The Sidcup Care Home

Since my mother has been admitted to The Sidcup I have been very pleased with the care she is receiving. My mother is very introvert and doesn't like mixing with other people but the staff at The Sidcup have made her feel very welcome and put her at ease totally with unfamiliar surroundings. I feel totally at ease with my mother being in here.

My mother has been resident in The Sidcup Care Home since December 2017 due to her physical ability to look after herself. Overall we and she have been very happy with the care she is receiving. As with any such home, some days the care is better than others and it is obvious that there is a shortage of care staff on some days. We have no reason to believe that mum suffers from any slowness to deal with her needs, but it would be nice if staffing levels were consistent to ensure a high, constant level of care.

We are so grateful to all the staff, especially those on the first floor, who cared for our mum with Tenderness and Concern for her well being. They would kiss her, sing with her and had her laughing. They did their utmost on all levels. When mum passed they stayed with me to help me through a terrible and stressful time. I could write a book full of praise on all the staff from the Office through to carers. The food was lovely and they bent over backwards to try and get mum to eat and drink. The facility is very clean and well kept up even the maintenance man who put mum's pictures up on the wall exactly where mum wanted to have them placed.

The management in this home are extremely poor and they would not communicate with you.

The care my mum received was sporadic. If the bell was rung for help by the residents then it would take a while if at all for anyone to tend to them. I also found that the home could smell and did not seem clean in the rooms especially the toilets.

The staff did not seem to want to interact with the residents and it always seemed to them a chore to do anything for them.

When you needed a member of staff there was never anyone around they were either on their breaks which they all seemed to go together or meetings.

My mother was moved to another home in Chislehurst and the care she received there was so much more superior. Plenty of friendly staff who cared and good communication with management.

Needless to say, I would not recommend the Sidcup.

Sidcup Care Home treated my Dad with the utmost respect at all times. The care he received was second to none. At all times the staff made sure my Dad's dignity was respected and upheld too, as much as was possible. If there was a time things were not right as I saw it the staff always made sure it was corrected immediately. I have nothing but praise for all the staff at Sidcup Care Home and would not hesitate to recommend.

My nan moved in this week from hospital. She was very worried but all the staff have been very friendly and helpful.

My uncle seems happy and well cared for.

At £1340 for the week we did not think this was good value for money.

In my opinion, the staff are your biggest asset and their care and dedication deserve the highest praise, they work in an environment which takes much patience and tasks some of us couldn't face day in day out. They are all very friendly and professional and always available to listen and help with any queries we may have.

The end was calm, peaceful and very sensitive. Thank you.

Mother is happy in this environment. Rooms clean. She is well looked after.

Even after my mum had passed on those same staff now shifted their attention to her husband, myself and my wife, offering support and advice where possible.

I cannot rate The Sidcup highly enough. The management should be proud of the standards their staff maintain.

Poor management is also to blame and if this were better at least the issues that I have highlighted would be vastly improved.

The welcome at the home has been exceptional.

Since February of this year (2017) my mother was admitted to this care home. I have found the standard of the home Excellent on all counts. My mother has been more than happy with the care that she has received. She feels comfortable with the staff who have been looking after her. Whenever we have visited (which is most days) everyone whoever they are, whether they are managerial, administration, catering, housecare staff and carers/nurses they are all very welcoming and accommodating for whatever needs there maybe.

All the staff were extremely caring and supportive in ensuring this transition went smoothly. My grandmother is extremely happy and comfortable her words "I have all I need here I couldn't be happier".

This is the second time I've used The Sidcup Care Home.

My mother prior to entering the Sidcup was vulnerable, anxious and frightened living on her own. After suffering a number of falls she asked to go into care. Due to her location (Sittingbourne) we suggested she moved closer to us in Bexley.

She now enjoys the company and has been out into the local environment for the first time in seven years. Also, the staff are wonderful which she enjoys it has given her a new outlook.

The Sidcup Care Home has progressed from a CQC rating of "needs improvement" in 2014 to a "Good" rating in 2016. The home has vastly improved and gives a high-quality standard of care. Work to ensure retention of staff has been achieved. The standard of decor and premises has been raised to improve quality from residents. Very good management team in place.

The Sidcup Care Home is a well-presented home which provides good quality care. A variety of meals is on offer, cooked and presented to a good standard. For those able a wide range of activities are available. The rooms and common parts are maintained to a good standard of cleaning. There is ample parking and the grounds are very presentable. All this is achieved by a proactive management which is supplemented by quarterly meetings attended by management, residents and relatives. Overall good quality care is provided by stable permanent staff.
