Abbotsleigh Mews is a purpose-built care home, welcoming those in need of nursing, residential and dementia care.
Short stay, convalescence and palliative care also available.

The home is arranged into different houses for different types of care and is surrounded by beautiful landscaped grounds. Residents also have a choice of lounge and dining areas, a sensory room and activities rooms.

Registered nurses and well-trained care assistants know that it's important to create a friendly atmosphere at the home, giving all residents as much independence as possible, while also making sure that they have all the care and help they require.

Residents are served nutritious meals that are tailored to individual diet plans. Afternoon tea and fresh fruit platters are popular, as are homemade cakes.

A versatile activities programme aims to help residents maintain their independence as long as possible. Residents can enjoy a wide range of hobbies, coffee mornings, outings, music and other games, arts and crafts as well as weekly visits from the neighbouring nursery and part of an ongoing initiative to help bring old and young people together.

Have always found the staff from management to nurses and cares extremely helpful and co-operative. The staff have been cheerful, truly professional and competent, and have often gone beyond the call of duty. The premises are well cared for and bright and cheery. I am deeply satisfied with the care,
help and attention are given to my dear wife, even in the past two years at the home. Even with the trying and difficult times experienced throughout the period of covid-19, the staff at all levels have performed extremely well and keeping me informed at all times as required.

Our mum has been at Abbotsleigh Mews since February 2020. She resides in Macmillan House, the nursing house. She needs 24/7 nursing care due to a huge stroke during an unexpected heart operation in January 2018.
She moved from a private and much more expensive home in Erith. We weren't happy at all
with that private home.
Since Covid, the staff have had to deal with very difficult circumstances all round. They still always answer calls and emails immediately. They have done a great job in helping us stay in contact with our mum despite the tricky situation.
We were concerned that our mum was spending too much time in bed. When we spoke to staff, it transpired that our mum was saying she preferred that. However, with gentle encouragement from the lovely carers, she now is spending more time in the Lounge and joining in home life as best she can.
We feel our mum is in a caring and safe home.

Mum has been in Abbotsleigh for four months. The care she has been shown is brilliant. When they can, they arrange activities, and the peace of mind for us is just wonderful. She loves the food and the carers.

My parents both moved into Abbotsleigh Mews in late July after discussions with a palliative care nurse who suggested that a care home would be the best place for them both. My father had terminal cancer and my mother has Alzheimer's. We had visited Abbotsleigh Mews last year and were impressed by
what we saw, so contacted them.


My father was extremely well cared for in his last weeks which my family and I will always be grateful for. My mother is happy and content and well cared for by all the staff, especially during these difficult times we are all experiencing with Covid.

My mother has been at Abbotsleigh Mews for seven years, first in Smythe and now in Berens. All the staff have always shown her and the family respect, care and affection, they are all truly dedicated professionals. I don't live close by and am so happy that my mother is in safe and experienced hands.

I have nothing but praise and admiration for the dedication of all the staff and the great care and love they give my wife and other residents in Calvin House and other parts of Abbotsleigh. I am particularly grateful for what they have done for residents, despite the personal risks they have faced,
and for their concern and support for relatives and friends of residents during the stressful period of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abbotsleigh has been an excellent care home for my mother-in-law where she stayed for 7-months since 2019.
The care and attention have been second to none and have always felt that she was treated as if she was their own mother.
All of the staff have shown concern and real care.
The cleaners were
polite, friendly and always respected the resident's privacy and maintained the rooms and common areas to a very high standard of hygiene.
The tea ladies were very friendly and managed to brighten the day for residents and visitors alike. There were always homemade cakes available, and they always made time to chat and make sure you were alright.
The main caring staff paid great attention to everyone, and ensured that all medications were taken properly, residents were helped as much as they wanted or needed with dressing and washing. Any problems were reported immediately to the family who was involved in agreeing with the best action to take.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abbotsleigh.

We can't thank the staff enough for the outstanding care and kindness you showed to my husband over the last ten months. Each staff member went over and above in helping him to settle in. They were patient, kind and compassionate, respectful at all times and they showed genuine love for him. I would

My mother-in-law has been a resident since August 2018, but deteriorated rapidly over the last few weeks. The staff have been very good during this period when my mother-in-law started to refuse food and drink; they tried everything to persuade her to eat and drink, but to no avail. My mother-in-law
was difficult to manage at times, but we cannot speak highly enough about the standard of care and attention she received, particularly over the last few weeks, until her passing.

All the staff at Abbotsleigh Mews are kind and caring. They have gone out of their way to make sure that my, nearly 95 year old, father settles in well to the home and feels safe and happy. I find room too small, although ensuite much smaller than other homes that I have stayed in. (I cannot walk). Not much space for clothes or for personal items on bedside drawers. No room for bookshelves apart from small beside case on bedside drawers or for DVD player. Breakfast very good, cereals and
cooked items, eggs, bacon, sausages, toasted cheese (which I like particularly). Lunches not to my liking and lack variety. Staff, from manager down excellent, very friendly and helpful.

I'm very happy with mum's care. I've never been aware of anything to raise any concerns. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Mum seems happy. That's good. I can leave her happy knowing that she is in very good hands.

The carers in Smythe House are extremely professional. They genuinely care for my father and go the extra mile to make his time here happy.

The staff always have a smile on their face and nothing is too much trouble. There are many activities for the residents and families to join in if they wish to do so! The home is kept clean and consistently decorated for special occasions I.e Valentine's/Easter - It always looks colourful and welcoming.

My mother was terminally sick.
She received the best possible care from the wonderful staff of McMillan House led by the fantastic sister.
The compassionate care my mother received made our last few months with Mum more bearable for us, her family.

My mother was happy in the home. She was safe and well cared for. The activity organiser got her to partake and go to the lounge every day. The gardens are spectacular and she often enjoyed an afternoon out there in the sunshine with a cup of tea. There was never any 'old people's home' smell about
the place, although her room needed an update.

My mother is currently spending some respite time at Abbotsleigh Mews following a broken ankle. She is 86 and incredibly active usually. Our biggest concerns were for her health and social needs. We really need not have worried, the nursing staff are 100% professional and dedicated and the events manager
arranges bespoke activities each day. From the moment we made contact with Abbotsleigh Mews, my mother's recovery began. In the short time she has been there, all of her fears of ever having to reside in a care home, no longer exist. All of the staff have gone that extra mile to make my mother comfortable, relaxed and happy. Thank you very much.

Always greeted warmly and professionally by all staff on arrival. Facilities always give a good impression. Caregivers are excellent and their patience never ending. My view is that they have an excellent role model and influence from the manager.
The facility is secure and safe for residents.

On visiting, I found the staff very welcoming, all with smiling faces. The preparation leading up to Christmas was great. Lots of decorations etc. There is always plenty of staff around and they really seem to care about the health and welfare of the residents. You feel a sense of care and interest
in the welfare of every resident.

When referring our father to Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home. I already knew it was rated highly through official reports and also had a personal recommendation to it.
It proved to be all of those good things and more. Our dad was very happy there. He received excellent care, love and support. He was treated
respectfully and at the end with dignity. My brother and I can't thank the staff enough for caring and supporting our dad. Thank you
