Very good people, very good carers. The manager is very good and the food is good.

Moving from one place to another felt a bit strange to start with. Started to fit in and got to know everybody and found everyone is caring, loving and supportive. Carer, nursing staff and management are well managed and organised. Food is very nutritious and lots of choices.

Everyone is most helpful and faultless. The manager is always friendly and approachable.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Speirs House for 4-years until she sadly passed away a few weeks ago. She was so happy there for the last years of her life living it to the full. Speirs House is a very special place due to all the staff who work there in every capacity from the manager, nurses, carers, hospitality staff, office staff to the maintenance staff. Our family have the greatest admiration for them all, and we will always be in their debt for the care and love they gave her and us throughout her time there.

My father was a resident of Speirs House for over 5-years until he passed away in January. We will always be so grateful for the wonderful care he received from all the staff. It was so reassuring to be kept informed on a regular basis of how he was doing, and we always felt confident he was in safe hands. This last year with Covid has been extremely difficult, and the staff could not have done any more or worked any harder to take care of everyone there. We feel because of the excellent nursing care and kindness of all the staff, we were able to enjoy a few extra years with Dad that we may not have had otherwise.

For Mum’s last three years, prior to her peaceful passing in January this year, she required full nursing care. I believe that it was only the excellent care she received that enabled her to survive to 93. My heartfelt thanks go to all staff at Speirs. Excellent home and highly recommended.

I returned my mother to Speirs over three years ago for them to care for her for the last 4 to 6 weeks of life. Nearly 4-years later she died, but I knew she had been cared for by people who knew and liked her and wanted to do the best they could for her. For that, I am so please about especially as over the past year of Covid when it has not been possible to visit her ourselves.

We cannot thank the whole team enough for the outstanding care our father received during his three years at Speirs house. He loved all the staff, the activities and the outings. He thoroughly enjoyed the garden and the beautiful way the grounds are kept. The nursing staff kept a close eye on him, and the visiting GP's were also excellent. We, as a family, looked forward to our visits with him, and even during Covid, we are so very grateful for the way you worked so hard to make garden visits and then screen visits possible. We also wanted to thank you all for the times you helped Dad FaceTime us throughout the pandemic. Simply wonderful care.

My father was cared for at Speirs House for three years, and he was very happy there. The staff and management are excellent; we particularly appreciated the way the nurses handled his medication needs. When visiting was possible, we always felt welcome.

They were unfailing in their compassion, sense of humour and sensitivity, particularly in these difficult Covid times.

Visiting facilities have been introduced within the guidelines and organised with real compassion.

Activities - those I use are very good.

Speirs House is clean, attractive and friendly. The staff are pleasant and helpful. It seems almost as good as being at home.

Thank you to all staff who knew my brother - he was very grateful to everyone who looked after him.

The care of my stepmother has been superb. They have helped us keep in telephone contact - her nursing care eg the positioning of her pillows was excellent (I was a nurse/midwife). She really enjoys the food which is very much given to her according to how her illness is. She has got to know the nurses and carers personally and they are very kind to her. Her pain relief is very well managed. I and my family are so grateful for such kind, clinically very good care. Speirs House is very special, especially the manager.

Mum has been a resident of Speirs House now since November 2019. We struggled with the idea of putting her into a home in the first case but on first sight of Speirs House and having met the team, we knew this was the right place for her to receive the care she needs. I can't express how happy my family and I are with the level of care, service and expertise Mum has received over the last few months. As difficult a decision as this was, we all feel safe and happy in the knowledge that she is receiving the very best time at the stage of her life. I can and would thoroughly recommend Speirs House to anyone.

My father was very appreciative of how much support he received from Speirs House, which meant I was able to relax. The home manager was very helpful and the care team were kind and helpful too. The room was clean and looked out on to the garden so he could enjoy the view and watching the birds. Also it was easier for us to pay him window visits.

I can't praise Speirs House enough for the excellence of care for my mother for the last three and a half years. She was looked after perfectly in all departments. I found the management was helpful. She always praised all the staff who looked after her perfectly during this time. I believe the excellence of care extended her life to this point.
