Moorgate Lodge

Mum (Andrea) was admitted following a severe stroke & a period in hospital. She was severely disabled by the stroke & largely bed bound. Mum's care was very good - she was always clean, well dressed and very regularly turned to make her comfortable While she was never happy with her situation we felt she was well cared for. Any issues brought to light were dealt with promptly.

Our sister spent her last few weeks on end of life care in Moorgate Lodge. She passed away peacefully on 12 August 2026 in a comfortable, airy room and couldn't have been better cared for. One particular thing we noticed was the softness of the sheets which added to our sister's comfort. That might seem like a small thing but so thoughtful and important. The staff were very caring and attended to her needs constantly. We were not short of offers of hot drinks. We would like to give a special mention to Catherine who answered my questions fully and with consideration, and also to the Staff Nurse (sorry, I didn't get her name) on duty on the evening and night of August 12, who also spoke to me with consideration. She was there with a big hug for my brother when he went after our sister's passing. I would recommend Moorgate Lodge to anyone looking for the best care for their loved ones.

I came to a meeting about changes and improvements to communal areas of the home. The manager explained things thoroughly and clearly, including health and safety procedures which will be in place during the work. I have visited many homes and I am continuously impressed by the staff and the quality of care given to my brother, and also to the standard of decoration and communal facilities in the home. Far better than most.

Although my mum's stay in Moorgate Lodge unfortunately lasted less than 3 weeks, the care and compassion afforded to her by all the members of staff was wonderful. The care manager operates an open-door policy, which we found reassuring. From day 1, she ensured mum's wishes were adhered to. All she required was to be kept 'clean, comfortable and quiet, and she was. The members of staff were always on hand with offers of tea and coffee, and even the occasional hug when required! My partner has been here since November 2025, he's really happy in here. Overall, I'm so grateful to all staff on his floor. I can go home after a visit and be really satisfied he is looked after properly. He's gained weight, which is a good thing. There is nothing negative I can say about this care home.

My mother-in-law Pauline has been in Moorgate for 17 months. All the staff at the home are so friendly and caring, especially Zara on reception who is the first face you see. Lisa who does activities is brilliant, they always have time to have a quick chat and update us on Pauline and what she has been doing. Would recommend Moorgate to anyone.

Mum has now been in Moorgate for 7 months. She has never been as well both physically and mentally. She has been encouraged to participate in many activities and has really enjoyed joining in. The care has been amazing, and activities are really varied as there is always stimulation. She has a good appetite and enjoys most of the food. The friendship, love and care she has been shown is amazing. As a close family, we are really happy to see that she's looked after as we would as a family. Thank you.

We can't thank the staff enough here for the care they give my mum. We are so grateful for everything everyone does. The entertainment ladies are amazing and often get my mum up dancing. Everyone works so hard. The activities and entertainment are brilliant and make the place fun. I would love to live here when I am unable to care for myself.

The care my friend received at Moorgate Lodge was exceptional. You provided her with a safe space where she could spend her last few weeks in peace surrounded by staff who genuinely cared about her. The carers, nurses, managers, in fact everyone, went above and beyond to look after my friend. I shall be eternally grateful to them all for showing my dearest friend love and compassion at the end of her life.

Please do not place your loved ones in this Nursing Home.

Stimulus is non existent too for the residents. Absolutely nothing to do in this place for the residents. All you see the poor residents do is sit or lay in their rooms. This place is literally soleless.

I would not trust management in this place. It appears all about money not patient centred care. Please avoid at all costs.

My mother in Law was looked after extremely well for her end of life care. The staff were professional and very caring. Other relatives we met included nurses who again praised the home and its staff very highly. The food there is also worth a mention. It is made by a chef and is delicious.

My mum has only been here a week but already we feel part of the family. Staff are so nice and helpful and the home is lovely and clean and homely.

My mum was at this nursing home for the last 3 months of her life. It was a difficult decision and stressful choosing the right home. We chose Moorgate Lodge and never regretted it. The care and love and professionalism was second to none. They not only looked after mum, they looked after us too. An awful time in our lives was made better thanks to these lovely staff and friends. Thank you- my love to all.

my mom needed end of life care and we were fortunate to find Moorgate Lodge. The manager was so loving and caring from our first meeting. The whole team were fantastic ensuring ensuring mums room suited her individual needs, and her care was second to none. Evaluated on a daily basis to ensure she got the best out of her remaining time. We were treat like family by everyone and kept fully upto date. Mums passing was very peaceful, she was painfree and calm. An amazing Home / Team. Special thanks to the manager and the team.
