My mother recently moved into Fieldway after several weeks in hospital, due to a stroke. The manager and staff have been so helpful in keeping me informed of mum's progress, facilitating phone calls and doing everything possible to make mum comfortable. I am very grateful, especially as mum is a Dementia
patient and so very vulnerable.

It has been a full year that I have been able to visit properly my friend. Also, helped to organize her room. Due to covid, everything is extremely limited. But understandable. It is been very difficult for all. We need to have more patience.

Since the new manager has taken over, the residential setting has completely changed for the better. She is closely supported by a particular carer who together work incredibly well. The system is effective and efficient, and I can only speak from experience as my father has been living at Fieldway
for 14-years; that it is the most improved it has ever been because of the communication between the manager and staff. It has made an incredible difference to my family to know that my father is so well cared for. We sleep far more soundly at night. The team is also very fortunate to have a deputy manager who runs her side of things like a tight ship should be run. In her team, my praise goes to 'three ladies' who know my father inside out. We are also very fortunate for my father to have had the same GP during all his stay who also knows my father very, very well and provides top-class care.
All-round I can truthfully say that I would definitely recommend Fieldway to families.

Everyone at Fieldway has gone out of their way to make my father feel welcome. He immediately improved in his appearance after a miserable spell in hospital. Thanks to their kindness and care. He has fallen less since being there. I always find staff helpful and thoughtful in spite of the difficulties
and restrictions of the coronavirus. The home is well-organized and somewhere I am sure my father is safe. It is a weight off my mind to know how well he is being looked after. Carers are patient and do their best to meet his needs, sometimes difficult with his dementia and hallucinations, which I really appreciate. Communication is good and I know messages get through. I have no complaints.

My dad has been a resident in the Fieldway for over 3-years and is settled and happy. He is very well looked after by everyone. The staff and carers are extremely kind, helpful and very hard working. They always do all they can when asked for something specific. Unfortunately, with the covid, we have
been unable to see dad as we used to (every day), but the staff and carers try their best to accommodate us to see him as much as we can. I would definitely recommend this nursing home.

My mother has been a resident at Fieldway since October 2018, the care for her is very good. She has been in late stages Alzheimer’s since moving into the care home after being at home with me. I was devastated that I could not cope anymore but knowing the care my mum has had has made it much easier.
I would have said the management was the only issue but since the new manager started in March last year it is now much better.

Fieldway Care Home is a caring and compassionate home with friendly and caring staff. During this Covid period, it has been very difficult for everyone, including friends trying to access the elderly living in the home.
It would be easier if after asking to visit we were put through to management rather
than going through to the nurse who then puts us through to management.

My father arrived late Wednesday evening however the care home staff were immediately in contact to inform me on how my dad was doing. They called me and emailed the following day to explain their current visiting rules owing to Covid-19. All of these rules are extremely important and they have put
in place strict regulations to ensure the safety of residents and staff.

They allowed me to drop items for my father anytime and was able to see him from a distance whilst he is in isolation. The home is clean and welcoming and plenty of parking for visitors.

A special thanks to the manager who has kept me updated on my dad's well being and checking his needs with me.

The home is a very friendly, caring place. My uncle is very happy here. He's looked after in every way, his room is clean and tidy. He always looks so well as the staff work hard to look after his every need. They are like family to him. They have been wonderful through the Coronavirus crisis working
diligently.
It's a friendly family feel home and everyone is made welcome. If I have any concerns about my uncle it's always dealt with promptly by the nurse station or reception.

The home looks lovely and staff seem lovely. I wish we were regularly updated on my mum's condition as we only found out she had a back sore and was in a very bad way a day before visiting her. Due to COVID, we haven't seen her for over 4 months so this was very shocking to see her in such a way. I
wish we would be updated on her condition, instead of them saying they tried to call, but I have never had any missed calls.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Fieldway Care HomeThank you for your kind review of the home and staff. We apologise for the lack of communication to you from the home regarding the period of hospitalisation for your Mother. I understand that the home tried your mobile first and when they were unable to leave a voicemail, another member of the family was contacted with an update. If you would like to call the home, the Manager would be happy to update your contact details and discuss the outcome of the hospital visit and subsequent referrals with you.

The care provided here is excellent. The carers that look after my husband make him feel like he is a family to them. Everyone at the care home is super friendly. I have never seen them without a smile on their faces. They show so much love and support to my husband. Even with the coronavirus pandemic,
the care home has kept our family in touch with my husband by providing Skype calls and coronavirus friendly visits with strict social distancing measures.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.474)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.474) out of 10 for Fieldway Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.599 for Fieldway Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.599
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fieldway Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
