives changed suddenly 10 weeks ago when my brother died. He was mum's full time carer so I was thrown into organising a funeral, looking after mum, and sorting a new care situation for her (I live 3hrs away). I found The Hall, and thank god I did. From my first phone call I knew this was the place for mum. They gave me the best support whilst negotiating a place and helped every step of the way (and it was not easy). Mum has settled quickly due to the fantastic, caring staff and is as happy as she can be. I know she is safe and well looked after. Truely amazing.

My mum in law has been living in Magnolia House for 6 months now

She has become very settled and happy to be there . In turn my wife is also reassured because her mum is safe and cared for. Every member of staff is kind and helpful. When we drop off and pick up they are always happy to see us and have a friendly chat. She is very well looked after and is encouraged to do things for herself with a little help. It is a really great place.

Review of Moorgate Hollow from J F (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 May 2026 Submitted via Website

I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional care my mum receives at Moorgate Hollow. The staff are consistently kind, patient and attentive, creating a safe and genuinely caring environment for her every day.
I want to especially praise the manager, whose dedication and compassion set the tone for the whole home. When Mum was recently admitted to hospital, the manager went above and beyond in every possible way - supporting Mum, staying closely involved in her care and keeping me informed. At a time that was incredibly stressful, their support made an enormous difference.

Knowing that Mum is cared for by people who genuinely care about her wellbeing brings immense peace of mind. Moorgate Hollow is outstanding and I couldn't be more thankful for everything the manager and her team do every single day.

Review of Moorgate Hollow from M G (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Moorgate Hollow is a wonderful place and Mum has been happy since she became a resident three years ago. As you enter the home, ALL the staff are friendly and welcoming. They are genuine, caring, respectful, kind and empathetic. Mum was taken to hospital with a chest infection. The reassuring, clear communication from the manager was impeccable. Mum was visited by staff whilst in hospital because they cared about her health and well-being. She loved seeing their familiar faces as hospitals can be distressing environments for a dementia patient. The Manager is incredible. It is clear that she has a dedicated and compassionate leadership style which has created a warm and welcoming environment for residents, their families and staff. She has redesigned many areas of the home, creating cohesive multifunctional spaces. Mum feel safe, enjoys the varied activities, themed musical events in the Nightingale bar (whilst drinking a malibu) days out, the in-house hair salon and the good food.

Carers and management take all the time needed to make mum feel safe and secure. They notice small changes in mum's abilities as her illness progresses, and implement strategies to assist her more as needed. When a hospital appointment was organised, the staff didn't hesitate to arrange transport etc so everything could run smoothly. Thank you.
