I find the staff most pleasant, always have a little word to say. They look after the patients really well, the patients always look nice and clean and well looked after.
I know when my brother is awake he always looks happy so I can go away knowing he has the best of care.
Thank you.

My wife has been a resident in the home for 20 months now. I think the overall care has deteriorated in the time but I think this is due to the difficulty of recruiting and retaining care staff. There are very few of the original staff remaining and care from the agency staff varies enormously. I'm
sure none of these views are new to you.

My father has been a resident for three months and has settled well and appears very content. Staff are always welcoming and appear enthusiastic about their roles and well supported by the management team. The interaction between staff and residents is positive and every effort is made to be responsive
to the residents' needs. My father has benefited enormously from the activities programme which is well structured and offers a variety of experiences. I feel that his level of physical and mental functioning has benefited from this stimulation and the reassurance of having support on hand 24 hours a day. When asked what he thought about the care at Hamilton he said: “You would have to try very hard to get better than this” - which sums it up perfectly.
Reply from Tori Blackadder, Marketing Assistant at Hamilton Thank you for taking the time to review Hamilton Nursing Home. We are pleased to hear that you find out staff welcoming and attentive to residents needs, and that the activity programme on offer has been helpful to your Father.

My mother-in-law was fortunate to be a resident at Hamilton House for eight years and in all that time, we got to know the home very well, including staff and management.
Not once in all that time did we have cause for complaint, in fact, we have nothing but admiration for the work they do but more
importantly, the way they do it with patience and understanding.
When my Mother-in-law died at the home, it was then that the staff and management showed such compassion and care towards our family that it helped us to get through such a traumatic time, something we will forever be thankful for. It is such things that memories are made of.
Thank you once again for eight years of care, kindness and professionalism

My mother spent the last few months of her life in Hamilton Nursing Home and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. At all times, my mother was treated with great care and affection by all the staff. All the staff performed with true professionalism which was a comfort to know that my mother was
in the right place.

My Mum has been a resident of Hamilton for just under 14 months. Since she has been there the levels of help, love and support have always been very high and we are very thankful to everyone in Hamilton for this. There are regular meetings for all the relatives to attend and we have found the deputy
manager, to be honest, and completely transparent in all matters. Recently when they won some money it was immediately offered out to the relatives and they have purchased one of our suggestions which is now erected in the garden. We cannot fault any part of this wonderful nursing home.

In general I have found the home to be above average and the care generally good. The home lost several very good staff in 2018 which they have not been able to replace. The majority of staff at the home are extremely good, in particular, the activities lady, and a number of people that have been there
for some time. Newer staff are a little bit hit and miss in attitude to this type of work. Overall the level of care is good.

My mother will have been in Hamilton for a year next week.
There have been difficulties with retaining carers, however, the management are keeping us very well informed as to their efforts for recruiting new staff.
During the year of my mother's residency I cannot speak highly enough of the care she
has received and this continues to be the case.

I placed my late aunt in this nursing home in 2013 and from the moment I walked through their front door, the manager was extremely caring, warm and understanding of our needs. My aunt was very well looked after, my visits were never announced but every time I went to the home, my aunt was washed, dressed
nicely and her room was immaculately clean. The whole staff were very welcoming, warm, friendly, helpful, understanding and professional and everyone was updated with my aunt's condition at all times. No one needs to look any further than Hamilton for professional medical nursing and a home from home!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.392)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.392) out of 10 for Hamilton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.517 for Hamilton is calculated as follows: ( (100 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 176 Ratings = 4.517
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hamilton is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
