We recently were invited to share our friend's 60th wedding anniversary. We were welcomed by all the staff we came in contact with and met in a room allocated to the family. It was lovely to see how caring the staff were with them showing kindness and respect. Special cakes were made in the kitchen
to help celebrate the occasion.
Thank you very much.

We came to celebrate the Diamond Wedding Anniversary of my cousin and his wife (both residents). It was a happy occasion despite the dementia that now affects one of them. The staff were very supportive and joined us and it was a splendid tea!

My mother has been at Kenbrook for twenty years which they celebrated in August. The staff both past and present have been remarkable. Her care has been exemplary. I could not recommend Kenbrook highly enough. They have been a gift to my mother and I.
Reply from Sarah Law, Home Manager at KenbrookThank you for your wonderful review. It was hugely rewarding and a great privilege to have a celebration in honour of your mother’s 20 years residing in Kenbrook. Your mother is a remarkable woman, enduring her own health needs but never forgetting words of love and kindness to the staff who care for her. The staff have been duly thanked for their work.

Dad has been a resident at Kenbrook for just under a year. His health has gradually improved under the watchful care of the nurses. As he has regained strength, he has appreciated the church services and exercise activities provided. The team of carers work hard to keep him as independent as he can
manage, noting when more or less help is needed. When visiting, the carers have assisted in enabling Dad to have space with his visitors, including space for lunch together. He is assisted to visit his wife, who is also in Kenbrook.
Thank you to all the staff at Kenbrook, who are a loving team of devoted carers.
Reply from Sarah Law, Home Manager at KenbrookYour father has such an indomitable spirit and has been a stalwart visitor of your mother, even before his admission, and likewise, your mother’s resilience has been something we have all learnt from; they are certainly a big part of Kenbrook. It is pleasing to see that your parent’s care is recognised as being of a high standard. Having such a caring and engaged family is much appreciated, and thank you for your review.

Both our parents now live at Kenbrook: one since 2019 and the second moved in a few weeks ago. The quality of the care given - before, during the Covid pandemic period (including when families were unable to visit) and since restrictions have eased - is outstanding, and we have experienced great warmth
from the staff towards both residents and all our family. The atmosphere is welcoming and full of life. Kenbrook feels like a community, as residents eat together in the dining rooms and there are plenty of activities and special events taking place. Winning staff team of the year and manager of the year at the 2022 Brent Care Awards is testament to the superb staff, as it is primarily the people who make Kenbrook the wonderful place it is. The facilities are good too. It may not be as plush as some homes, but Kenbrook is light-filled and spacious. The garden and enclosed courtyard garden are a lovely bonus. We are happy the long wait for a place is over, as is the new resident!
Reply from Marian O'Hara, Home Manager at KenbrookThank you for taking the time to leave this wonderful review. Your family have been a big part of Kenbrook life for so long now and we are so pleased that the waiting for a placement is over and that your mum and dad are back together again. We thank you for all your support and your thoughtful gifts of beverages and biscuits. I will pass on your lovely comments to the team and once again thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review.

My father-in-law is well cared for here at Kenbrook. He is happy, he is eating well compared to the last care home he was in. The nursing staff have been exceptional in looking after him. They keep us updated on all his needs, his care and anything we need to know. The care home has a lovely feel to
it as you come in. Staff are helpful and caring and I have no worries about him. Great care home.

My mum has been living at Kenbrook since 2020 and is very settled there. She has good relationships with staff and other residents, despite her difficulties with verbal communication. It's lovely now the home is able to open up again since COVID restrictions have started to lift. It's a good place to
visit with my kids and my mum is happy there. Thank you staff at Kenbrook.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.858)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.858) out of 10 for Kenbrook is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.883 for Kenbrook is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 223 Ratings = 4.883
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kenbrook is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
