From the experience I've had visiting other nursing homes from what I have seen when I visit Ashbrook. They are hard to beat.

Bonnie is my sister-in-law and I could not wish better that could follow the love and care of her husband john.

My dad is so happy and very well looked after. It is very obvious the great bond he has built up with the care staff. Every time I come to visit Dad he is in great spirits.

It is always very enjoyable to come and visit, the staff are very welcoming and treat the residents with kindness and respect. It's clean, bright, and there's always a happy atmosphere. The staff go out of their way to make sure the residents have everything they need and they are always ready with a smile.

My friend has been in for some time now, overall, the care she gets is good. I know the staff are pushed to the limit in the way of "not enough staff". All the staff are friendly and polite, and most of them get on well with the residents. The only thing I would change, and I appreciate it is difficult, but I do believe more staff is needed.

The management team were excellent, helping with the process of getting my Dad into Ashbrook. All the staff are very welcoming. Dad prefers Ashbrook to his previous home. Hyacinth and Aneta are very helpful and cheery. Heidi is always welcoming at reception.

My then 81 year old mum was submitted in Feb. When I visited a few days later to my horror I found mum with a horrendous black eye and half her face and head completely bruised. Nobody from the home knew what had happened or how mum sustained her injuries. They hadn't informed the family of an incident or called an ambulance. Totally appalling. The manager couldn't shed any light and quickly told me and my brother mum was not welcome due to our reaction. We naturally reacted how anyone would. So mum was homeless. I insisted an ambulance was called. Mum was taken to the hospital that day. She could walk then but quickly lost that ability in the hospital. Over 5 months later the family are still waiting for answers. The home has still not provided their report. I would strongly advise caution when putting a loved one in this place. Something happened to my mum. It seems like the home do not want anyone to know the truth. Please take note of this and stay clear. It has ruined mum's life.

Unfortunately the experience of my mum was poor and not recommended. I don't' write reviews often.

My mum came here from hospital to free a hospital bed. I was in the process of moving her nearer to my family. She was only a resident for 3 weeks. Here we go.

The food was average
No one asks a visitor if they would like a hot drink. Even if staff are not busy and just sitting in the same room. I once asked for a tea for my mum and got coffee, if you get the small details wrong. You wont get the big things right.
I was not aware my mum went into the gardens on the ground floor once. Despite the heat.
On the 2nd floor they have 2 flicking lights for the 3 weeks she has been there. No change.
My wife was asked to fill in numerous papers of information. Only to be rang at 9 pm for the same!

My mum has now died. My wife and I went to pick up some pictures and a rosary. We asked for the balance of her account. Only to be told. Come back in two weeks as the person is on holiday!!!!!

Every one has always been polite and nice. Always found cheerful loves when I visit as she loves to sing. My sister loves dancing too. She remembers all the old songs without any difficulty.

The staff within the home are both caring and supportive and put both my Fathers needs and other residents first.
Sometimes I feel the staff could do with some extra hands to assist with their duties and for the extra care needed.
Special mention to the activities coordinator who does an excellent job of entertainment and her focus and interaction with the residents and my Dad is first class.

Also need to mention the staff nurse who oversees and keeps the wheels in motion and at a top level. Two other members of staff in particular are also superb and caring.

Mum has been in Ashbrook for four years now. She is now very settled and is well cared for by the care staff on the Ash Unit.
The home is very clean, the staff are friendly, the food served is always well-presented and you have a choice.

The activities for residents have improved in recent months but these could be improved further with more regular daily activities to keep residents occupied.

Overall the standard of care is good and we find staff most polite and obliging. However, Mum says she does not always get a regular cup of tea in the mid-morning break, especially at the weekends, or in the afternoon break. The dinners and the teas (unless I am around to speak to the staff) are not always delivered hot enough (Mum doesn't like cool or cold meals and tea). Mum also says that when she arrived in October there were always staff around and some would pop in for a chat. Now the place seems quiet and almost deserted.

My grandad has only been at Ashbrook Nursing Home for a month but the service and carers have been brilliant. The place is like home from home and I really feel like the carers care and that it's not just a job. The communication has been outstanding and we as a family, have been really pleased with everything so far.

Overall Management is approachable.
Food could be better instead of sandwiches a hot meal in the evenings.

Maintenance could be better on squeaky doors and broken beds.
