The Sidcup offers nursing and residential care, both long-term and short stay care.

The home is a purpose-built with modern comforts and conveniences. It prides itself on its warm and homely environment where residents can relax and feel safe inside the home and in the gardens. All bedrooms have en suite facilities and are furnished to a high standard.

The home consists of two floors, with dining rooms and lounges on each floor. The home also benefits from its own cinema lounge, large well- maintained gardens, its own hairdressing salon, and private lounge, ideal for family events and celebrations. The home has visiting professionals such as physiotherapists and chiropodists.

As an enhanced service to residents, weekly GP visits are conducted at The Sidcup Care Home, enabling residents to receive regular, personalised medical reviews as part of their approach to person-centred care.

At mealtimes a wide range of nutritious dishes are offered, always made with fresh ingredients. Residents’ dietary needs and personal preferences are always taken into account by the chef. The chef will visit residents to make tailored menus if necessary. There are regular tea rounds throughout the day with fresh cakes after lunch.

As well as regular, organised activities such as quizzes, bingo, film afternoons, board games and arts and crafts sessions, trips out to local places of interest, visiting entertainers and pantomimes, as well as tai chi and holistic massage and aromatherapy.

My mother was recently admitted to The Sidcup in the Granville Suite under palliative care.
On the very first day, I felt comfortable knowing that my mother would receive the level of care and attention that she so desperately needed and I was not disappointed.
From the front of house reception to
the nursing and care staff, everybody was so loving and professional.
Even after my mum had passed on those same staff now shifted their attention to her husband, myself and my wife, offering support and advice where possible.


I cannot rate The Sidcup highly enough. The management should be proud of the standards their staff maintain.

A fair overall summary would be just adequate, essentially because of two reasons.
Firstly, the staff are unmotivated and this shows through in the care they give their residents and secondly the quality and standard of food is frankly nothing short of disgraceful.
Clearly, both of these issues stems
from cost-cutting and because the majority of residents are old and frail, they simply get away with it.
Poor management is also to blame and if this were better at least the issues that I have highlighted would be vastly improved.

The Sidcup accepted my mother after a number of falls at home, leaving her confined to a chair for three days, unable to walk. After discussing the situation with The Sidcup, she was quickly accepted and she has never looked back.
Since moving in, she has relaxed visibly and enjoys the constant company
of the excellent carers and has quickly made friends with other residents. She has started to sleep comfortably at nights for the first time in several years. She loves it.
We are confident in the high standard of care that she receives and the friendliness of all the staff that she has contact with.
The welcome at the home has been exceptional.

Since February of this year (2017) my mother was admitted to this care home. I have found the standard of the home Excellent on all counts. My mother has been more than happy with the care that she has received. She feels comfortable with the staff who have been looking after her. Whenever we have visited
(which is most days) everyone whoever they are, whether they are managerial, administration, catering, housecare staff and carers/nurses they are all very welcoming and accommodating for whatever needs there maybe.

Since moving to The Sidcup, our experiences have been first class. My grandmother moved after a transfer from her home which closed where she had been for 3 years.
All the staff were extremely caring and supportive in ensuring this transition went smoothly. My grandmother is extremely happy and comfortable

This is the second time I've used The Sidcup Care Home.


My mother prior to entering the Sidcup was vulnerable, anxious and frightened living on her own. After suffering a number of falls she asked to go into care. Due to her location (Sittingbourne) we suggested she moved closer to us in Bexley.


She

now enjoys the company and has been out into the local environment for the first time in seven years. Also, the staff are wonderful which she enjoys it has given her a new outlook.


Congratulations to everyone who works at the Sidcup.

The Sidcup Care Home has progressed from a CQC rating of "needs improvement" in 2014 to a "Good" rating in 2016. The home has vastly improved and gives a high-quality standard of care. Work to ensure retention of staff has been achieved. The standard of decor and premises has been raised to improve
quality from residents. Very good management team in place.

The Sidcup Care Home is a well-presented home which provides good quality care. A variety of meals is on offer, cooked and presented to a good standard. For those able a wide range of activities are available. The rooms and common parts are maintained to a good standard of cleaning. There is ample parking
and the grounds are very presentable. All this is achieved by a proactive management which is supplemented by quarterly meetings attended by management, residents and relatives. Overall good quality care is provided by stable permanent staff.

My wife is in need of continuing care due to a brain tumour which has made her totally reliant on carers for all her needs. It became impossible and in fact dangerous to continue caring for her myself at home. The Sidcup Care Home provided an acceptable and adequate home for her to be cared for.

Myself and my husband have to say it gives us great pleasure to write this report. Although my mum had dementia, she told me at least three times in the first couple of weeks she liked it there and wanted to stay and she was very happy, From our point of view, we think the care, compassion and treatment
she got was second to none. This home is a credit to all the staff that work there and our heartfelt thanks goes to them. Even after she passed, she was treated with the greatest dignity.

My mother was cared for and looked after by the staff at Sidcup with compassion.
In the days running up to my mother passing away, we could not have asked for anything more. She was made comfortable in everyway possible, which we will always be truly grateful for.
We would recommend the Bupa home
to others as we could not fault the staff who are very dedicated to their work.

Although my mother was very apprehensive about going to a nursing home, she eventually realised that we couldn't give her the 24-hour care she needed. The move was made just before Christmas. There were some teething problems until she got used to the staff and they got used to her. Overall, the standard
of care was great. The staff couldn't have been kinder. The food was excellent. After two weeks my mother said to us that she was very happy in the home, she wished she had moved in earlier and that she didn't miss her flat at all. Sadly my mother passed away 2 weeks later. The staff had seen she was having problems and sent her to the hospital. My family are extremely grateful to all the staff there and cannot recommend them highly enough.

My dad has been in nursing homes for 5 years and the last year in The Sidcup Care Home has been the best year yet. The staff are excellent and not only do a good job but also have a 'family vibe' that really makes it feel like a home. The management team are friendly and make themselves available. They
also take on board suggestions. I really appreciate how hard the staff work. I feel they really go the extra mile, from management to nurses to carers to reception and admin.

Mum has been here for 2 months and has settled in after a period of time. All staff are helpful and kind. Rooms are adequate but perhaps could do with some decorating. food seems fine and entertainment has been good so far.

My father in law was given the best care at The Sidcup. He was nursed with the dignity and respect he deserved. The staff showed great knowledge, skill and compassion. Welcoming and supporting our family through a difficult time.
The home has a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is kept very clean and
we couldn't have wished for a nicer home for our dad to have lived during his time there.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Sidcup to anyone looking for nursing home care.

Exactly what I needed for 2 weeks, for respite following an operation for a complete shoulder replacement.
It was good to be able to walk and sit in the peaceful garden.
On the 9/6/16 staff arranged a lovely street party in the garden in honour of the Queen's 90th Birthday. Staff and volunteers were
so cheerful and welcoming.

Mum was well cared for in The Sidcup Care Home for the five years she was there. The home was very willing to accept visitors at all kinds of times through the day and evening (helpful as grandchildren were working and often visited later into the evening). Mum was able to bring her own belongings into
her room.


The location was ideal for someone in her position (bed/chair bound) but keen to be taken out in her wheel chair to the very close shops and restaurants (especially the local curry shop, Wetherspoons and McDonald’s). The local church kindly took her to Sunday services every week, as well as to other special occasions.


As usual in this situation, mum had her favourite staff and those she was not so keen on. I do not think this is a reflection on any of the staff or management; it is just a human trait.


Many times I asked if she would like to consider another care home and every time she quickly and firmly replied that she wanted to stay where she was.

The overall experience was a good one for her weeks stay while I went away but she was pleased to get back home. Everything was really good and staff caring and kind. She did say the bed was not very comfortable and fell asleep in the chair. Maybe this had its reasons.
