I am happy with the care home overall but concerned about staff shortages in Haywood House. Today is 7th July and we are at a fete at home. A lot of care and attention went into making this day special for residents, family and friends.

Although my Uncle has only been here for a short time he seems very happy. The staff are very caring. Plenty going on for him. A garden fete today was very good.

I visited a neighbour today it was a very happy visit everybody was in a jovial mood and in a good place. Plenty of singing and laughing. I hear that singing happens on a regular basis, coming together as a big family unit. I went home feeling happy as day's like this are so important. Keep up the good
work.

Our Mum was admitted to Mornington Hall in January 2018. We had a few problems with my mum settling but staff and management were very supportive and worked with s to settle my mum. We are very happy with Haywood House and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

I can't fault my mother' care. The one complaint I have is that since new people have taken over we have to wait for the door to be opened, with the other staff we were able to use the door code. I find we wait for a long time to be let in. This is very hard for my brother who is deaf because he doesn't
hear the staff answer his ring.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Mornington Hall Care HomeThank you for your concern raised regarding the door entry code. All our units are key-coded to ensure the safety of our Residents. We are currently experiencing problems with the intercom system and our property services are looking into this and believe that this will be resolved soon. In the meantime, I have informed staff to be vigilant at all times and ensure that the door is opened in a timely manner. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

1 - Food is not flavoursome and contrary to initial assurance, does not take into account individual preferences.
2 - Lack of sufficient activities, especially verbally stimulating.
3 - Occasionally bad odour.
4 - Difficulty in opening entrance door, even after it has been remotely unlocked from
office.
5 - Care staff diligent, caring and compassionate.

My father moved to the home is September 2017. All the staff I have met have been lovely to him (and me) and I think he is well taken care of. Nothing is perfect but the staff seem to do their very best and my family are very grateful.

We need better systems in place. Sometimes tea, sometimes no teas. The food was given but left on the table. Sometimes the residents get mad with not having proper care as staff shortages.

Overall the care is very good, there's a lot of time when residents are put into a chair and left to their own devices, more activities are required to keep them engaged as they will just sit and nap if left to it. My mum has certainly deteriorated since her admission. Don't think all options for menu
choices are mentioned residents do not go up to the wall menu so do not know the choice offered.

My mum likes it there, with very few exceptions she has been treated well and likes the staff. I personally like the set up and the location which is very restful and allows me to take her out to see the interesting garden area.

I, personally, am more than satisfied with the service being provided for my mother. She tells me that in reality, this is not the place she would like to be but realising her condition, it would be impossible to be able to stay in her own home safely. She is therefore quite content to be at Mornington
Hall where she is being looked after very well.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Mornington Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 61 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 61 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Mornington Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (573 Excellents x 5) + (121 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 711 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mornington Hall Care Home is based on 61 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 61 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
