With a team who are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, Cedar Court provides residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care. They also provide rehabilitation and pre-bookable respite care breaks.

The home is very much at the heart of the local community. School children often pop in to take part in activities and singing. There is regular entertainment from singers, musicians and choirs, and the local church run regular services for the residents. And there are trips out in the home’s minibus, from pub lunches to garden centres and shopping.

There are so many activities to enjoy, from pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages to animal visits, with everything from snakes and tortoises to rabbits and dogs. And a stone’s throw from the coast, residents often enjoy walks along the harbour.

The home has lots of bright and airy spaces to enjoy, from the lounges, where residents enjoy activities and spending time with loved ones, to the dining rooms, where they enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by the chef. From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites such as home-made soups and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

The residents love to get involved in ‘foody’ activities, baking and cake decoration, making pizzas and pies. And there is always a special menu for special occasions, from afternoon tea to themed nights.

Loved ones, who are welcome at any time, are embraced into life at Cedar Court. There are regular relatives’ meetings and a private family and friends Facebook page, where relatives can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

The gardens are wonderful, with wheelchair friendly pathways and raised beds, for residents who enjoy gardening.

Cedar Court also has a beautiful hair salon, for weekly appointments with the mobile hairdresser.

We had the pleasure to experience the high level of care and professionalism of this care home. My Mam was looked after in this home for a short time, sadly she passed away. As a family we had the pleasure of interacting with the staff, watching them interacting with other residents in a friendly, happy,
professional way.
From day one my mam was treated with respect and dignity, staff were never rushed or giving any vibes they were too busy to tend to the slightest of needs.Cedar court has a friendly, homely feeling, family can relax in the knowledge they are being looked after and cared for as if it were their family doing the caring. The manager has an open door policy and has time to listen to any concerns or questions we may have had.
Anyone considering using the services of Cedar Court, i would without hesitating recommend them 100%
Thank you for the care given to my mam in her final days and the peace of mind you gave me caring for her. Thank you from me and my family.

The staff went above and beyond expectations over the Christmas period. My dad was so happy in this great environment. Staff have shown true care and empathy throughout. My dad is settled in the home and has been there almost one year. My family are relaxed and happy to know he is receiving great support,
but also shown kindness and fun. All residents on his unit seem so happy and content. Which to me, proves they are all receiving the care they deserve.

Dad has been made to feel very welcome, it's a bit daunting for him, and others leaving their house to live here, but the care staff and management are all very relatable and dad will settle in nicely I feel.
Nice clean rooms, home made food, and for me, I feel he is safe, warm, and better being well
cared for.
Thank you all.

Had my sister in Cedar Court for respite care after a nasty fall from first entering the home the love and care she received were second to none, the staff were brilliant, and soon she settled into her own room. The care she received from then on to leaving was unbelievable. The home is nice and clean
and spacious and does not smell like other homes, the meals are very good with plenty of variety it even has its own laundry service
So if someone is thinking of placing their loved ones into a home I highly recommend Cedar Court Residential Nursing Home Seaham.

What a wonderful facility. I was originally worried about my great-aunt settling in, but she absolutely loves it. The staff are amazing. The facilities are clean. I couldn't wish for anything better for my great-aunt. The lovely manager put us both at ease with her kindness and compassion. My great

After my Mother received excellent care for her time to heal and respite care in 2023, I opted for Cedar Court upon my discharge from the hospital. I have been very well cared for. The staff in particular have been excellent. I have felt valued, respected, and cared for in every way. Cedar Court is
a warm and friendly home and staff are respectful and professional. The food is very good and adequate and my room and facilities are very comfortable.

My mum is now well-established into Cedar Court, at first she found it difficult to adapt, but after the care and support of all the staff she is much more settled. Mum has never been much of a mixer, she's always been happy on her own, but the team have now integrated her into the day room which keeps
her active.
There always something going on, and it's great to see photos of Mum on social media which I can then share with my brother.
Thanks again for taking such good care of her.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.507)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.507) out of 10 for Cedar Court Residential & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.507 for Cedar Court Residential & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (356 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (43 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 428 Ratings = 4.507
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar Court Residential & Nursing Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
