During lockdown, my husband had to be admitted to the Hospital twice for different reasons. In each case, I was kept informed by the manager and clinical lead and understood that all the correct testing and procedures had been undertaken. All the staff at Fieldway work very hard to make this very
difficult time manageable for all. It has been incredibly stressful for them and I would like to say how I appreciate the emailing of newsletters to keep me up to date with what's going on. Also the efforts to keep residents in touch with their families. Often when I am speaking to my husband on the phone I can manage to have a chat with one of the care workers too. Two care assistants and so many others remain resilient and cheerful.

My family were not contacted when my relative passed away in the home. To this day we have had no answers as to why the nursing staff did not feel it was necessary to contact the next of kin regarding this. We had discussed the procedures for end of life care and were told that we would be contacted
immediately if anything happened. This promise was not kept. Instead, the family had to find out for themselves.

P.S I have asked to put my name down to live here!

I was recently sent from Fieldway to hospital. I was in intensive care for 4 days and a cardiac ward for 4 days. I missed the friendliness of the staff at Fieldway and feel people listen to me at Fieldway but they did not always have time to listen in hospital. One night I was extremely cold and they
couldn't find more blankets for me. I wanted to come back to the place where the staff know me and know what food I like and where I see the same faces instead of lots of different nurses. I was pleased to return to Fieldway.

Relative complained repeatedly about care including failure to be taken to the bath/shower room and missing personal items. Staff appeared overstretched, nurse stations were frequently unoccupied. My relative died 6 weeks after a fall. The CQC assessed safety as inadequate in February 2019 and all
other standards as requiring improvement.

Fieldway have looked after my father throughout the last 5 years as his dementia condition has worsened. He became a permanent resident two years ago. The staff have always been very caring especially when his wife died in August 2017, as he needed to have her death explained to him slowly and sympathetically
many times.

I am just writing to again say thank you so much to all the staff for the love and care he receives 245 ours a day. I am so grateful that I do not have to worry about my Dad. He has been very poorly and the staff are taking extra care in looking after his needs. I will be forever in the debt of the
Fieldway staff. I myself feel very welcomed and relaxed when visiting.

I would highly recommend Fieldway to anyone. I looked at a variety of homes in the area and found Fieldway to be, not only the best presented but also the closest one to where my family live meaning we could visit frequently.
On my initial tour, I was welcomed and shown around. When my mother eventually
moved there permanently, the staff did everything possible to look after her- and my dad, who had been her main carer.
The food is of a high standard and there is plenty of choice. The activities are well planned and my mother is encouraged to join in.
My mother is safe and well cared for, we can visit anytime. Whenever issues have arisen (because nothing in life is ever perfect), any concerns have always been addressed, looked into and resolved; this is so reassuring for a family. The leadership is excellent and I attend the family meetings which are held regularly, to keep updated of anything.
The one area I would like to see improved is the communication by email.

The care for my father has been excellent in the 15 months he has been here. My only complaint was the clerical side (forms & the like getting lost or forgotten) but this seems to be improving. Expensive but all homes are.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Care Advisor at Fieldway Care HomeThank you for your feedback, I understand a form was mislaid by the Admin team on admission, I apologise that this happened. Since then all forms have been completed and I confirm our conversation on 30 January that you are very happy with the Home and Admin team. Gill Kerry – Home Manager.

My mum came to the home extremely ill. Since that day, she has had a new lease of life. She settled very well, this being due to the way the staff look after her. Food is given to her liking so she eats well. They all treat her with dignity and care. This is a very happy nursing home where everybody
smiles which makes it a great place to be.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.474)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.474) out of 10 for Fieldway Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.599 for Fieldway Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.599
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fieldway Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
